Thanks AD!
Flat rate when ordering several filters fixed it for me.
Pavel Družba
Thank you Alpha Dominche, I understand its complicated, and I think allowing a multiple filter packs for the same shipping price is a good move - really appreciate it.
Alpha Dominche
@Phillip Lewis Take a look now, it should be all cleared up.
Phillip Lewis
I just finished the survey and got the addon for the year of paper filters but it charged me $10 for US shipping (Arizona in the US). I was wondering why it would charge $10 if it was posted that it would be $5 for US shipping?
Alpha Dominche
Hi Backers, We’ve been getting great responses back on the FLASK since we started the Backerkit process and we wanted to address the concerns that have been raised by some people related to the cost of shipping on the add-ons. Firstly, we know they seem high. We made FLASK available worldwide because we wanted to give everyone access to our product and to join us on launching it into existence. We also knew that shipping costs to send individual boxes of a fragile product is expensive. We are a small company trying to send over 3,000 packages of varying sizes to our backers around the world without the mass scale of the online companies that can offer competitive shipping rates or make losses to build a market. We attempted to be transparent about this pricing from the start and are not trying to take advantage of anyone. The shipping costs are the costs we’ve been quoted and in some cases we decreased them. We are investigating methods to lower the shipping cost for add-ons through Backerkit, and to ship them in a way that is more cost effective for our backers. Concerning the paper filters specifically, we are looking at ways to reduce the shipping cost through our packaging method. Our current paper filter package is not designed to fit within the existing FLASK package, and will require an additional box or larger box. Once we are able to fulfill through Amazon and other distribution channels, access to better shipping prices will become available so in the future the price should come down. For the time being, $5 for USA and $10 Internationally for a year's supply of paper filters is what we’re being charged. We have changed the BackerKit to allow backers to order up to 5 packs of paper filters for a single flat rate of $5/$10 to ease some of the shipping cost for those that want to purchase multiple filter packs. We have the same goals as our backers, and we will keep you updated on what we find as we seek out other packaging and shipping options. We appreciate your commitment to our project. BackerKit will allow changes to be made up until we close it, and everyone will have ample time and notice to make their determinations. If we make adjustments to shipping, we will let you all know. We hope that our investigations into shipment cost efficiencies will bring down the add on cost for all. Sincerely, The AD Team

Yes, same here, I would order few packs of filters and maybe also one spare rubber gasket, and comoared to the weight of two flasks I have allready there it should be negligible addition to weight, so .... just can not understand that shipping costs per item. Please do something about it Creators, ... also waiting with finishing my survey.
Josh G
Can the AD Team please respond to these concerns? I am waiting for your response to fill out the survey, probably like many here. I am sure we would all greatly appreciate it even if you just told us “no we won’t fix the absurdly high priced shipping”.
Mike Heck
Regarding the filters, I know the FAQ states they are unique to the Flask. However in looking at the photos, the filters seem similar to the AeroPress… I could be really off base, but maybe these might be an alternative and are less expensive. Hard to tell until the Flask ships.
Martin Sedlacek
+1 for reduced shipping costs for add ons:
EU: 2x filter and 1 extra piston seal = 22 USD --> Shipping Costs: 25 USD Total shipping costs with flask: 60 USD
Mart Anthony
Another voice chiming in on the filter shipping cost. $10 to ship a short stack of paper alongside an already pledged-for FLASK is ludicrous. I appreciate you might want to dissuade people from ordering a whole bunch of filter packs without paying any additional shipping (and even then, would five boxes really cost $50 to ship?), but allowing one box of filters per pledged-for FLASK should be a given.
I think the shipping fee for the paper filter is too much. How can we get those paper filters in the future?
Josh G
The shipping hasn’t changed. It’s still $5 for the filters for me. They must be shipping it via Lyft.
John Hernandez
Shipping for filters $5? Can you cram the filter box in the flask box? Better yet, just pour them inside the flask. I'll fish them out.
I think they may have changed the shipping. Extra filters was an extra $2 shipping when I was just now in the pledge manager. I could be wrong though, I kind of breezed through it as I don't plan to use filters on mine.
Rodrigo J Montealegre L
In my opinion, as a client, the advantage of glass is that, in addition to temp, time, ratio, grind, etc., you have a visual factor, which I use to try to understand when the coffee has reached the color at which I like it. Of course, you would still have to adjust for the extra color that it would get through the plumbing and extra time, minus the paper ilter, if you use it.
Jeremy Palenchar
Agree with the shipping OVERcharges on additional filters. Please provide a cost-effective way to get additional filters: - Free shipping when added to an existing Flask order
- Fulfillment by Amazon and free Prime shipping
- Shipping friendly packaging and low cost USPS shipping This thing is going in the landfill if you don't provide cost-effective ways to get additional filters.
C. Scott Kippen
Is there any benefit of operation of having the clear vs. the ceramic white (i.e. is seeing the coffee help in any way)?
Mike Heck
I agree with others that the shipping charge for the filters is not realistic. On most of the other projects that I've backed add-ons are included in the shipping paid for the main reward. This charge should really be revisited, if they expect anyone to purchase any extras.
Add-on shipping charges do seem exorbitant. I would add filters but an additional $5 to ship $8 filters when you could probably throw them in the same box as Flask? $10 to ship Flask in the US already feels off. Aren’t you getting economies of scale on shipping? You owe your backers transparency here.
Rodrigo J Montealegre L
I could not find a way to change in the survey my existing pledge (2 Flask and 6 cups) for $136, in exchange for what i would prefer (3 Flask for $150), and paying the additional $14. If the change can be done in the survey please let me know how, if it has to be done some other way, please let me know how.
@Rodrigo: You can adjust your backer kit survey until the close date.
Cameron Dyck
I just completed my backer survey and added a second flask. Just wondering why it’s $5 more ($60 instead of $55) for the second flask when you’re offering it on indiegogo for $55 still?
Dominik Dess
Something to add to my previous comment, the shipping for an additional flask is also 10$, and I cant see any reason why a big glass item costs as much as a stack of paper filters.
Dominik Dess
Same problem when shipping to Germany. I pledged the 2 flask tier and pay 100$ for the FLASK and 50 $ shipping, now for each(!) pack of filters added its another 10$ shipping which is much to high in my opinion. If thats intentional on your side, can you tell uns the diameter of the paper filters, maybe the filters for the Aeropress can fit, you can get 300 of those for 3,5$ in Germany currently.
I love the concept and love what you guys are doing, the shipping cost just too high, maybe there is a way to make shipping cheaper , i.e. 10$ shipping for multiple items combined (within reason of course)
Zach Ong
I think you guys need to work out the shipping options. Shipping to Singapore a pack of paper filters is $10. Shipping to Singapore an entire flask is also $10 (the shipping for the actual pledge is $25 per flask, making mine $75 total per flask). Why the discrepancy? This means getting an additional flask would cost less than what i paid in total for each flask in the pledge. Would it be possible at all to provide any discounted shipping rates for people who just need the extra pack of filters?
Wong Shi Wei
Hi, I live in Singapore. Surely an additional $10 for shipping each pack of extra paper filter is way too much? Its even more expensive than the cost of the filter. Would it be possible for extra paper filters to be shipped free or for a small nominal charge or capped?
Rodrigo J Montealegre L
Hi, I have the $136 for two flask and 6 cups, I already did my survey and bought paper filter and an extra rubber Would like to add an additional $14 and have 3 flask, instead of 2 flask and 6 cups. Is that possible?
Josh G
A little much to charge an additional $5 shipping for adding $8 of filters...when sending from Brooklyn to NYC. Can you offer this at full price on your website or can we pick them up in Brooklyn somewhere? Both would be cheaper.
Runar Dankel
Excited to get the Flask!
Filling out the backer kit. Do I need to pay shipping pr box of filters? Can’t they be sent as one unit? Just asking cause the shipping racks up over seas. R
Jason Rothhaupt
Is there an option to pick up locally in Brooklyn?
Brick Dad
How do paper filters work in this French press? Just filling out my Backerkit survey. . .
Hiro Kawahara
Hello! If I wanted to add on and purchase another flask AS A GIFT, am I able to add on a different address to send the 2nd flask to?
Second, what is the AD Teams opinion in white ceramic vs glass flask? Thanks!
Alpha Dominche
Hi All, BackerKit Surveys are on their way and should be sent out to all over the next few days. You should receive your survey by end of day Monday at the latest. You will be able to select which FLASK Version you would like for your pledge (Glass or White Ceramic) and add on other options like paper filters, extra FLASKs and more. If you also need to update your shipping address or information you can do it there as well. Thanks all for your support! Sincerely, The AD Team @RodrigoJMontealegreL @Gashlycrumb
Rodrigo J Montealegre L
You got the survey for Flask, or for Rite Press? I got the one from Rite Press, but not the one from Flask
Woo! I got my survey! Now I still need to debate btw ceramic and glass. One thing I noticed is that there aren't any other material options with the flasks. For some reason I thought that was going to be a thing. At first I was bummed that black wasn't there, but honestly, I like the contrast of the grip and the flask more on the white ceramic.
Rodrigo J Montealegre L
In the pictures I see two different types of mugs, one has a wider opening, and the other one is taller and less wide? Will we be able to chose among them? I ordered 6 mugs, so I wonder if I could chose 3 of each?
@ammar: Usually, Backer Kit has a screen where you can confirm and even change your address up until the last day the survey is open.
When can we add our shipping address ?
Alpha Dominche
@Brett Hill we are currently setting up the backer kit software. We are taking our time to make sure there we have the options and add-ons for you all ready and verified before we send out the survey.
Brett Hill
Any idea when surveys will be coming out.
Lee Wright
I already added my pledge for two flask and the 6 mugs in the hope to help unlock the black option. I love that colorway.
Rodrigo J Montealegre L
You came short some US$40 thousand to get to the black ceramic. Maybe if you run a test you will find that enough of us would add another one if you offered the black. Maybe you would exceed the US$40,000. I would certainly add a third one.
I own a set of sieves and plan to sieve and remove the fines from grind before brewing with Flask. Would you kindly give the specs of those two included metal filters in micrometers (µm)? I'm asking this in case I have to order additional sieves.
Alpha Dominche
@Djayawarman Alamprabu We do not recommend dropping FLASK from 1 Meter high, but it will definitely be able to withstand some bumping. We chose one of the most durable glass types (borosilicate) since it is very common for long lasting consumer products.
Djayawarman Alamprabu
Thanks for the reply. Will the Borosilicate glass broke if it falls from say 1 meter height? or will it easily break from bumping into something? i really like the glass version because we can see the magic and what we are drinking. while the ceramic is pretty lovely but cant see those 2. i'm having problem choosing basically. but if the glass is really string enough i will go with the glass what do you think @creator
Alpha Dominche
@Djayawarman Alamprabu The Glass is Borosilicate and very strong, but if you'd like something with added strength we would recommend the Ceramic. The brewing chamber is made of Tritan which is extremely durable, so if you want to be able to take something on the go you only need the brew chamber to be able to brew into the device of your choice.
Alpha Dominche
@Tom Bohrer shoot us a message with your location and we can let you know the shops closest to you with the Steampunk Brewer.
Tom Bohrer
Do you have a list of SteamPunk cafes that are using your commercial product. Cany make it to Brooklyn to check it out.
Djayawarman Alamprabu
Hi creator congrats on being funded and way more. just wanted to ask im going to have this for traveling will the standard glass be ok? what is it made from will it easily break? or should i choose the ceramic instead? thanks. We can choose from all the fulfiill stretch goal right?
Alpha Dominche
@Thomas Gorczynski All tea brews well in the FLASK, and the coarse metal filter that comes with the FLASK will be the best option for brewing tea!
