Remote working is here to stay, but not everyone can easily adjust to this change. And even if you’ve been working from home for several years, there’s no harm in brushing up on your productivity, monitoring your mental wellbeing, and streamlining communication tools.

Introducing Microsoft Viva—an employee experience platform—that assists with these dilemmas. It’s essentially a modern intranet for employees that comprises of four elements to eliminate distractions, having all the tools you need at your hands, and encourage you to take breaks.

What does Microsoft Viva include?

Microsoft Viva includes four tools: Viva Connections, Viva Insights, Viva Learning, and Viva Topics. Connections is a digital workspace for accessing internal communications and company resources, such as policies and datasheets. You can also participate in employee resource groups from a single app in Microsoft Team.

Insights offers tools to reduce burnout and focus on your wellbeing. Headspace is integrated into it to ensure you’re taking enough breaks. In particular, it’ll offer insights and recommended actions for personal wellbeing experiences. This module is primarily aimed at managers and company leaders, and it also integrated LinkedIn’s Glint to use real-time data.

Learning is a hub for training resources and accessing custom content from in-house material and third-party content providers. The idea is to help teams and individuals make learning a part of every day without feeling overwhelmed or bombarded.

Finally, Viva Topics automatically organizes content across your organization, making it easily accessible to all employees. It uses AI technology to automatically collate content and conversations into topic pages. So example, if you hover over a keyphrase within an email, Viva Topics will define this meaning, related resources, and top experts within your workplace related to this.

Will it make remote working more complex?

One of the biggest conundrums businesses can face is overbearing remote workers by providing too many resources that eventually add to your workload. But Microsoft Viva is the opposite. Think of it as a useful dashboard to view projects and resources at a glance rather than an additional task to complete in the morning.

Furthermore, the Viva Insight module can give recommendations on whether employees have too much on their plate based on the tasks in progress. In this sense, Microsoft Viva can improve your workflow. And this is a great feature for intimidated employees who won’t speak up about having too much work to take on. Finally, with integrated wellness apps, it encourages you to put your mental wellbeing above your work. Now, there’s a feature we can get behind.

Do you think Microsoft Viva would help you to establish a healthy work-life balance? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
