Sadly after a few months the glue on my USB drive didn't hold and the chip fell out. Also how do you clean it? Did anyone elses edge paint strip off? Not a big deal but would love to clean it up back to close to original. Orbitkey, can you help? Any info would be great. How can I replace my USB key?

Just thought I'd check in. Like I'm reading has happened to several others, the side-paint of the leather band on mine peeled away within the first month. Now that it is all gone, it generally works reasonably well. The locking mechanism does occasionally get loose or get very very tight.

Hey guys, really sorry for only getting back to you on here just now. And sorry to hear that some of you are experiencing some issues with your Orbitkeys. There are a few hiccups we’ve encountered with the new products, and we are doing our best to resolve any issues along the way. Our team are making improvements to ensure that we address them all. Of course, we want to be able to provide a fool-proof product to our backers, but given this is a new product, and most of the processes for version 2 are as as well, it definitely has been a learning experience for us too. And we really appreciate all your feedback, and for being a part of this journey with us! If you are experiencing issues with your Orbitkeys, do send us an email at hello@orbitkey.com, and our team will look after you the best we can. @Wim - thanks so much for your kind words. We try our best to make sure everyone is looked after! And there’s always room for improvements, and we are making small tweaks here and there, and definitely taking it into consideration for future products! @rdrigo - Hey Rodrigo, we had sent this out on the 12/05 direct from our Melbourne office. We hope that you have received this by now. If there are issues with the delivery, do send us a message at hello@orbitkey.com so we can assist you further. @Chris N. - Hey Chris, hope you had found something in the meantime! We like Grovemade loop or the Handgrey Knox. Hope this helps! @Daniel - Hey Dan, would you mind confirming your shipping address via the DM we sent to you, and we can organise your reward to be reshipped. @Chris G. - Hey Chris, appreciate you taking the time to provide us your feedback! And so sorry to hear you had issues with your Orbitkey and USB. We did have a few duds, and had encountered some cosmetic, and processes issues during production. Our team are continually making improvements on the products and fixing any issues we encounter along the way. In saying that, if you can send us a message on hello@orbitkey.com, we can have our team help you out. Thanks mate. @Josh - Hey Josh, thanks for your continued support! If in any chance you received a faulty band - please send us a photo at hello@orbitkey.com, and will look into it for you! And we hear yah about the tracker! Hopefully we can come up with something sooon!! @Meng - Hey Meng, so sorry to hear you still haven’t received your reward! I’ll look into this for you, and will reply to your DM. Thanks guys!! -Alfie

Hey Orbitkey key I love 2.0 However the leather just is peeling and creasing. Normal use . I'm very perdantic WOTH my Orbitkey's I have many, my family members love them. They all have them. Can't wait for 3.0. Stronger leather material.
Custom colours
Engraving,
Maybe stainless steel or stronger material.
Built in tracker in the band so we never loose our keys would be amazing.
Your the best ... because you a Melbourne company.. Josh

I wanted to share some feedback based on my personal experience using my Orbitkey 2.0. Having used my Orbitkey 2.0 as my main keyring/keyholder for several months now, it is now very clear that the v2 is vastly inferior to the original: 1) I, like several people, am now experiencing the leather 'peel' issue on the edges of the leather Orbitkey 2.0, which is exacerbated by the fact the D ring is not wide enough to accommodate the band. The leather band is poor quality and is ageing badly (unlike the original leather Orbitkey 1 I own, that I used everyday for years, and which remains in excellent condition). A clear example of cost-cutting and using inferior materials for the sequel. 2) the locking mechanism feels significantly weaker and more fragile than the original and frequently works loose, something the original never does. And yes, I have the correct number of washers and keys in place to fill it out and provide pressure/resistance. 3) the innards of the USB 3.0 stick fell out, and had to be glued back in. Again, something that has been previously reported. Fortunately, I didn't lose the guts of mine and was able to salvage it. It also takes up way more room in my Orbitkey than the 'key' style one in the original. The USB 3 stick was a poor design choice on numerous levels. If there is a an Orbitkey 3, I really hope that the focus goes back to using quality components instead of an abundance of component cost-cutting. Thanks

Greetings Orbitkey + backers, I have the black brushed metal locking mechanism and am looking for a nice key ring accessory to go w/ it. I remember someone posted something a while back but I'm unsure when. Could someone suggest me a good key ring that'd go w/ this?

I know there are some issues that need to be addressed (maybe in Orbitkey 3.0?) but I must say, a big thumbs up for the great service. A lot of companies could learn a thing or two from you guys! I have been using the Orbitkey 2.0 these past couple of months and it's great. I wouldn't hesitate one bit to pledge again if you are starting a new and interesting project. All the best!

Review from Kickstarter
@Newguy - Hey mate, sorry to hear you’re having issues with it! Because the black hardware is a coating on the stainless steel metal parts, there is a tendency for the colour to fade over time with regular use. In saying that, the colour shouldn't fade as much unless it has been scratched off forcefully. The silver mechanism only goes through a buffing process, and is not coated so colour fading shouldn’t occur. Can I trouble you to email our support team at hello@orbitkey.com, with a photo of the locking mechanism/s? and will get our team to look into this for you. Thanks Harvey. @Philip - Hey Phil, can I trouble you to send us your current shipping address at hello@orbitkey.com, and will get a replacement band sent out to you. @Sean - Hey Sean, sincere apologies for the delay in getting your reward to you. I can see that there had been some issues with the delivery and reshipment, and that our team have organised another shipment for you. Unfortunate to say we do depend on third party services, and it does take some time for us to coordinate with the related parties involved to try and resolve any issues, especially involving shipping. We are confident you will receive your reward in your mailbox hopefully in the next week or so. Again, we do apologise for the very long wait. Thanks guys. -Alfie

Hi, I am experiencing an issue where the leather band is cracking where it touches the D-ring. I've been using it for only a month and afraid the stitching will come apart very soon. Here's a photo: http://i.imgur.com/b49PXHf.jpg

Great concept the rubber is lasting well but the locking mechanism just looks awful after a couple of weeks in my pocket. I've been through 3 now, the coating is just not tough enough. Does not matter whether its black or silver. shame really

Review from Kickstarter
@Dasman - Hey Dave, thanks for the feedback! We have made the D-ring for version 2 a lot smoother to eliminate the leather splitting over time. We did however encounter some issues with some batches for the first production run that have a slight manufacturing fault (cosmetic as you mentioned). The paint used was not binding well with the protective layer on the edges, which we have now fixed.. Do send us a message at hello@orbitkey.com if you are experiencing this problem, and will make sure you’re looked after! @Andre - Hey Andre, appreciate your patience during the very long wait with the delivery! With the new design for the leather bands and the D-ring, we have addressed the issue regarding the band splitting and have changed our manufacturing processes from version 1. @J - Hey Johnny, oh no! Just checked our records and this was shipped out on the 6th Jan. Can I trouble you to send us a message too at hello@orbitkey.com with your shipping address to check against our records, and will get this sorted out for you. @Brent - Hey Brent, great to hear you’re loving your Orbitkey! But if you are having issues with it, feel free to send us a message, and if you can provide a photo as well, that would be ace! Thanks guys. -Alfie

D-ring and leather band probably rubbing together. Leather band sides coming off, stitching itself appears ok. Early backer, very late delivery (Canada). Was proud to show it of to friends. I don't carry it that often, it's most of the time on a table. Really premature old look now.
dasman
Review from Kickstarter
@orbitkey... I realize it's a cosmetic issue (now), but it means that the D-ring design with the leather is a bad combination. The d-ring will continue to rub the leather, until eventually the bond between the two leathers starts to separate and the stitching fails. If I was a couple years into ownership, then understandable. If it's happening after a few months, then design-wise something needs to change (ie., much more rounded/smooth d-ring; tougher edging on the leather; or a combination of both). I'll email something to the hello@orbitkey.com address

@Chris - Hey Chris, just checked with our team and we popped the washers in the mail which was sent out on the 8th. Hopefully you should receive this before the end of the month. @rdrigo - Hey Rodrigo, sorry to hear you’re missing the KS band! I’ll get our team to send one over to you right away. @Alexey - Hey mate, I’ll send you a direct message with your details, and hopefully we can sort this out for you. @dasman - Hey David, sorry to hear you’re having issues with your Orbitkey! It looks like the protective layer of coated paint on the edge is starting to peel away for you. The Orbitkey is still fully functional, even if you peel away this layer. It is more of a cosmetic issue more than anything. Would you mind sending us a photo of the faulty unit to hello@orbitkey.com, with your current shipping details, and will get our team to look after you. Thanks! -Alfie

Is anyone else having problems with the d-ring rubbing the side of the leather orbitkey? I have been carrying my black leather orbitkey for about 3-4 mths (since the day after I got it) and I noticed today that the black edge of the leather has worn down to raw brown leather. While I love the convenience of orbitkey, I'm wondering if the leather isn't quite up to the durability task.

Ordered the locking mechanism to use with my KS band, which arrived on Saturday - with no washers. Thus, rendering it completely useless. I have emailed you about this as well with order number and address details, but as you have never replied to my previous emails, not holding out much hope of a reply that way.

After only a month of using the key ring, and not even using the flash drive, the actual usable part of the flash drive has appeared to have come unglued and fallen out. As the most expensive part of the unit, this was extremely irritating.

@Marty999 - Hey Marty, can I trouble you to send us a photo of your Orbitkey at hello@orbitkey.com, and will get our team to look after you. We understand that we might not hit all the sweet spot on usability, and it does take some getting use to the Orbitkey.
As Cody has recommended, you can control the tension/ how tight you keep your keys in the Orbitkey to make it easier for you to swing a key out when you need it; even with one hand. @Augustine - Oh no! It sounds like the locking mechanism might have been overtightened. We normally recommend using a small coin to unscrew the mech.
I can suggest is hold your Orbitkey with your forefinger supporting the shaft (side with the OK logo), and anchor your thumb, and middle finger by holding down the side of the leather on the screw side, while you try and unwind the screw with a coin (facing you).
See photo in the link below: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bgnt3kccusg5iuy/Overtightened%20Mech.png… Likewise, here’s a video that will help too. It is for our version 1 Orbitkey, but should still work. Hope this helps. https://vimeo.com/91171941 @Cody - Thanks for helping out, and the feedback. And great use with a quick release clip! -Alfie

I would suggest not tightening it down so much I take my keys on and off and move it back and forth and between them. I leave mine just tight enough to keep the keys in place and tend to use a penny to get the screw on and off. I have the leather, canvas and rubber options. I've removed the drings and use 20mm copper and brass double loop key rings with a kappa quick connect attached. They seem pretty sturdy to me I keep four keys a thumb drive and a multi tool on mine.

Love this product! However I can't for the life of me unscrew this thing. I don't want to continue to use force as the leather is getting damaged, but I need to get rid of a key. Need help please!
Marty999
Review from Kickstarter
After using it for 2 weeks not, I am not very pleased with this product. As others have stated, the leather is not durable. The coating is rubbing off and there is a fine layer on the sides of the band that is pealing off. Moreover, it is not rigid. When you pull out a key, the whole band twists and mingles. It also takes two hands to pull out a key where as with no band, one hand suffices. If you have something in your second hand, using it can be frustrating.

@Pablo - Hey Pablo, so sorry to hear about your USB! Can I trouble you to send us a message at hello@orbitkey.com, and will get our team to make this right for you. @Jeffrey - Hey Jeff, thanks for filling out your survey! Hopefully you should receive your reward within the week or so. @Andrew - Hey Andrew, sorry to hear you're having issues with your Orbitkey! To give the leather band some extra strength for version 2, we gave it a protective layer of coating on the edge. But it looks like you may have received a faulty one, and the paint layer in not bonding well with the undercoat. Most of the components for version 2 are new - so while we have done our best to mitigate any product issues, we understand that there's a few kinks that need looking into. And our team are continually working on making improvements on future products. I'll reply to your message directly, and hopefully we can find a fix for you in the meantime. @Fredrik - Hey Fredrik, sorry to hear you still haven't received your reward! Had a quick check, and this was already shipped out on the 08/03. Can I trouble you to send us a message with your shipping address, so we can verify this in our system? We'll get this sorted out for you! Thanks guys. -Alfie
