🔍 Does It Really Work?

Share honest experiences and test results to see if new tech actually delivers on its promises.

Tried a smart basketball hoop for a month super cool tech, but does it actually level up your game? 🤔🏀

So I’ve been messing around with one of those “smart” hoops you know, the ones with all the fancy sensors, tracking stats, giving you instant feedback like your own personal coach. And yeah, it’s slick. You get arc percentages, release angles, shot locations, even a heat map to flex with. Great for showing off and deep-diving into your form.

But here’s the thing… I’m still not totally convinced it’s actually making me better.

Like sure, it tells me when my arc is 2 degrees off but midgame? I’m not exactly adjusting my shot while being doubleteamed in a fast break. It’s awesome for practice sessions, but kind of feels like it misses the messy, chaotic, vibesbased nature of real games. I dunno, maybe it’s another example of tech trying to turn fun into a science project.

Also, is it just me, or are we lowkey turning sports into yet another spreadsheet hobby? Does all this data actually help, or just feel helpful while draining your wallet?

Would love to hear if anyone here has actually seen real improvement with one, or if it’s just a fun toy for stat-loving hoop nerds like me.
