Samsung announces a smartphone that runs on 5G

As part of their Unpacked 2019 event, Samsung announced the Galaxy S10, a phone with 5G capability. Although the network still needs improvement, this innovation suggests we’ll see more on the way from other brands. It will be available in Q2 2019 for Verizon customers.

LG announces new smartphones to be revealed at MWC

The LG Q60, K50 and K40 will all feature AI CAM, a Google Assistant button, and DTS:X 3D surround sound. AI CAM uses artificial intelligence to allow the camera to automatically detect objects. The mid-range devices will debut at MWC.

Apple plans to combine iPhone, iPad, and Mac apps

Rumor has it that Apple is planning to combine the apps across their devices by 2021. Called a single binary, developers would be able to create a single app that would function across devices. They announced a portion of this at WWDC last year, but a new SDK will be launched later this year for developers.

Google will announce gaming project at GDC 2019

While official details are scarce, Google will be sharing information about a gaming project at the Game Developers Conference on March 19th. The only thing revealed so far is the “Gather around” tagline, but rumors say it’s a subscription-based game streaming service.

Panasonic debuts new Dolby Atmos soundbars

Both the HTB900 and HTB700 soundbars have support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, which create a 3D sound space. Both designs employ a wireless subwoofer while the HTB-900 has Google Chromecast built-in.

Instagram fundraising option could require credit card numbers

Similar to Facebook’s Donate button, Instagram is launching a sticker for accepting donations. However, this may require users to enter their credit card details in the app, but it isn’t explicit if the details are deleted after the donation.
