Amazon Dash Wants To Help You Purchase Groceries in a Way You’ve Never Even Imagined
Did you know that Amazon has an online grocery service? Neither did I but the more I learn about it, the more it makes sense for our hyper-connected society. While I don’t buy a lot of groceries at this point, I understand the time consuming nature of purchasing groceries does need to be revamped in some shape or form. Having to drive 15 minutes or more to buy food that you have to load and transport and then unload and transport into your house just seems archaic if you really think about it. Amazon started with their online grocery service so you could just go on to Amazon.com and order your groceries and have them delivered directly to your home for convenience. The next step is a little gadget that streamlines the process to make it even easier to manage a necessary but tedious process of the vast majority of people.
Dash Actually Requires Less Movement
Amazon has been in the grocery business for about 7 years now. The reason most of you haven’t heard of it is because of the limited availability in geographical areas as it is currently supported only in Seattle, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. The shipping is free for orders over $35 which is nice because most grocery trips tend to total much more than that.
The name of the grocery service is Amazon Fresh and the Amazon Dash is a companion device. The Dash is a Wi-Fi connected barcode scanner and voice recorder. Designed to be functional and durable, the Dash links to your Fresh account for the purpose of building your next cart of groceries. Once set up, you can either scan groceries in your home or speak the desired product and Amazon Fresh will add the product automatically with the lowest possible price available. You have to confirm the cart in order for shipping to commence but this troubleshoots any possible errors in the voice functionality so you can fix any problems before you order your groceries.
The Future is Bright and Fruitful
The idea is simple, the device is simple, and the benefits are immense. The only question is when will Amazon Fresh come to your residence. Don’t get your hopes up, the expansion of this service seems incredibly slow and the prices seem intimidating at face value. Besides the prices of the groceries, there is a $299 a year fee for Amazon Fresh but you do get the benefits of Amazon Prime as well. You will save money with Amazon Fresh by saving the gas you would normally use to get to the grocery store. A fresh idea with money saving intent, I like it!
