mydbell – Smarten Up Your Doorbell

Editor's Rating

Never miss the doorbell anymore with mydbell. Designed exclusively for gamers, smart home enthusiasts and the hearing impaired, this is a new device that connects your doorbell with your smartphone, tablet, Windows PC and Mac. That way, you’ll always get a notification whenever there is a new guest at the door. It enhances your existing old doorbell, but if the doorbell chime is not needed anymore it can be replaced by it. The mydbell system has an open source network interface which can be easily integrated into your existing smart home systems. The unique mydbell transmitter uses the doorbell’s existing power in order to send a wireless signal to the gateway when ringing. There, the mydbell gateway analyses the signal and sends it to your device via the router. The Windows PC software has a desktop mode with popup and sound notification and a gaming mode that only has sound notification to prevent video games from minimizing. All the softwares have the option to activate a Voting mode if they want to use it. In this mode, as soon as the doorbell rings everybody in the house linked with the hardware gets a notification and can vote iGO (I will open the door) or uGO (you have to open the door) in order to answer the doorbell. The hardware of the mydbell consists of a transmitter connected parallel to the doorbell chime from which it gets the power [no batteries, no external powersupply] and a gateway connected via LAN cable to your internet router which is powered by a micro USB powersupply. Made in Germany, this smart doorbell will always help you answer the door even if you aren’t able to hear it personally.
