Perry Chen, CEO of Kickstarter, is resigning

Just before a month celebrating Kickstarter's 10th anniversary, CEO Perry Chen has announced in a blog earlier today that he will be resigning from his role. He will be continuing his role as a chairman of the board for now. Aziz Hasan, head of Kickstarter’s Design & Product teams, will be taking over the role of CEO. As told in his latest blog announcement, "[i]t’s been a true honor to serve as CEO for the first five years of this company and again for the last two. As we’ve been saying around here ahead of our milestone birthday, 10 is just the beginning. And I cannot wait to see what the next 10 years of Kickstarter will bring."

Google launches Stadia gaming service

Announced during Google’s keynote at the GDC, Stadia is a cloud gaming service that streams to smartphones, TVs, PCs, and tablets. In the future, users will be able to watch a game on YouTube and press “play now” to launch Stadia and the same game. There’s no need to download or install games; it provides instant access.

Magic Leap debuts multiplayer VR

In another update from GDC 2019, Magic Leap revealed Grordbattle, a game for their multiplayer VR prototype. For two to four players, each person wears their own headset to interact with the virtual reality story and game.

Instagram launches in-app shopping

Users can now browse posts for shopping within Instagram and check out without even leaving the app. Using stored payment info, users simply tap the product tags within a post to be redirected to the checkout page. Sellers will eat the fee, but eliminating the need to redirect users to their websites could prove to be a game-changer.

Apple launches all-new iMac

The highly regarded iMac is getting a 2x performance boost. Combining Vega graphics, 8-core Intel 9th-generation processors, and MacOS Mojave, both the 21.5-inch and 27-inch versions have a noticeable improvement in processing speed.

Google’s Inbox app shutting down

As of April 2nd, users will no longer have access to the Inbox app. It’s Gmail app replacement already offers many of the same great features with modern improvements. The app’s last day coincides with the final day for Google+.
