The latest from Facebook is a new interactive map that displays reported county-by-county COVID-19 symptoms from users across the US. The data, obtained via Facebook surveys in partnership with Carnegie Mellon University, will be updated throughout the outbreak. The company also says it plans to roll out symptom surveys globally in the coming days.

Oculus Go from Facebook Gets a Permanent $50 Price Cut

The popular VR headset from Facebook, Oculus Go, gets a permanent $50 price cut and is available now for only $149. The company tells UploadVR. “We are applying comparable discounts across all countries where Go is sold. Updated pricing is rolling out to all channels.”

Facebook Will Send Notifications for Third-Party Logins

The new feature called “Login Notifications", launched by Facebook today alerts a user (via the Facebook app and user’s associated email) when they use Facebook Login to interact with 3rd party apps. The purpose is to help users have more control over their information.

Facebook Messenger Sign-Up Requires a Facebook Account Now

While new users using the Messenger or Messenger Lite app could opt to use their phone number in lieu of an account, Facebook has now made it compulsory to have a Facebook account for using Messenger. This change might just be another step Facebook has taken before the said unification of all its message-based services, such as Watsapp and Instagram.

267 Million Facebook Users’ Data Has Been Supposedly Leaked

Comparitech and security researcher Bob Diachenko found a database of 267 million Facebook users' data that was left exposed online without password-protected access. These consist of user IDs, phone numbers, and names of mostly US-based users.
