Discovered on 2018-06-07

Keep your house safe with the Olarm Smart Home Security System. Complete with a hub and sensors, this next generation system performs multiple functionalities. Each Olarm sensor can detect motion, door/window, smoke, water leak and temperature/humidity. Furthermore, one Olarm sensor is enough to cover an entire room. The wireless sensors are also self-alarming, which means that you don’t have to arm or disarm them every time. It utilizes multiple signals like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS from smartphones in your house to intelligent arm and disarm your home. Olarm even learns your lifestyle and adapt to it by monitoring your daily activaties and location. Using patent-pending technology, you can simply peel-n-stick the smart sensors wherever you like. Afterward, download the app and follow the steps to finish setting it up.

@Olarm -Cool. Awesome. Only the 3 or 6 months offered here would have expired by then. Still something and it would be good if worldwide that is for sure. +1 I watched the INTRODUCTION VID and have a few questions: 1) WATER TEST: What if an inquisitive pet decided to sniff it and touched the sensor (near flor) with a wet muzzle or paw? Would that still set off the alarm? 2) MOTION TEST: At what distance (furtherest) would the monitor pick up anything? 3) The smoke alarm was quite close to the sensor - so at what distance would it have to pick up the smoke alarm sound? I have noticed mostly everything right now is up close and personal with the sensor, but I do also realize it is something still being developed fully as well.

Hi @Isaac
Yes, the invitee will have to download the Olarm app to control the system when they are given access. And of course you can remove their access at any time. Furthermore, you can choose to give them access on specific days and times, in addition you could choose to receive a notification every time they Arm or Disarm the system.

Hi @WYTng
Every sensor has a built-in fully integrated complementary metal-oxide semiconductor. This facet allows the sensor to detect the temperature and humidity conditions in real time and will automatically notify you if the temperature and humidity is abnormal.

Hi @PalmBear
1- There is no limit to the number of users that can have access to your system for arming, dis-arming, monitoring, taking action, etc. Each from his/ her own phone. 2-The system relies on wi-fi, bluetooth and GPS to intelligently arm/ dis-arm your system. You can also use the pre-set feature to schedule specific actions. 3- In that case, you can use the scheduling feature until he gets his own phone. Let us know if you have any further inquiries.

@Olarms: Bringing this backup... Just a few questions: 1) Australia has phased out 3G (still phasing it out) and is mostly 4G now - so will this device still work? 2) What is the warranty on it? Especially Internationally as some products are not protected outside of the USA. 3) If the device is faulty or becomes faulty within the first year - what happens then and especially if not in the USA or CANADA?

@WYTng - I think if it detects humidity something must be in place for it to work with all kinds of temperatures. However, this is probably better answered by Olarm. FAQS: 10-How does temperature/humidity sensor work? Every Olarm™ sensor has a built-in fully integrated complementary metal-oxide semiconductor. This facet allows Olarm™ to detect the temperature and humidity conditions in real time and will automatically notify you if the temperature and humidity is abnormal.

Does it support multiple users (with different iPhones and accounts) for the auto arming / disarming part? Auto arm should only occur when the last person leaves the house and auto disarm when the first person enters the house. On top of that, does it support auto arming based on a schedule (23:00 until 07:00 for example) even if all users are in the house? Also, how to proceed once my child is old enough to come back from school alone whilst me and my wife aren’t home and the system is armed? He doesn’t have his own phone and won’t get one for a long time, how can he disarm the system then without a phone?

Does system use our home WiFi to communicate through our handphone or computer for setting and arm or disarm the system?

Do you have a switch to shutoff the whole system when we do not need it and on it back when we want it.
Can the system allow multi users that means any alarm on any sensors will sent to a few people in the family and either one of them can reset the alarm by their handphone.

Hi @DaveReedijk
Thanks for your interest in Olarm.
1- Yes the batteries are 4xAA rechargeable.
2- Cellular backup is an add-on service, you're not required to pay for it, but it's an added feature for the peace of mind. The cellular backup could be activated or deactivated anytime from the app, there is a $5/monthly fee to activate it. We will soon provide an International SIM card to our customers outside of the US and Canada.
3- Thank you for your feedback, we are in fact working on making a bracket as you stated, as a result of similar feedback from other customers like your self.
4- While it's hard to estimate because the sensors could have different coverage depending on the place and the angle in which they are mounted. However, after installing the sensor, the app will let you test it so you can tell right away if it's covering the space you need or not. If it doesn't, by simply changing it's location or the angle it could be adjusted until the unit is covering the area in which it's intended to cover.
5- Well if a loud noise is detected it is recorded and sent through our servers to your mobile phone and to your email, it is only stored temporarily for a few minutes until it's sent to the customer and then deleted from our servers. Since Olarm doesn't come with a camera, there is nothing else that we can possibly record that is invasive to ones privacy. We do however keep a log of events, like when the system is armed/disarmed, door is opened or closed...etc for your review. You can always choose to delete this history of events at anytime though. I hope this answers your question.
6- The Hub does come with an ethernet port, as a matter of fact we recommend that you connect it using that ethernet cable, it's with no doubt more reliable and secure than WiFi.
7- Yes, absolutely. You can fully customize which sensors to be on or off at any time, you can also arm and disarm manually thought the app or set a schedule. As a matter of fact you can set sensors to be on 24/7 regardless if the system is armed or not.
8-The hub comes with an automatic voltage switching, meaning it will work anywhere in the world.
9- You can either request it from here and add the cost to your pledge amount then message us requesting the extra sensors or you can order them through our website upon receiving your package. The price per extra sensor is $25.
We hope this covers all your questions. Let us know if you have any further inquiries.

Hi @Isaac,
Location service is always on by default on your iOS or Android, Olarm app like any other location depended app (ex: home automation, like nest and arlo) uses your location to arm and disarm the system automatically. If you like to completely turn locations services off on your mobile phone, then you can use scheduled arm and disarm at preset times, or you can manually arm and disarm from the app.

Hi @Isaac
Thanks for your interest in Olarm.
No, the sensor is to be installed on important entry points so you can be notified when they are opened or closed. However we recommend installing a sensor on every room you wish to monitor. This will ensure no one can enter your home without being detected. The motion sensor is far more reliable than door and window sensors, that's why we are trying to shift away from door and window sensors and depend more on motion and body heat detection.

Hi @MikePhengthirath
1- If someone forgot their phone at home, and the system is set to auto-arm, the system will not arm and will not be monitoring. But if that's an ongoing problem, you can set the system to ARM and Disarm at a pre-defined times to avoid that.
2- Of course, moreover the app will let you test each sensor after installing it. So you can easily tell if the sensor is covering the area you wish to monitor or not.

Hi guys, I have some questions for you: Question 1: about the battery fallback of the Hub. Can rechargeable batteries be used? In other words, when there is a power outage and the power comes back on again, are the batteries automatically recharged?
Question 2: I'm not really clear on the cellular failover. "With a reliable cellular connection, Olarm™ can assure you are covered." Does this create a cellular internet connection or is a monitoring plan required? FAQ 30 states this, but FAQ 31 does not mention this ... If so then this is not really inline with what this product stands for ... also how will this then work outside of the US and CA?
Question 3: Is the only way to attach the sensor by using double sided tape? We often have structured plastered ceilings in Europe which do not play well with double sided tape... A more permanent solution would be great like a holder that you can attach to a surface (screw) and where the sensor can be clicked in...
Question 4: What is the coverage of a sensor. You mention that you need/recommend 3 to 5 sensors for a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom apartment, but you don't mention the actual coverage (feet/meters) of a sensor. I other words what is the maximum distance between sensors to get a "seamless" grid/coverage.
Question 5: When I use the FREE self-monitoring, will there still be a connection with Olarm™ (FAQ 29)? I'm very privacy and security conscious, so I would like to know what data is exchanged and stored on your side/servers (also in light with the EU GDPR).
Question 6: What I have read from the different sections is that the Hub is only linkable to the internet via Wifi (and cellular fallback) and does not have an ethernet connection (which is saver, because Wifi is fairly simple to hack into and I want it outside the main network and only more professional Wifi AP have this option)? Is this correct? Because the perk states that it comes with an ethernet cable?...
Question 7: If you do not choose to use auto arm, can you arm the alarm (all sensors or section) manually? Hereby creating the option of a "keypad" (phone with the app) for example at an entrance. You also want the option to alarm for example the ground floor sensors when you go to bed...
Question 8: Does the Hun come with a EU compatible power adapter?
Question 9: How do I add more sensors to the pledge?
Eric Voight
