In the name of all that's holy, what is going on!!!??? The android app is useless. It does not work. I click "sign up" and nothing happens. It will NOT create an account. Why release something that does not work? This is beyond ridiculous. You should be ashamed. I find it hard to believe you have received any "positive" emails. You don't respond to email, support or messages. This is a disgrace. I want to return this so called coffee maker for a refund.

They have been "finalizing shipments" for a month. I got banned from their Facebook page for saying this and they've now removed all the community comments, again. Censorship isn't helping your cause.

I have an ipad, and a Android phone. I checked the app store and I see the Orenda Coffee app in there. It has a 1.8 rating by the users. The worst I have ever seen! I won't try it on my ipad but will wait for the Android app to be released. This is just one awful mess. At this point I would rather return my unit for a refund if it was possible. Guess I will just wait till android is available, then try making coffee. Until then, it sits unused. Damn thing is too tall for my kitchen counters, blocks the cabinets. By the way Orenda, when you make these videos, try using an external mic, The sound is so low, just awful and unprofessional.

I received my Auroma/Orenda this week and just made my first cup of coffee.
The app works perfectly on my iPhone, the coffee was amazing!
I only have one suggestion, and that is every appliance I have ever bought has instructions to clean it out, run it through a cycle before the first use to remove oils and debris from the manufacturing process. I couldn’t find anything in the manual. I just ran a few cups of coffee through the machine (beans and all) before drinking my first cup. I love it! Definitely worth the wait... well almost!!

So I finally received mine. Set up was easy. App synced. Made four mugs. Used Kicking Horse coffee. Used first setting in iOS app drip over no changes. Did not use paper filter. Love it. It finally worked! Let’s see how long this lasts. I was backer 75. I would like to order spare glass for water and brew as I am sure it will break when cleaning. Lol

I just received my Auroma (or should I say Orenda). The instructions were clear, and it was easy to assemble. I would strongly suggest that you tell people to wash the loose parts in soap and water and to run a few cleaning cycles to clear out contaminates before using. This is the first appliance I have ever purchased that doesn’t encourage this common sense step.
I am UPSET though that the unit is selling for LESS MONEY on your website than I paid for it YEARS ago.

This is a total disaster. Most of you backers must be asleep or don't give a hoot about this project. The sub title should read "NEVER make good coffee again". An app based coffee maker and no app in sight, ridiculous. A machine designed so difficult to maintain and use. Why did you bother to make this? I don't see myself using it. Anyone want to buy mine?

@Auroma can you please clarify your warranty/guarantee process? I haven’t received my machine yet. All I’m seeing are problems. Oily, metallic taste (WFT!), having to use special water, and only a certain type of beans. The machines still don’t do what they were advertised to do, and worse they seem to struggle to make a basic cup of coffee.

Question: Has anyone else had a sort of oily metallic taste from their machines?
If so, have you found a way to remove it? First cup of coffee I brewed didn't taste right, so I ran the fluid cycle a few more times, and found that whatever it is causing the bad taste is within that system as the flavor is very pronounced in the just the water. Maybe I missed something, so please enlighten me :) Thanks

There are three basic issues with the machine, that no amount of updates or app releases are going to fix. First, adding water to this machine is an exercise in frustration, as the drawer that allows you to dribble water into the water tube is far too small for morning use. Also there is no way to remove the water without pumping through the system or taking it to the sink and tipping it out: so you cannot simply have freshwater when you want it, you have to go through a process of draining the machine. Some of us like fresh water every day. Imagine that.
Second, to change coffees, you have to scoop out the coffee, and then try to figure out how to run the grinder to get rid of any excess coffee, before starting over.
Third, 5 to 7 minutes to brew a single cup of coffee, followed by another 5 to 7 minutes for my wife’s cup of coffee, it’s just ridiculous.
Fourth and last, by having the coffee sit in a glass brewing pot, uninsulated, you’re always going to end up with cool coffee.
None of these problems are unsolvable, but none of them can be solved in the existing manufacturing set up. My machine, which works as they apparently expected it to (brews coffee, doesn’t spray grounds everywhere), it’s going to be available for $100 plus shipping for anybody who wants it. It’s simply not usable for me.
None of the problems they’re experiencing were unforeseeable. Statistical quality control is a thing, and everybody in manufacturing understands the process of incremental improvement and plans for it. Everyone experienced in product development and manufacturing understands the need for feedback from initial testing. New products take extremely long times to bring to market because of the test review cycle. What this whole process screams to me is arrogance combined with extra arrogance. At one point, one of the founders said something to the effect that Keurig Corporation takes five years to bring a new product to market, and Orenda was doing it in 2. There’s a reason for that not working correctly: it takes a long time to develop, prototype and begin manufacturing, let alone bringing it fully to market ready for use. Had they consulted with experts, this whole ordeal would not be happening. But it would probably have taken a year longer.

"Can only use certain kinds of beans" - WHAT? Where do I get this filtered magnesium water from, I'm in the UK. This machine is going to be more hassle than I thought. I really just want my money back now, after all these years of waiting - I just don't want a machine that is going to create problems.

I am disappointed in the last update. I don't need additional training on how to use the machine to be happy with it. Being condescending to your backers is not a good attitude to take. Your credibility at this time is poor, so it is hard to believe the information about the apps. Please prove me wrong - I want to like this product, I want to see you succeed.

I have kept my silence and not written any public comments about this project. I've only communicated with the creators via PM. Now I find it time to speak. I am amazed that with all the delays only 285 comments, Well there's "only" 638 backers. Some projects I've backed have thousands and longs delays with 3000-4000+ comments. Anyway, while I do appreciate all the work they have put into this brewer, I do not appreciate the final product, especially an app based machine and NO App! They post videos to instruct us on proper use without using the app. First of all, the need to post these hastily made videos is due to the fact that the manual included is subpar and lacking complete and detailed instructions. The main reason is they haven't released the app to control this IOT device! This is preposterous! Shame on you! I received my brewer a week or so ago, so they are shipping. You'll get yours. I did brew one cup, without app of course. Here is my initial observations on it's function. I will wait until app is available to review it properly. The unit needs to be assembled, with care I must add. There are fragile glass parts. Watch the videos to be clear on the assembly. There is a part that is not described anywhere. It is explained in one of the videos. It is used for a cleaning cycle. The height of the machine is taller than described in the campaign specs, because of this, it is too tall (17 1/2 inches) for my kitchen counter top area as it blocks my cabinet doors. This is a real problem. I would have not backed this if I knew that. Once plugged in, the unit is "on". There is no on off switch. Once the coffee cup icon is held for a few seconds the grinder starts and the process begins, It is very noisy, and there is much vibration. It seems to take forever for the coffee to fill the brewing chamber. Then once it is satisfied with the amount of coffee the brewing process begins with the hot water entering the chamber. This process is also so very long. I didn't time it but it seems to go on forever.
The coffee filled about 3/4 of my coffee cup. Too little for me. Maybe with the app, there is more control. The coffee was nothing special.
After viewing their videos, it seems the type of coffee used is super critical. This is something that was never discussed before. Not very transparent. Even the water needs to be the right type. Oh it get's better.
The cleaning is a major pain. This hardly a maintenance free device.
Coffee filters are not needed, but trust me, use them as cleanup will be easier.
Thing is, where does one get the right size filters? The offer no information on that or supply you with even a sample of them. Very unfortunate.
So, overall I am not please at all.
I have a Ninja Auto-IQ coffee bar. It is fantastic. Makes one cup of coffee in a variety of sizes, and strengths. Will make a full pot too, something Orenda can not. It is also easy to clean and no app needed. Yes its not stainless steel and glass, and not as "pretty".
Maybe the Orenda will prove itself once the App is available. That remains to be seen. Until then, believe me it is not worth your time. I still have to find a place for it. Good luck everyone.

You're joking. Stop producing video content and just ship *some* app. Producing video is very time-intensive. Answering questions is not. When will the app be available? That is literally the only thing that matters to most of us. Any resources that could be getting the app out the door and are not, are misdirected. Those of us that have working machines (which is probably a majority) have machines that made bad coffee because we can't control them.
