Editor's Rating
4.7?
Discovered on 2018-06-26

Carry what you need for a day at the beach or the park with the Ibora Detachable Blanket Beach Bag. This pack comes with a built-in blanket that you can use a picnic blanket or beach towel. Unzipped in seconds, the blanket features special pocket corners, which you can fill with sand to keep it steady in the wind. Additionally, the Ibora Beach Bag holds your belongings like a regular drawstring bag and opens by simply pulling the handle straps. You can even use the bag when the blanket is unfolded since it’s a separate compartment. Plus, the blanket is detachable, making it easy to use and wash. The bag also provides a waterproof pocket so you can separate your wet swimwear from your other belongings. Furthermore, the sternum strap keeps the drawstrings centered. The beach bag comes in four styles while the blanket comes in six different designs.

Review from Kickstarter
Hi @Lena, thanks for backing and for the question. Great to hear that you're excited for the bag and the microfibre towel :) We’ve already come more than half way to the stretch goal since announcing it at 50k. Many projects have a bump in pledges in the final days so we’re still hopeful we’ll make it. Having said that, we of course want to keep our backers happy. If we get close to the goal but don’t quite reach it I’d still love to give you the choice of a a microfibre towel so we’re doing everything we can to make that happen with the manufacturer. So all in all you beach trip should be safe - microfibre towel included ;) Viktor

Hi guys!
Loooove your idea, but would also love the opportunity to get a microfibre towel... I'm afraid we can't reach the new goal you set for them... Is there any way you're going to offer them even if the project doesn't reach 75000?
I'd love to have a blanket and a towel ;) Keep up the good work! :)

@Maxime We’re really happy you like it! Yes, it will still be possible to add an extra towel or blanket once the campaign is over. The price will be the same but you might have to enter your payment information again since it’s a separate purchase. If you’ve made up your mind already it’s probably easiest to increase your pledge now, otherwise just wait and decide when the surveys go out :) Viktor

Hi there!
Love your product! Do have a question tho: When the campaign finishes and you get to choose your color and towel/blanket, will it be possible to decide at that specific moment to add an extra towel/blanket? Or would you need to raise your pledge before that time to get one extra? Looking forward to hear from you guys!

@NJK Thanks for backing our project and for asking about the blankets.

The short answer is no - grass or sand will definitely not poke through when you’re using the blanket :) They are made from a tightly woven cotton with a wax treated surface and are actually surprisingly strong and durable. It is true that it’s not a thick or padded blanket - if that was the case we wouldn’t be able to fit anything else in the bag! We’ve tested both the bags and the blankets for over a year now and never had any issues. We’ve used it on sandy beaches, on pebble beaches, in parks, in forests and even on a cliff! I appreciate that it can be hard to get a feel for the material without seeing it in real life, but I hope my answer helped a least a little. Let me know if you have any other questions Viktor

The blanket looks rather thin. Will sand, or grass, etc poke through while sitting or laying on it?

@Itay Thank you for backing and for commenting - we really appreciate it. All the bags are vegan friendly so you have plenty of choice! The brown bag has the vegan leather material on the entire outside surface and is a 25 euro upgrade (as the material is more expensive). In the pledge section it’s called the ‘vegan leather option’. I can see how the name is confusing since all the bags are vegan - sorry! The three other designs have colorful exterior patterns made from a woven cotton and still use the vegan leather for details like the reinforced corners. You can pick any of these designs with the standard pledge. Let me know if you have any other questions! Viktor

Hey summer gear crew!
I have a question..
I am vegan and I back the project.
Is there only one kind of vegan bag? Or there are more examples?

@Azi Thank you so much for the nice comment - great to hear that you like the concept and the design! Like other drawstring bags the length of the straps are not adjustable as such. They are standard length and will fit virtually everybody quite well. There's also the sternum/chest strap which will let you 'clip' the strings together at the front. This brings the position of the bag up higher and has a similar effect to 'shortening' regular straps. Let me know if you need more information or photos etc. and I'll be happy to provide it. Viktor

Hi! I love the smart concept and amazing design of this bag (:
I was just wondering if the straps are adjustable?

@Kirandae Awesome to hear that you like the bright and bold designs, we spent a lot of time picking them from hundreds of options. And yep you’re right, it will indeed still be possible to add additional blankets at the end of the campaign. Viktor

The bag and blankets look beautiful, I love the bright colours.
I guess, I can add additional blankets with the pledge manager at the end of the campaign, too?

@Idan You know what they say right? Great minds think alike ;) We're really happy to hear that you like the project. There are four designs for the bag and six designs for the blankets. You can see images of all the different bags near the rewards overview at the bottom of the page. The blankets are best seen on the GIF near the top of the page. We'll update the page to make the options more clear and add more pictures. Thanks for the feedback! Viktor

Hi guys
First of all great project! Had the same idea a few years back and it’s great to see someone picking up the glove and bringing it into action! Can you post a picture of all designs of bags and blankets? Thanks,
Idan

@sarah Portability was important for us when designing the bag so good to hear it came across in the final product. Soon you can picnic anytime, anywhere With regards to the material of the main bag it’s a woven cotton fabric, thicker that the blanket and a different type of material altogether. It’s called ‘jacquard fabric’ and the patterns you see are woven into the fabric itself. It give a great feel to the bag, it looks awesome and it’s very durable so after testing a lot of different options it’s the one we felt best fit all our needs. I hope that answers your questions? If anything is still unclear or you would like more details just ask away! Viktor

@Naddycted That’s so much for the encouraging words, we’re really happy you like the idea and the designs. We’re using the sternum strap a lot ourselves especially for biking / hiking etc. I see we have another vote for making the blanket water resistant - noted! Thanks again for your support.

I really like the idea of the bag and its portability. I've always had a problem storing the picnic blanket and carting it around. In terms of the normal bag, could I enquire as to what fabric is used for the actual bag. Is it the same as the blanket?

Hey there! Just wanted to say I really like the color options!
And the idea of a water resistant blanket is really good - I‘m from Germany, too and we could really use that 😊!
Also the sternum strap looks nice! With those bags it was always a problem for me keeping it from slipping over my shoulders.. so this is really really awesome!

@Lena We're happy you like the idea! Several of our team members have lived in rainy countries (Denmark and Ireland) so totally get where you're coming from. The blanket fabrics do have a waxed coating that make them somewhat water repellent. Droplets of water run off the surface, but if you lay it down on very wet ground some moisture could soak through. We'll look into coatings that could make e.g. the bottom of the blanket completely water proof/resistant. Thanks so much for your feedback! - Viktor

Hey, i really like the blanket idea.
Is it in anyway water repellent on one sideor could you make it that way? I live in Germany and rain is quite common, so it would be nice to be able to put it down on wet ground without getting wet too..

@Archimede Thanks for the support - we're happy you like the project. Adding more color options is definitely something we'll consider. If the campaign continues to go well it could be a nice stretch goal. And we agree - dark grey sound awesome! Thanks for the suggestion and stay posted for more on this later in the campaign

Hi, nice project. Would it be possible to have a plain white or - better dark grey version?

@Selah Thank you so much for backing our campaign! We're really grateful for your support. 1. We understand that you don't live near the beach so you might not need the blanket. That's one of the reasons why we made it detachable! You can leave it at home or just bring it when you go to the park etc. Unfortunately it's not possible to reduce your pledge and opt out of the blanket. We'll send you a private message about upgrading to the vegan leather version -
I'm sure we can figure something out :) 2. The blankets are made from 100% cotton. They are light enough to fold and carry without taking up space in the bag, yet surprisingly durable. They are hemmed all along the edge so if you try to tear one with your hands you won't be able to (unless you're much stronger than us - we tried and couldn't do it!). We've been using one of our blankets for almost a year now and it looks as good as new. Hope this answered your question? We're happy to show you more pictures or videos if you're interested. Thanks again and let us know if you have any other comments / questions!

Hii, as I m not living near the sea or lake and would use just the bag in my daily commute trips, can I reduce my pledge with the blanket's price? if not Can I change my pledge to the vegan leather bag with the difference of the two product (5 eur more) ? (and yes I know that a blanket could be useful but it is out of my ordinary lifestyle). txs 2. what is the material of the blanket , it seems a bit too thin and weak...
