You can skate to work every day on the Electric Cruiser skateboard
On paper, electric skateboards are awesome. But many boards are expensive and difficult to control. In contrast, the Headless Electric Cruiser is speedy, easy to ride, and affordable enough for any budget.
- How fast can you ride electric skateboards? While the fastest production board can hit 67mph, most have a top speed between 10 and 20 mph.
- How do you control an electric skateboard? Some boards come with remotes, while others have sensors that react to the way you stand on the deck.
- Are electric skateboards good for commuting? Absolutely. With a range of six miles, the Electric Cruiser by Headless was virtually made for morning rides.

Electric skateboards have been around for a while now. They are no longer unattainable dream machines; there are hundreds available to buy. So why aren’t we all riding an electric board to work? Perhaps it’s because many decks are difficult to control. Maybe it’s because most are stupidly expensive.
Neither of these faults can be leveled at the Electric Cruiser by Headless. This small board is easy to ride and it possesses ample power. Just as importantly, it will set you back less than two hundred bucks.
Are electric skateboards suitable for beginners?
It kinda depends on which electric skateboard you are talking about. With many boards, you have to control the motors using a remote. As a beginner, it’s hard enough steering with your feet without having to think about pushing buttons.
In contrast, the Electric Cruiser is really intuitive. It works quite like a standard skateboard, albeit a short one. To get some electric assistance, you simply push off and place your foot on the button built into the deck.
While you keep your foot on this button, the Electric Cruiser will maintain the speed at which you set off. As a result, you can concentrate on the road ahead. When you need to slow down, you simply lift your heel; when you want to speed up, you push off a little harder.

Top speed
If you push off hard, the Electric Cruiser will allow you to zip along at 12mph. Although this isn’t as fast as some boards, it’s plenty fast enough for safe travel on a small deck. The 200W motor is powerful enough to transport everyone from teenage kids to 6’ 6” linebackers.
In spite of such compact dimensions, the Electric Cruiser offers a range of six miles. When you arrive at your destination, you can easily pick up the board and carry it around. The whole thing weighs only 5.5 pounds and measures 22 inches long.
“Experience the joy of electric skateboarding without the learning curve or expensive entry price. The Headless Electric Cruiser is a refreshing spin on what it means to be an electric skateboard.” — Headless
What we love
Given today’s battery technology, the lack of affordable electric skateboards is puzzling. The folks at Headless seem to have nailed this open goal by delivering a quality product at an affordable price.
Future designs
While many will be happy with the sleek black look, it may seem a little dull to some eyes. We would love to see some more colorful designs after the first edition ships next year!
