Easily take your backpack with you anywhere and fit it onto your bicycle with the SlingFin Honey Badger Bicycle Pannier Backpack. Featuring a lightweight yet durable semi-rigid external shell, the Honey Badger is a versatile and customizable pack. You can also use the Honey Badger as a bicycle pannier, using a system that fits onto your bike rack. Once on the bike, it provides a stable and secure carry. In addition, you can easily convert it back to a backpack when you reach your destination. Furthermore, the translucent shell makes it ideal for nighttime cyclists. It increases your visibility on the road using your existing safety light or even the light on your phone. Additionally, combining the roll-top dry bag with the outer shell makes the pack fully waterproof. Finally, the Honey Badger is full of useful features including a double-sided flip pocket and an optional suspended laptop sleeve.

I haven't done anything serious with the bag yet. It is bigger than expected, but still comfortable to wear. I've used it around town a couple of times to run to the grocery store or pickup the mail with. Haven't put a ton of weight in it, but it has done everything I've asked it too so far. It is fun and different and appears well made. Should protect the stuff inside it better than a traditional backpack for sure.

We just received almost 700 pounds of our black polypropylene material! The limiting factor now is the HDPE side panel material. It should arrive at our vacuum forming operation in just over two weeks, and then it's off to the races!

In full production now? Waiting on anything?

Hi Reijo! We've been ramping up to production! Currently, we're hard at work sewing the pannier accessories. Using the money from Kickstarter, we've ordered the raw materials we need to fulfill the rest of the orders. The 3-bar slides for the harnesses and waist belts came today, and our order of polypropylene is on its way from Germany! When the rest of the parts arrive in a couple weeks, we'll be able to go full throttle on production.

Doh. Meant to login last night and add the bicycle attachment to my pledge before it ended. Totally forgot about it. We will be able to add additional things to our order/pledge when we get the final survey and before shipping? If not, not a huge deal. Can order it later off of your website I am assuming.

That's right, Adrian and Knut! Sorry the system is pretty complicated, but that's the best we can do with Kickstarter's format.

Thank you Adrian :-)

Knut, looks like you just up the amount you are pledging by the cost of the lantern - so if you already pledged e.g. $165 pack + $20 shipping ($185) then amend your pledge to include the cost of the lantern. So $22 + $185 = $207. That was the advice I got in the acknowledgment email earlier.

I have upgraded my pledge to include the laptop sleeve.
I also want to buy the Luci solar lantern. How do I add the lantern to my pledge?
Can not see an option for that.
Hope you reach your goal in the last hour of the campaign. :-)

I was curious if I could backpack with the Honey Badger so the SlingFin team let me take one out last weekend on a 30 mile backpacker. Since I don't really have a blog or anything, I wrote about my experience on this medium article: https://medium.com/@jamesmcbryan/could-i-go-backpacking-with-the-honey-badger-d6711db066dd Long story short, it definitely works. If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them in the article or here.

Monica, the acceptable size seems to be 22'x14'x9'. I just measured my Honey Badger and it's between .5 inches and 1.5 inches below that in all dimensions.

Hi! Does this pack fit in overhead compartments on international flight? i.e., does it meet dimension specifications?

If the quality of the backpack is anything like my SlingFin tent, I think it is going to be a great product. Can't wait to get hands on. Really interested to see how well it works on a bicycle. If you can make it easily work on a motorcycle, even better.

Hey Kevin! Yes, you'll be able to get the laptop sleeve as an add-on later. Thanks for being an early supporter. We'll contact you with a fulfillment survey at the end of the campaign and make sure you are taken care of.

Will the laptop sleeve be offered as an add-on, similar to the pannier and clip?

Thanks for your helpful replies. I await your developments regarding possible attachments for motorbikes!

Hey, Gadgetstorm! There's a small photo of the keychain at the bottom of our page, but we'll post a close-up shortly. We'll also post a video of the pannier clips in action. They're designed to work for standard bicycle racks, so the clips themselves might not be big enough for a motorcycle. However, you're not the first person who's expressed interest in using it on a motorcycle; we talked to someone at our launch party last night who's interested in using it on his, so we'll be working with him to find the best way to mount it. The beauty of the pack is that it's customizable enough that there's certainly a way to devise a simple, bomber motorcycle mount! As for shipping, Kickstarter only allows us to set one price for international shipping. We're aware that it likely won't cost 60 USD to ship to many locales. We set the shipping cost on the high end to avoid surprising our backers with additional shipping costs down the road. We're not intending to profit off any excess shipping costs, so when it comes time to fulfill our orders we'll look at each shipping charge individually and reimburse our backers the difference. If we ship it flat, you'll have to assemble it yourself, and we'd be happy to send you instructions. We use a cable tie gun to close the ties, but you could do it with pliers and a standard wire cutter. The edges of the ties won't be quite as smooth, but from a structural standpoint it would work fine. That being said, international shipping is quite expensive, and it's unlikely that even shipping it flat would get the cost under than 20 USD to Australia. It shouldn't cost the full 60 though, and we'll refund you 60 minus whatever the shipping cost ends up being. I hope that helps!

Could we have a picture of the Cobra clip keychain too?

I have to ask if the international shipping costs can be reduced. At USD 60 to Australia, for something so light, I can't see the reason. If it ships flat, or in pieces, then the costs should not be more than USD 20. Also, I am interested in using this on a motorbike, side-mounted like a pannier. Can you please show a video of how the pannier straps work. The GIF on the KS page is not clear enough. Are you able to offer customisations like the artwork on the KS page?
