Review from Kickstarter
I found the grain size is not very consistent and it seems that it is impossible to get the right size for pour over coffee. Very disappointed.
Review from Kickstarter
Used the Columbia Grinder now three or four times. The one thing I'm not liking is the "slippieness" of the black main body. I have to really grip the body tight to grind the beans, that it becomes uncomfortable fast.

The transparent plastic container that holds the grinded coffee started to get cracks only after a few uses. Now maybe 20 uses later it's about to fall a part any day. I'm sure I'm not the only one with this problem?

Still can't find the right size. Seems like the size of my grinds are still smaller than the typical pour over coffee ground I saw in cafe.
Anyone have recommendation about how many clicks for pour over coffee ?

Works like a charm if the handle had an engraved alot in the grinder body which could secure it better it would be excellent as it doubles as a grain carrying device. Very happy otherwise.

Hi. No one is replying to my emails. I have a couple of issues with my grinder.

Great product! I have been using it for about 2 weeks now. It grinds very fast, definitely the most efficient manual grinder I’ve ever seen. The grinds is pretty consistent, good enough for making a nice pour over. The handle is comfortable. The top opening is well designed so that beans do not pop out from the grinder. Things that can be improved:
One needs to be careful when adding beans into the grinder since the opening is quite small.
The bottom plastic collecting cup feels cheap, and the edge of it doesn’t align perfectly with the grinder.
The grinder doesn’t stand with the handle installed. All in all, great product! Thank you!

I am very happy with this device, it works quite well. The fact that the handle is not attached to the unit and falls off whenever you pick it up, however, is a design flaw. I just about broke my phone screen with it today. Easy enough to fix with a locking mechanism or another magnet, but it does need to be fixed.

Great (y), received mine. Good job @creator!

Update. Just figured it out. Flip the grinder upside down. Hold down the black part with your finger on one hand. Rotate the gray part anti-clockwise. Repeatedly. Takes a little while, but it'll be worth it so you can clean it between different batches of beans.
Review from Kickstarter
Has anyone figured out exactly how to disassemble this for cleaning? I emailed the company and I was emailed a PDF of the little pamphlet that came with the device.

As a follow up to my last comment, the grind is pretty good – no better than the Porlex, but solid. The lack of lid is somewhat of an issue, as beans keep popping out the top when I'm grinding, which is a bit of a pain. It's a tough grind as well – I'm a pretty big guy, and I have to change hands a couple of times for ~30g of beans, so anyone with limited strength will have a real job getting one cup made with this. A rubberised grib would make all the difference.

Used this for the first time today. I was a little disappointed in the magnet situation but its just missing glue.
The grinder was easy to use and didn't require much force to get the job done. A bit slippery to hold while grinding but not a deal breaker.
Overall I'm happy

Hi, I am a happy user of the CrushGrind. I was expecting that thet main body would be heavier or offering a better grip. Perhaps something for the next version? Nevertheless, despite the force I put on the device, the plastic body turns out strong enough (so well-engineered).
My first cup using the CrushGrind was a semi-filled unit of freshly roasted beans prepared in an traditional Italian espresso caffettiera (moka express) resulting in the best cup of coffee I had in years.

I've been enjoying my CrushGrind daily for the past few weeks.
2 suggestions to slightly improve the product: The main body is a little slippery to hold while grinding I'd consider a slightly rubberised plastic for better grip; a 2nd magnet in the 'handle-lid' (when not grinding) would be of use so that I could carry it with beans side while moving about. (and a dab of glue on the magnet was also useful)
As far as what it 'should do', the quality of crushing action has been superb, and has actually improved the flavour of my morning wake-up coffee. (a huge step up over my previous metal grinder, which at a retail store was of more expensive)
Review from Kickstarter
@creator, great job guys. The grinder has completely replaced our electric one at home. The grind is consistent and easy to adjust, and the ability to grind 9 grams every time is a great advantage over a commercial electric grinder that produces a lot more waste. No issues with the magnet for us.

I have no problem whatsoever with the magnet falling out. But reading others' comments makes me worry that it might jump out when I least expect it. Sounds like it'll be easy to deal with if it does. The grinder works really well for me and is building my muscles.

So far, I’m really happy with my grinder. One full bit of beans is just the right amount for my aeropress, so I no longer have to use the measuring scoop. I just fill the grinder up, grind until the cup is full, then tip that right into the aeropress.
I also has a loose magnet but a few drops of gorilla glue solved that.
Thanks for making a great product!

Received my grinders this week. The magnet really does slip out of its hole, but that's easy to fix. Other than that it's a pitty the handle knob doesn't prevent contents to spill out when in travelling mode.
Review from Kickstarter
Got mine in Indonesia 2 days ago. :) Same magnet problem. Almost thought I lost it, but then found it sticking to the handle. Not really that big of a problem since mine usually stay on the table rather than travelling. Turning the handle is heavy, but it also seems to grind faster than my older Porlex copy, so I just assume it's because the burr is crushing more beans at the same time. Size seems consistent.
Turning the adjustment knob can be difficult because it's too recessed inside the body. I'm trying with 12~14 clicks for pour over. Probably still too fine. Also want to know the best way to clean away the leftover dusts inside the grinder.

I hadn't checked my information in quite some time due to my house having burned down. As a result my product was returned to sender. Is there any chance I could get it reshipped?
Review from Kickstarter
Just got my grinder in Switzerland. Cannot complain about the build quality, even seems to be quite robust, no problems with the magnet til now. (Already dropped it to the floor without spilling coffee powder or breaking the thing.) Grinding is easy with a very reasonable amount of output. The coffee powder produced looks and feels nice and evenly coarse. Only thing which could have been improved from my point of view would maybe have been an additional magnet inside the handle knob fitting the pin. (If you move the grinder too fast the handle easily gets flung away.) For anybody complaining about how tough it is to grind: Try to readjust the coarseness.
And then it is a manual grinder... - one of the better portable ones I have seen so far.

I find this grinder to be hard to use. I won't be using it. I'll be using my electric. Pretty disappointing after a long wait.

@creator Hi, I'm backer 199! I wanted to know if you have already sent all the rewards? And in that case, is there any way to track the shipment? I would be glad to hear anything about it, because I haven't received any news and i'm starting to feel anxious about it. Thanks in advance,

I wish I was having the same issue as everyone else with the magnet not being glued, but my problem is completely the opposite. It is so well glued that as the handle rattled around in shipping, the magnet scraped the chrome off of it. It’s now flaking down the length of the handle and I’m afraid to even try it for fear of chrome shavings making their way into my coffee. I also have to say that the build quality overall is not where I expected it to be. It really feels cheap. Who do I need to contact to get a new handle? I’d be happy to send pictures of the issue

Received it today.
Same issue with the magnet.
The packaging came literally apart once I put it back inside.
Your product is a mess, same as your "skills" in running a kickstarter campaign, comunication and respecting deadlines..
Disappointed on every front.

Even though this was a very late Christmas present to my husband he absolutely loves it! "The crush of the beans is very even and consistent. It made a great cup of coffee, balanced, smooth and flavorful." Thank you for making a wonderful product!

The Grinder arrived today (Germany). Thanks!
The built quality is not very impressive. And is there no quality control before you ship the items? One comment (Rishma Ramoutar) mentioned the small piece. Same here... it is the magnet, which fits into the small hole on the site of the grinder to hold the handle in place. There is no glue at all? And the hole is too large or the magnet too small to realize a matching fit. It's definitely fixable by putting some epoxy or sth else in there on my own... but it is not an emblem for quality and a worse first expression.

Kia Ora, mine arrived in New Zealand yesterday. Produced good coffee today. Thank you.

My grinder arrived this week. I used it a few times and adjusting the grinder was easy. I’m not at all impressed with the build quality. The grinding results are good, but I own another grinder which was made from stainless steel in Japan and is from much better quality. Also with a good ceramic grinder and pretty similar adjustment knob. But with a lid!
I would not buy again.

Got mine today, looks lovely, still need to try it out. A few questions though. My grinder came with a small (pak man) looking piece, what is that for. And how do you dismantle for cleaning. The book it came with has no instructions and I do not want to break it.

Review from Kickstarter
I’ve had mine a few days now. One con is that minute grinds fly out of the top due to the lack of a lid, in spite of such a deep deep body. It’s not as bad as some of the lidless grinders I’ve used, but still a bit frustrating nonetheless. My magnet came out, but with a little glue it’s not going anywhere.
On the grind front, it blows my 6 month old Hario out of the water. My youngest (under 4) was able to grind easily, the same is not true of the Hario. Figuring out the proper coarseness took some trial and error, very precise mechanism.
All in all I’m impressed with the attention to detail, esp the guides to get those last pesky beans into the burrs.

Arrived in Canada yesterday; no problems with magnet for me, and I really like how tidily it packs away. Looking up close at the grinds they seem to be as even as I could want them to be, coffee tasted good -- thanks! Congratulations on a successful product!

Grinder recieved, and the magnet not glued it too ... it just goes out with the handle. It should be pretty easy to glue it in though ... so ... simple fix I would say.
Grinding quality yet to be checked :D
Review from Kickstarter
Received mine yesterday and I did a comparison grind with my mini-porlex and the results were the same. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, as everyone seems not to have a problem grinding, I found it exceedingly difficult to grind such that I had to press the bottom against my stomach to actually turn the handle. My magnet, on the other hand, is good. I wish I had that problem instead.

Arrived in Edmonton, Canada today! So nice! It grinds just enough for one cup for my Aeropress. It might do more, we'll see.
Very happy with it!

Just got mine today. Now off to buy some while beans.
Any idea which setting to use for which type of coffee?

Finally, mine arrived today! Never doubted it!
I immediately tried it out and all went well and incredible easy to use. Same as for some of the previous comments I found out that without a top cover it's easy to spill some beans out. Hope I don't have issues with the magnet though, will find out soon enough when bringing it with me on my holiday :)

Mine arrived 2 days ago (Toronto, Canada); all working well. My wee complaint is that with no cover at the top, it is pretty easy to accidentally spill beans out if grinding vigorously. Otherwise, I'm pretty happy. Crema galore in my espresso machine!

The magnet came out with the handle on mine as well. Is there a recommendation for gluing it back in? Other than that, it looks great.
Review from Kickstarter
Magnet immediately fell out on removing from the package. Turns out it wasn't actually glued in in the first place. I'm rather disappointed by this oversight on such a basic feature. Otherwise, product seems to be ok.

Day 2 - today my magnet also came off! I will try my hot glue gun later. It’s annoying. It not a big issue for me. So far used it 4 times and am really pleased with the results

Was pleased to receive the grinder. However, even before a first grind, the handle pulled the magnet out of the body. Handle is scratched around magnet, suggesting that it was possibly lose during shipping. What adhesive would you recommend to glue the magnet back in?
