Editor's Rating
Discovered on 2018-06-04

Protect your head from injury with the Tozuda Head Impact Sensor. Incredibly simple to use, this sensor offers a reliable solution for concussion awareness. Tozuda sensors are able to detect forces in all directions. Likewise, they work within milliseconds of impact. Enduring normal or minor contact, the sensors only alert you to a potentially concussive hit. Tozuda sensors turn red once a significant impact has occurred, letting you know that you should be evaluated for a head injury. In addition, the sensors offer a simple attachment process and clear activation. Tozuda’s patented technology also allows the sensors to function without using electronics, making it affordable. Simply attach Tozuda to your favorite helmet for biking, motorcycle, football, hockey, and more to stay safe.

Hi Stephen, While we’re expecting to reach our goal within the next two days, we will absolutely work something out if our project isn’t funded. In the past we have processed orders on our website, so we’ll resume accepting orders there if need be. Additionally, we will be sure to honor early bird, family pack, and team pack discounts for those who pledged through Kickstarter. Katie

Isaac, We're having a little issue with the Kickstarter Live feature but we are waiting to hear back from KS support to see how we can make our stream's recording available! Hopefully I'll have more info for you before our campaign ends. Katie

Is there any scope to purchase these sensors if your project is not 100% funded on Kickstarter?

Hi Tozuda, I have pledged from the UK, as I think this product could really offer a benefit in the sport of bobsleigh as a quick reference guide for staff for the identification of potential concussion in athletes. Hopefully we can adjust postage later down the line and if the small trial run is successful I would be very interested in discussing the ability to roll this out across our other sister sports! Good luck with the production and project and I look forward to seeing and testing the final product!

Hi Anton, Thank you for your comment and your contribution! While concussion fears can deter many from enjoying contact sports, we want to emphasize concussion awareness in a way that allows users to enjoy their activities. Regarding your donation, we are working to sponsor athletes and teams located here in Philly who might not otherwise "splurge" on additional safety gear, such as head impact sensors. We're certain your sponsored sensor will end up in grateful hands. Thanks again for supporting the movement! Katie

Hi Jessie,
I’m not used to high impact sports like you have in the states, and they can honestly look seriously dangerous, especially for kids.
A great, caring, product and I hope future policy requires all children to have this (or similar) protection.
I’ve “sponsored” a player and I hope you are aiming to support children in sports programmes of schools where funding and safety might be limited :)
Good luck you!

Hi Paul, Great question. First off we determine our set point by age, activity, and level of play(which we will send surveys out for). One of the difficulties with concussions is that most of the signs and symptoms are behavioral. Our device is an objective method based on impact level to determine if a user should seek medical attention and enter their program’s concussion protocol. It is to be used along with observation of users behavior.

I think this is a great idea, but I wonder about the choice of threshold. It seems to me that setting it at a level where there's a 60% likelihood of concussion may lead some users to have a false sense of confidence. If the sensor turns red, they definitely need checking, but if the sensor doesn't turn red, can people be confident there's no concussion?
