DR.W. is a beautiful wristwatch and pocket watch in one

Wearing a watch on your wrist is the most convenient way to check the time. But when you want to accessorize, this timepiece transforms into a classic pocket watch.

  • What is a pocket watch? It’s a larger kind of watch that’s designed for being worn. These vintage timepieces are really hot right now.
  • How do you wear a pocket watch? You can hang your watch from your belt, or from a T-bar slotted through a button.
  • Which pocket watch should you buy? If you are looking for style and convenience, the two-in-one Dr.W. Jurre watch is a great option.

Until the early 20th century, most men did not wear a wristwatch. Such timepieces were available, but they were largely worn by women. Instead, men wore a pocket watch — a larger timekeeping device designed to be attached to formal attire.

As the century wore on, men first discovered and then embraced the convenience of wristwear. But now, in this age of digital overload, pocket watches are making a comeback. With the DR.W. Jurre watch, you don’t even have to choose between wrist and pocket. This two-in-one timepiece can be worn either way, exuding classic elegance.

Classic elegance

What is a two-in-one watch?

You know how Optimus Prime can transform from a truck into a world-saving fighting machine? In a similar vein, the DR.W. Jurre two-in-one watch can change from a wristwatch into a pocket watch in seconds.

It’s all thanks to some really clever design. The watch comes with both a wrist strap and a chain. Each of these accessories has its own backing plate. This acts as a dock for the main body of the watch.

To switch between the wrist strap and the chain, you simply twist and pull the watch off one backing plate, and click it onto the other.

Beautiful wristwatch

In wristwatch mode, the DR.W. Jurre oozes oversized style. The striking face comes in three different colors, with metallic subdials at twelve and six. The supplied wrist strap is available in even more colors, with genuine Italian leather providing good durability.

Oversize dial

Given the extra thickness of the backing plate, this isn’t the slimmest wrist watch around. In fact, some people might find it a little too chunky. But if you like the oversized style, the Jurre will keep you satisfied.

A very modern pocket watch

Classic pocket watch

If we had to choose between the two modes, we would say that DR.W. Jurre looks even better as a pocket watch.

Several styles to choose from

Although it is clearly based on classic watch designs, the Jurre stands out as a modern timepiece. It’s relatively small by pocket watch standards, and the stainless steel case projects a very clean aesthetic. The watch also comes with a chain made up of very small links — another touch that makes DR.W. seem ever so current.

“We are an Amsterdam-based watch brand introducing a new watch concept: a watch that can be used both as a pocket and wrist watch.”

“We have carefully designed three different versions of our first model, the DR.W. Jurre. All versions are characterized by a combination of a minimalistic design, high quality materials and of course the pocket/wrist solution.” — DR.W. on Kickstarter

Timeless looks

What we ❤

Pocket watches are quickly becoming fashionable, and this watch lets you ride the trend. It’s also great for people who can’t wear a wristwatch at work (e.g. medical professionals).

Future upgrades

A slightly slimmer backing plate, at least for the wrist strap, would make the Jurre a little less chunky.
