Octopus is the first icon-based watch that teaches kids good habits and the concept of time. First off, it’s a watch. It gives the time with icons, making it the first clock that young kids can actually read and understand. It helps children conceptually link time to events. It’s also a scheduler for children, which helps foster responsibility, independence and self-esteem. Parents can program visual reminders from their smartphone that pop up on the kid’s watch (icon+vibration). Finally, Octopus is an assistant that helps you, parents, prioritize expectations and stay consistent with daily routines. It provides tips and personal notes. It also reminds you to remind your kids!

Will I still get a notification that the task was completed if I’m not on the same WiFi or Bluetooth? Say I’m at work and my child is at home, will the notification still come to my phone?

They have not shipped to their backers. I have started sending out emails Ellen, 60 mins, Target etc. About how they forgot about their backers and disappointed thousand of children in the process. Target did respond and they will be addressing this with their management team. I encourage ALL US

Several of the watches of backers that hv rcvd watch hv defects. Some were very obvious n shud not hv been shipped out. Still wtg on a ship date. I hv been told shpg but hv heard that since June. Joy refuses to state ship date

I just got the watch, but its NOT WORKING! I paid so much and waited 4 months to get it. It shows half of the screen, the corner button is hard to press. I did what the instructions said to do and NOTHING, this watch doesn’t work. I would like my money back please.

works great! Except a choice of size of bracelet and an option with velcro would have been very useful for the bigger kids, or less dextrous.

SAVE YOUR MONEY PRODUCT IS CRAP! I had sponsored the project on kickstarter. Now after receiving the watch that will not work, I have yet to get any response from the owners. VERY POOR QUALITY AND VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. It was a great idea with VERY POOR EXECUTION.

Joy insists on not taking care of the broken watch. Saying they are a US company and don't have to offer warranties. They simply won't taker any responsibility for offering a faulty product. BEWARE OF VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!

Hello, I wrote you that my watch doesn't work. Your support has replied that it is no longer under warranty. Somehow she believes that you only have to give 3 months of warranty even is you are legally bound to give 2 years of warranty for sales in Europe. Please follow the consumer laws and please make sure that I get my watch repaired or replaced. It will not charge and will therefore not sync.

I just saw the response from the post that I posted back in December, I never got a kickstarter alert saying you responded - sorry for the delay. The app is not complicated, it is just very finicky on my IOS device. I guess I am just not used to android products and it just does not "flow" as well as my IOS based apps. I have since deleted the app so I cannot think of a specific example; the watch is collecting dust unfortunately. I was a backer pretty early on and I do not think that the screen offset was addressed until after my purchase. My daughter gets panicky and anxious about it because she insists that it's broken. (Like I mentioned she is OCD and a very intelligent 5 year old. She thinks that hers was made wrong because it doesn't go edge to edge like when I first showed her the watch [like in the promo video].) Also the button became too much of a problem for her little fingers to press. I hate that we feel this way, I just thought you should know. I wish I wouldn't have gotten it.

Hi joy My watches don’t work I can’t use the browser it says there’s a problem with backend and I can’t use the app it won’t sync. I contacted support weeks ago and last I heard I think two weeks ago is they were passing onto an engineer. What’s going on no one is contacting me and my watches are useless. You need to give me a refund if you won’t sort this out.

Hey Joy. Having just moved my 5 year old sons watch on from pictorial to digital he is loving his watch more than ever. My 3 year old daughter now also wants one as well. Haha! I was wondering how the watch is doing? Are you able to share how you are doing sales wise at all? It would be lovely to hear some post campaign news from the company. giving review after my 2 kids used it for a few month
the watch at first looks great, after 1st month then it start to fall apart (mostly because of the way my kids use them)
should have v2 as the other backer said, but with a much sturdier materials

I have still not received my shipment of 2 watches , I have been connecting with post office they have still not received the shipment , please send in reliable post and not from US post i have received 2 shipping IDs now the second one also expired , first one expired almost 2 month back . Please send it via DHL or UBS . I have backed multiple project and i have no issue receiving the product .
Please look into this ASAP and let me know if i can get new shipping info .

Just received my Octopus Watch, The form factor is great for my 4yo. However, I have the same disappointment as the other backers: The activation button is much too hard for my child to push and this watch doesn't keep proper time.
The app could use more polishing and drag and drop, or Ajax style editing.
The concept is great - it needs a v2!

@Kurik, Sorry to say, but posting every month the same thing is spam. We've explained, we published videos, we refunded unsatisfied backers. How could you say that this campaign was terribly managed. You have no clue how hard it is to bring to life a connected device to market. And if we did a Kickstarter it's because it was the first time for us. That's why it's not perfect. We are learning.
What I see here is a vendetta and I don't understand why. I tried to start a dialogue with you in private, and you keep posting publicly your frustration. YOU ARE NOT A BACKER ANYMORE, WE REFUNDED YOU. Now that you have discredited yourself, move on with your life and leave us doing our job.

I am simply stating my opinion on this terribly managed campaign which was not only terribly late, full of errors but also under delivered it's product. I have been trying to contact Joy several times. I was a backer and I pledged $80 plus $21 in shipping for one watch. I appreciate this campaign and all of the strives it has made, however, with that being said I am relatively disappointed with my final project. I am a leukemia survivor/disabled mom of a 5-year-old who is extremely intelligent and OCD about her daily life. I got this watch to try to help her maintain a schedule that she can learn since she is so meticulous about her day to day. The first thing that she noticed is the oddly sized screen on the watch.. it does not fill from edge to edge like all of the prototype photos. She insists that her watch is "broken" because of it. Also, the parental app is not super friendly - it seems very unstreamlined. I wish I had the opportunity to return this as I am pretty disappointed with the end product.

These fees vary by country and are ALWAYS the responsibility of the person receiving the package. This is common knowledge. It's simply a part of shopping internationally. It is your responsibility as a consumer to be aware of your country's customs fees and taxes. Unfortunately, there is no way around paying them, as these are the fees your country has chosen to charge you for importing goods from another country.

I received a watch for my 4yo and the screen got scratched within a few days of use. The activation button is much too hard for my child to push and this watch doesn't keep proper time. I have reset it several times and synced with my pc to set the time and within a couple days it is wrong again. Very disappointed in this product as it has numerous flaws. I can't recommend this product for anyone unless several components are replaced in what is essentially a prototype product. It has potential that has not yet been achieved.

Hi Joy! First of all, I apologize for my English, it is not my native language and I try my best to be understood. It has been a long time since I sponsored this project and a lot since I was told that my product had been sent, unfortunately to this day, I do not have the watch I buy for my 4 year old daughter who will soon be 5. The shipment remained in customs and it is not my problem that this happens, you as a company should make sure that your product since it is bought reaches the hands of the people who bought it, I have no way to talk to the customs of my country because this is in a city more than 12 hours away and without any data with which I can claim or department to claim, it is impossible. It is not only for the money, because I could claim them to return it to me and it would be in my right. is because of the fact that I believed in you as a project and as a company, I feel betrayed when there are already other similar and probably better product options. I hope you can help me get my product or return the money.

Received my two watches but given cheap plastic feel, the ridiculously hard activate button and the very quick disappearing icon (I thought it would have been much easier for a child to view or at least capture their attention, but a black screen just doesn't cut it).
I have watched and read the development of this project but in the end it simply, in my opinion, never reached the heights that it could have and ended up being a clone of other seemingly better and more child friendly watches.
I am so disappointed in the poor child friendly interface and again that button that both watches have been relegated to redundant tech drawer. Oh and btw that screen is a joke, I am sure it scratched simply by touching it.
I accept that I backed a project but guys the reason I backed this was because it should have been a world leader and something that could and should have had parents rushing to buy but instead it has the feel of a 2 dollar toy watch from a thrift store. I believe you seriously missed a fantastic opportunity.
Overall incredibly poor showing and you will note I made no mention of selling to target before fulfilling your backers orders.

I have received my watch and the band is REALLY small but that is my smallest complaint. The red watch works for 4 seconds after being unplugged and then is unresponsive. The buttons on both watches are too hard for my 5yo to push effectively. So it just goes off and my 5yo can do nothing to acknowledge the task. They also do not retain any information of they die and require constant syncing. My gray one has already been scratched after 2 days of use. Not happy with the product I backed.

Well, we got two. Kids were excited. App was cool. Both scratched their screens easily first day out. Like, bad. Second day, one quit working. These things are crap guys. Plain and simple. Button was impossible to press, and looking at it tells me these things won't hold up to hand washing etc. bummed.

The item is currently in transit to the destination as of July 24, 2017 at 9:52 am. It is on its way to PARIS, VA 20130. Well, it is no further activity more than than one month as of today Sep 11 2017, and my ship-to address is Shanghai, China, not Paris.

I received the watch two weeks ago,and just opened.the box with my daughter. One comment apart from the hard-for-grown-up button: the screen is only partly lit. Only the upper two-third can see the backlight and the lower third is completely dark and not used. Is this the designor have I got a faulty product? Also, when it's time to do some task the watch doesn't turn on the screen.
