Messing about with charging cables isn’t a pleasurable experience at the best of times. But when you’re on a long-haul flight, with your legs rammed up against the seats in front, a fiddly connector can drive you to despair. Thankfully, chargers are getting smaller and smarter. The POLATAP charging kit exemplifies this trend, with connectors for all your portable devices. It also comes with a battery pack and Bluetooth audio, packaged in a sleek case. Furthermore, every part sticks together magnetically — so you probably won’t fumble anything down the side of your seat.

– Modular design sticks together with magnets for easy connections

– Features 6000mAh battery pack with support for Lightning, Micro-USB, and USB-C devices

– Also includes Bluetooth receiver, noise-cancelling earphones and portable speaker

Portable Devices

Keeping your gadgets charged while you hop between different forms of transport is no mean feat. You might be able to grab a socket in Starbucks, but that’s not going to take you far. When travel is a significant part of your life, you need a battery pack.

POLATAP offers plenty of portable power. But this kit does so much more. Aside from charging three gadgets simultaneously, it can provide audio entertainment and bring wireless connectivity to your favorite headphones.

Thanks to a modular, magnetic design, this kit is also easy to use in confined spaces. In fact, you can quite easily stick the parts together when the lights go out.

Charging Skills

The POLATAP power bank is pretty impressive in its own right. With a capacity of 6000mAh, it can refill your iPhone 7 three times over. It also offers fast charging abilities, with USB-A and USB-C ports available.

For more charging options, you can attach the Cable Kit module. As with all the major POLATAP accessories, this little device attaches to the battery magnetically.

It adds two small pull-out cables, one for Lightning devices and one for Micro-USB. You can use them individually, or charge your iOS and Android devices at the same time.

Bluetooth Sound

The other main focus of POLATAP is sound. After all, you’re likely to be listening to something during an intercontinental flight.

In the pack, you get a nice set of ANC earphones. With 14.3mm drivers and noise-cancellation technology, they offer impressive sound on the go. The ergonomic design should keep you comfortable for long-haul flights, and the remote has a built-in mic for handsfree calls.

The earphones are of the normal wired variety, but they work in tandem with POLATAP’s Bluetooth Receiver module. Using the supplied metal clip, you can attach this to your jacket to enjoy sort-of-wireless sound. It also works as a bridge between your phone and your car stereo, for instance.

While the receiver has its benefits, we wonder why the included earphones do not have Bluetooth built in. It isn’t a big deal, but wireless sound isn’t exactly cutting edge any more.

What is more impressive is the POLATAP portable speaker. It’s the smallest 3W speaker around, delivering impressive tunes for its size. You need only attach it to the battery hub to start enjoying your favorite artists.

All the above comes in a sleek carry case, which will occupy little room in your carry-on bag.

“When packing for a trip, we want to bring useful products that don’t take up too much space in our luggage. Only the necessary things that will help make our trip more enjoyable. But with the increasing number of devices we own, our luggage only seems to be getting heavier and more cluttered.”
