Slights Motion Stair Lights

Light up the night and watch your step with the Slights Motion Stair Lights. Running along your stairs, these bright lights are complete with motion sensors to detect your presence. As you approach, they instantly turn on, guiding your path up or down the stairs. The Slights are elegant and simple. The long string of lights is tasteful and sophisticated yet totally practical. In addition, the Slights are also energy efficient. Because they only turn on when you approach, you don’t need to worry about ever turning them off. In fact, they automatically turn off after 30 seconds, more than enough time to go up or down. Or, you can change the time to anything that suits your family’s needs. The Slights feature a flexible LED string. They’re compatible on virtually any staircase and can even conform around corners.

Sorry it did not work out, but I'll be there for the new campaign.

Sorry the first program didn't work out. I was looking forward to receiving my product. However, I'm still very interested and look forward to the new campaign. Battery is fine. AC would be even better except you would have a cord running from the stairs to an outlet. Might be ugly.

Please I hope you can do this per your last update. Count me in!!

Wish it would have happened this go around. I am looking forward to getting a product like this to make my stairways safer.

I wish I could offer both versions but its not in our budget right now.
Sorry to see you go, but thanks for the initial support!

If you're making them all battery powered then I will be withdrawing my backing. I want the lights plugged in so I can fit and forget, if they are battery powered then the batteries would need to be replaced eventually.

Hey Paul, There's an update we just put up, check it out and tell us what you think! Always thankful for the support!

Hey Paul, While these are water resistant, we would not recommend putting them outside. We would love to make an outdoor version soon, however! All the best,

Hey Nicky, We were planning on making them all battery operated because they look better and are much more convenient this way. Did you still want a plug powered version, and if so I would love to hear why (so we can decide if we should offer both versions)! Thanks,
Ayesha

Hi. Not looking good :-( Do you have a back up plan if this does not succeed as I really want these? Cheers

Are these waterproof or is there anyway to use them on outdoor staircases ?

Will they all be battery operated or is there an option to still have a plug powered version?

Hey Micheal,
I apologize for the late response- we were talking with our manufacturers and yes- they will be battery operated! (originally were not).

I do not have a convenient outlet near my stairs. Is it battery powered?

Hey Rob, Sorry to hear it won't work for you (just on a side note- we have the Slights installed in lots of houses with children and haven't found this to ever be a problem; they are definitely not bright enough to flash into your eyes and wake you up). Thank you for your interest, however, and we would love to see you back if we come out with a brightness setting! Thanks Again!

Hey Danny, First off, thank you for your pledge and sorry to hear you fractured some bones- this is exactly the type of injuries we hope the Slights will prevent. By "first" we mean a completed and easy to install product that everyone can afford and use. It's quite surprising that there isn't one on the market! Also, thank you for asking: we are currently trying to find a manufacturer that will help us with making all the Slights battery powered- it would mean that we do not need separate US and UK versions and would improve aesthetics overall. We want to keep the Slights affordable so will only do this if it does not drastically raise the price. We will keep everyone updated on this! Thanks again for your contribution!

Sorry, then I’ll have to cancel my pledge... I have small children and don’t want to wake them up whenever I walk up the stairs and I can’t dim the lights before. Good luck, looks like a great product anyhow! Hope you’ll reach your goal!

I forgot... Have you looked into making a battery powered version?

Review from Kickstarter
Not so sure you are the first with this as I have seen many mostly kit and/or instruction videos on making one. But it is the best pricing I have seen for it. I do have some other motion activated light on my stairs. (top, middle, bottom) I have wanted to do the whole stairway. I hope you can get the funding to get these very affordable lights to our stairs. And yes I have missed a few steps in the dark and fractured some leg bones.

Hey Paul,
Thanks for backing our project! As I told Rob: Currently, there is NOT a dimmer option- we would like to stick to just one generic model before adding variations. The lights seem brighter and whiter in the picture and video but have a warmer hue in reality. We decided on these specific lights because they are bright but not blinding- especially when its completely dark (also, since they are close to the floor they are even dimmer). Again, thanks for your support!

Will the leds be dimable? And how?

Review from Kickstarter
Hello Gareth- thanks for checking out our project and supporting us! 1. Yes- we will be collecting information about the cable length, plug type, etc. after the campaign (hopefully!) successfully ends.
2. We definitely want to provide custom color, color changing, brightness setting, etc. options but only after we get the original product up and running or if we reach over the initial goal amount!
3. Again- this would be a great feature but only after we have the original product launched successfully. Thanks for the questions- its great to hear feedback and new ideas! :)

Hey Nicky,
I apologize if I wasn't clear: we will be creating two different versions- an American/ Canadain plug for 120v and one that comes with the European plug type. This way, the European version will be specially designed to handle the 220-240 volt range. Please tell me if this answers your question! Thanks again! -Ayesha

Hey guys - love the project :)
Just a few questions
1) I presume when asking about extra power cable std that will be done as a backerkit survey post (hopefully)successful campaign?
2) any thoughts re multicoloured lighting?
3) thoughts regarding integration into google home or amazon Alexa app e.g. hey alexa- turn the stairs blue! Keep up the good work guys :)
All the best

Thanks for your reply. I'd be a bit concerned about plugging a 120v appliance in to a European outlet without an adaptor or voltage converter. Will the Slights be compatible with 220-240v or will they burn out or short out with the extra voltage?
Ayesha Iqbal
Review from Kickstarter
Hey Nicky,
Thanks for the interest! The standard Slights are powered by a 120-volt power outlet- the cord is about 3 feet long but we offer longer wires if needed. In the case you live outside of the US, we will be sending a compatible plug type.
Nicky Mattsson
Review from Kickstarter
As other have asked, will a converter/power adaptor for Europe where we use 220-240v?

Review from Kickstarter
Hey Scott,
Thanks for the support, the slights are roughly 17 feet long and the average staircase is about 12 feet long, whereas ours in the video is about 15 feet long, please keep in kind that the Slights are also length adjustable, meaning that if you feel it is too long you can simply remove the excess length.
Thanks again,
Slights Team

Hello Mr and Miss Slight. Could you please provide the exact length of the Slight so I can pre- measure my odd shaped stair case. I could not find this information in the campaign notes.

How are you, Robert?
That is a very important question that you asked, the Slights use LEDs and it acts like a rope, so it is able to wrap around any staircase!
Thanks for the support,

Hi, Same question as Andreas... Additional: stairs often have a bend(s) in it (https://www.google.nl/search…:). Can the Slights handle that? BTW: I don’t need a T-shirt or a sticker, a reward for twp Slights without those would be apperciated ;-) Success,
Robert

I like the idea! But missing some information. How is it powered (110 Volt, 240 Volt, USB,...)? Do I get the needed powerplug vor Europe?

I'm glad to see you're back. I backed this last time https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/723257780/the-slights-an-amazing-new-product-for-your-stairs but $10,000 seems like a lot for a single $30 product. Last time you only had 8 backers, but now you're going to need 300. You guys need to sell, sell, sell. Good luck!
