Traveling, although very exciting, is arguably one of the most stressful times. Whether it’s by car, bus, train, or plane, we lug our baggage up and down stairs, shove them under our seats, and get nothing from them except carrying our belongings from A to Z. The team at Barracuda have shattered all of these normalcies with a high tech and high functioning carry-on bag.

With the hardships of travel and suitcases in mind, Barracuda was originally designed to be a fully collapsible bag for our modern world. Realising there’s more to it than that, the engineers added a slew of features to create a travel experience that won’t give you a headache.

Barracuda’s signature move is collapsing into itself to be just four inches tall in seconds. It can be stored under or on top of just about anything and is always ready for your next adventure. While you’re on the go, you’ll benefit from the two wheels and 360-degree swivel handle. Gone are the days of broken wrists while trying to scale the escalators on the Tube.

And, for the workaholics, or those that just want to watch a movie while waiting, a sleek yet durable tray pulls out from a discreet pocket just below the handle. Made from aircraft grade aluminum, the tray can be adjusted to whatever height is the most comfortable.

Barracuda USB

Possibly the most appreciated and used feature will be the built-in USB charging port. Located next to the handle for easy access, the removable battery is 15,000 mAh, which means you can charge your phone about five times over. The port comes with a cover so you don’t need to worry about it when you’re waiting for your lift in the rain.

For an added bonus (and $50 extra) you can also be sure to never lose Barracuda with location tracking via proximity sensor. Unlike GPS, GSM-GPRS relies on mobile networks so you’ll be able to make sure your luggage is at baggage claim before you even get there.

Barracuda on the street

Barracuda is compliant with airport regulations and is compact to fit in with any airline’s carry-on requirements. It’s just 22 inches tall, 14 inches wide, nine inches deep and has a capacity of 44L; it’s just big enough to fit it all without taking up too much space. At just 8.5 lbs. and made with ballistic nylon, you’ll want to take Barracuda with you everywhere.

Barracuda on the go

The response of the backers on Barracuda’s Kickstarter campaign has been colossal. In just days they’ve raised $565k, which makes their goal of $20k look like child’s play. They’ve met some stretch goals such as increasing the battery size, adding colours (now in blue, red, grey, gold, and black), and an additional USB port. The next stretch goals are to add another pocket to the back specifically for your laptop and tough internal straps to keep your belongings from moving around.

You can pick up your own Barracuda with their early bird incentive for just $230 (£150) but their estimated retail is a whopping $480 (£315). Shipping is expected to being in November.
