ive had mostly problems with my device. First one bricked itself, after a few month i got a new one, now after about ten month the second one is gone. I mailed 3 times since a week ago but no answer. Very disapointing.

Thanks for the update and apologies for a late response. I would like to hold on for the internal WiFi option. Thanks.

Agree with Adam. Some clarification would be great

So, if I take the current version (built in WiFi but not working) and the bugs are fixed, will I be able to update the firmware on the FP with all the fixes ? it is very unclear as if I had to send it back for this update I would be out of pocket with postage from the UK and back. I dont mind having to have a tool on my Mac to do an update via a USB cable as I have to do this with other products anyway. Please confirm as I just want my unit so I can use it and update later

Just as an FYI I have been using my non wifi version for over a year and I have not had problems with my FP...It really is a great time saver and a welcomed piece of gear in my bag....

Hi. Thanks for the update but I prefer you to return my money back. What information do you need to do that? Thank you.

I'm also waiting for the WiFi version. I understand things can go adrift and am glad there's at least the intent to still deliver something. I had hoped for a perhaps a bit better flow of information. But thank you for at least this 'sign of life'. Lastly, I am not interested in any 'Finger Caddy' whatever-it-is-thingy and I'd rather trade it for another update in email form in a few weeks from now. Appreciated.

I'm waiting for the Wifi version as well but at this point can i get it without the Wifi?
thanks for the update.

SOOO Glad to see the e-mail from you. I have no problem in waiting until you get the bugs fixed. Please communicate with us at least once a month, even if it is just to say, "I'm still alive and still working on the project".
Again, I will wait for the WIFI complete.
Thank you

@joel. I would be happy with a non Wi-fi version at this point as well. We will see what he does but I won’t hold my breath.

reached him today !!!
I strongly suggested to post update and find a way to solve this long delay issue.
Personnally if he could come with solution with non wifi, I would take it to avoid more delays.
He promissed me to put update so we will see if he respect his words.

Don't expect Kickstarter to be of any assistance, when projects get into difficulty or collapse altogether. They respond to backers' emails with 'cookie cutter' responses, absolving themselves completely and saying that backers need to contact the creator and resolve any issues with them. (Kickstarter have received their cut and are take no responsibility for the fulfilment of the backers' rewards)
I am aware of this from the TIKO 3D printer project which I backed. Other examples of Kickstarter behaving in the same manner include Zano drone, Coolest Cooler, Peachy Printer. In each case, backers were on their own.
I'm sorry if this is unpleasant to hear, but that is the reality and why I no longer back Kickstarter projects.

I did contact Kickstarter two times, and even if they say they are sorry, they ask to contact seller to try to find a way to solve. In other words manage it on your own.
But yes, all of us should write anyway

I think everyone should contact kickstarter and get them to do something! I already did, everyone needs to get onto them!

@Daniel Sieff: I stand to be corrected but I believe Digital foci was another venture run by Charles Huang, the creator of this project. If you look at my post, further down the page, you will see the relevant project links.

@Larry Rose are you saying the business has been sold to Digital Foci? That means we won’t get anything if DFI went into liquidation and some other business had to take over, the last update from DFI was very depressing even though they said they had the solution for the wifi version sorted he also said that he was paying a lot of the development out of his own pocket, he must have been going into serious debt and had to hand over the reigns or get out. Unfortunately means no products for us, should we start contacting digital foci?

I'd love it if someone would give them a knock on the door and find out wtf they are doing.

As far as Amazon, Adorama are concerned, yes they are still in business. Amazon sells it for $349.00 for the 1TB, this comes from Adorama.
I'm still looking to see if there are current papers of corporation for them. Maybe the local chamber of commerce might help. I will post something next week.

The question is to know if they are still in business on whatever the name

Hi to all
I did a little research and found DGI address is 3111 Via Mondo, Compton, CA 90221 which has undergone a city name change to E. Rancho Dominguez. However, it is the same place. The name now is Digital Foci that sells the flash porter under a different name, "Picture Porter" There phone number is 1-888-669-3624.
Understand, I do not know if they will help us or not. but it is worth a call or go to there web site www.digitalfoci.com and request help.
Who knows maybe we have not lost everything.

Well, looks like this has been a total SCAM really, @Creator is no where to be seen and hasn't logged on since Sept 2017 and hasn't provided an update since Jan I think it was. I totally wish I had paid using my Credit Card now so I could charge back but I didn't. If the @Creator is reading these, just give me what you have so I have something to show for my money, its annoying you have provided some customers their units but not all. ALL FAITH IS LOST NOW

Can someone who lives where they are go there and find out what’s going on? Their address is on dfigear.com in Compton CA

@nick.does.bags: re: driver - It seems to be a specific issue with the Microsoft Surface Pro, the other devices mentioned in my previous post are as you say 'used standard USB plug and play'. But the Win 10 laptop is my wife's and the netbook is tethered to a printer as a print server, so the Surface was my go to.
nick.does.bags
Review from Kickstarter
Well it's annoying to say the least because I held off with good faith that he'd implement the internal wifi when I could have got the version you have and I'm in the majority here with those that haven't got anything to use or say for all that money we've put in. Not sure about the driver issues but I thought the thing just used standard USB plug and play?

@nick.does.bags: I'm sorry not all backers have received their rewards.
I'm backer #52 and have had my Flash Porter for quite a while, being in the first batch of deliveries. I really appreciate its functionality, but have been lurking here for news of the wifi function, as I backed the optional wifi dongle. I really hope the project hasn't collapsed, as it's a great idea and the actual unit met my need for an archive of my photos. Apart from an early issue with formatting the SSD and currently awaiting wifi connectivity , the only issue I have is finding a suitable driver for my MS Surface Pro 3 (Win 10). The Flash Porter is recognised and is usable on a netbook using win 8 (32 bit) and another laptop running in 10. Anyone found this issue and a solution?

Hi. I'm still waiting for my Kickstarter Flash Porter. When can I expect delivery? I was pledge # 80 and pledge $244.00 on October 5, 2016, that's 19 months ago. Your last update on Kickstarter was January 7, 2018.
nick.does.bags
Review from Kickstarter
Yes you'd have to screenshot and provide any correspondence you've had with the creator / kickstarter to try and resolve this. Your invoices (pledge amount etc) when the thing was due and so forth and proof there's been nothing or any form of resolve. This should be easy in this case. Then you'll have to wait that's the clincher.

Can you even do a chargeback this long after the charge?
nick.does.bags
Review from Kickstarter
Don't count on Kickstarter helping you. They won't at any means. You're best bet is to hope Charles comes through (which I doubt he will at this point) or you do a credit card charge back. That's you're only options.

is there a way to get a refund on kickstarter or completely useless and we consider money lost ?
Daniel Sieff
Review from Kickstarter
If there is no more updates, or this service has ended, I would like a refund now, it’s now 19 months since this Kickstarter started. As much I want to wait I also now feel that the lack of communication about the progress including unanswered private messages, even if you did supply the product now there would be lack of support for any issues we may have as you are not even answering your kickstarter community in general. We could now be getting a dud product. So please refund or give us an update on what’s going on!

Review from Kickstarter
This lack of communication from the DFI Gear team is extremely disappointing. I understand some times things don't go as planned. However, keeping people informed or even just facing them with the honest truth is enough to go out with your head high and the knowledge you did your best. In this case, I don't think the DFI Gear team has done what they should have done and this is terribly disappointing. Now every time I see the DFI Gear name, I'll think of this episode. Furthermore, this is as much a failure of Kickstarter as of the DFI team. Hiding behind the "you're backing a project; not buying a product" and leaving essentially no recourse or protection from within their ecosystem, is a giant "screw you" for the consumer. I've backed a few successful projects but this has really left a sour note. I will no longer be backing any other product on KS; the risks and rewards don't balance out at the end.

Well I've filed for a cc chargeback I don't see this being delivered to the remaining backers myself included.

Review from Kickstarter
So, still no update or even a comment, It looks like they have no skipped town in my eyes, its a shame, I was wanting this as when I started and backed the GNARBOX they had a delay of almost 2 years and thought it would never arrive. IT DID and it is awesome, DFI on the other hand have just let everyone down over and over again. GNARBOX have now KS version two which kicks this out of the water and well the atmosphere as well. So I have backed them with a delivery for Dec which I probably still wont have the DFI product. Cheers for stealing my money and not supplying. If you do read this please can I have my unit which will be useless to me anyway but I would like to have what I backed. The lack of comms, updates and well anything is very very bad from a customer services point.

At this rate hate to say it I'll have to try and do a credit card charge back. One of many Kickstarters now... getting tired of these well meaning campaigns turning out to be failures/scams.

Yeah I'm feeling the same way, I received the incorrect order (asked for internal WiFi) the unit that did turn up has issues and doesn't work properly, Was told originally yeah no problems we will get the internal WiFi working and we will replace it. But I'm starting to think its never going to happen DFI If you actually read this we need a resolution if it can't be done just say so we can do external WiFi and move on.

sooo incredibly frustrated...I have tried every-which-way to contact Charles, to no avail. My flash Porter was delivered but
1. it had a bad battery, so it did not work.
2. installed the back up battery, and the unit had so many glitches, I could not get it to work. I now have a very expensive 500GB paperweight. SOOOOOO DISAPOINTED. Is it worth it to invest in a kickstarter project, ever again?
it is truly difficult to be respectful and considerate when writing this comment, when DFI Gear has blatantly ignored and disrespected all of us!

Just put me out of my misery. I really want the product but I am resigned to the fact that I will likely never actually see it. So just tell me whether I will get my unit or not. If not, at least I can stop checking to see if there has been some response.
