Remember Mag Lev is about cool and fun. It's going to be just great.
Spare a thought for start up companies. Kickstarter is a way of raising capital. Too much growth too quickly creates cashflow & resource issues. These guys are doing a great job.
While Pono is a fantastic product those that 'invested' by giving money via Crowdfunder and lost it all may have a different view.
I drove my friend's Tesla the other week. Read the reviews - Crap company, delays in production, not meeting deadlines etc etc. Nice drive though. In fact awesome drive. The product is brilliant. It's not about he journey.
Just saying...
That 'review' is not What Hi Fi or Absolute Sound - just some random local jocks who probably set it to fail to improve their ratings. It is not in MagLev's interest to have a substandard product. Fake news?
There are 3 options:1. Wait and see.
2. Put it straight on e-bay - probably double your money.
3. Set it up but do not connect to sound system. Play the Pono while it is spinning - Music as art. When your guests ask just say ' Norwegian wood - isn't it good !'
Because it has taken so long everyone is a bit trigger happy.
I hope this helps.
Cheers & best wishes.
I just bought Jack White Acoustic from HD Tracks - Great album & great to connect with the next generation. I use HOLA VPN to access site. It wouldn't accept my credit card as from NZ, but when I used PayPal no problem.
Just waiting for the FBI to call...

We should no one way or another this month.
I ordered a pair of the new Magico A3 speakers, three months ago. They just started shipping them out. My pair were shipped from California two days ago. I should receive them by end of next week. I talked to Peter McKay of Magico, and he said I get first pair in Canada. Siltech
It sure is a long wait for this MagLev.
My son delights in telling me 'It's not coming dad - they've got the turntable to turn - they just can't make it levitate!'
One day....One day...
Long Live The Lev Siltech
No MagLev survey for me. For some reason Indiegogo does not recognize me as a backer (which is why I can't post) so I e-mailed them and sure enough I was not on the list. I added my order number & Paypal number with address details & they assure me I'm back on.
More delays.
It is worth waiting for the testing to reveal any flaws - as has happened with the feet.
It could be the dream job - a MagLev Tester.
After 8 hours in a sound room- My verdict - I think we need some more Jimi....
Hang in there & cheers.
I ordered the black/gold. You should get your survey very soon. Long Live Mag Lev. SILTECH
I'm keen to do the Pono challenge.
Will a 50yr old Beatles album sound better than a 44/16 Flac on Pono from a post 2007 remastered CD?
There are no Hi Res Beatles available & the remasters were poor so we shall see.
I've been collecting some rare gems over the last year so it will be great to finally give them a spin.
There's something about sitting in a room & listening to real music.
It all started to go downhill when it became portable.
If you get a chance to see Roger Waters latest show it is a must see. Our 10,000 seater stadium was divided down the middle by a huge screen & we got a 180 degree video light show. Flying pig, huge laser prism.
As they used to say in the 60's Real trippy man.
My Indiegogo survey came in today. GET YOUR VINYL READY
I drove my friend's Tesla model S the other day. Great power but the sound system with Spotify very underwhelming. Super flat. I will have to do the Pono Challenge next trip.
Cheers
Check out : http://www.therealinsta.com/user/6212054983 . The only image I could find of the placement of the rear cables.
I'm using their sizes L 510mm x W 400mm X H 230mm
Rear slot LHS . Start 30mm, then 750mm high x 120mm long.
Side - For hands - I'm using centred 25mm high x 150mm long - not critical.
I did a life size cutout and tried to get the proportions from the photos. I accounted for the cover missing the cables on both sides with the extra size.
I hope I'm right !
We have a plastic manufacturer about 10km from us. I have used them before. They do custom shop displays etc so no problem.
We have to pay taxes & customs duty on imported goods so it is better to save that for the things that matter.
Cheers
I'm Indiegogo and have not received a survey yet.
However, our delivery time was originally 2 month's behind Kickstarter. They may be able to push that forward a little but we will still be later.
I'm OK with that. It gives the first adopters a chance to have the turntable and notify of any glitches before we receive ours.
It looks like the dust cover is now $150 for kickstarters. It may not be us.
Hang in there...
Today, Mag Lev supporters received there surveys. Are you a supporter on Indiegogo, as I am. I didn't receive a survey from Mag Lev. I'm wondering, did you? Siltech
I didn't order the Magico S3Mkll. I ordered the Magico A3, which is being shipped end of March. I pre-ordered mine 2 months ago. Apparently, mine was 2nd pair in Canada ordered. The retail is $9800 USD. I got a feeling they'll be named Speaker of The Year, in there category. Siltech http://magico.net/Marketing/Press_Release_A3.php
Pono had a much greater critical mass so they could manufacture in China.
MagLev is all hand assembled.
The extra Pono's I bought 2 years later seemed to be from the same batch.
The real reason Pono was discontinued was that the size of another production run would've been prohibitive.
Worst scenario would be to send out faulty products.
Good things come .. etc
The MagLev is going to be a while.
Spare a thought for them - it's a small company and ultimately it is about the quality.
It's going to take 4 people some time to assemble over 1000 once all the pieces have arrived.
While I am waiting I have picked up the ukulele - I have yet to make the ' quantum leap to proficiency' as mentioned in Al Kooper's autobiography 'Back stage passes & back stabbing bastards ' a great read.
Cheers
I just bought a solid 4" thick maple platform by Mapleshade. I also bought a Symposium Ultra platform. I'm putting the 4" thick maple platform, through carpet on concrete using spikes. I'm then placing Symposium Ultra platform directly on maple platform. I'm then placing my Vitus SIA025 MKll on Symposium Ultra platform. Extra, extra component vibration control. SILTECH

Merry Christmas ALL LONG LIVE PONO MAG LEV TURNTABLE ?????
My head is still spinning from seeing Paul McCartney 2 days ago. What a concert! 40 songs over 3 hours. It was a baby boomers delight.
Plus I spotted Neil Finn at my local supermarket - maybe he is moving into the neighbourhood ( this is really how we spell it). Now that would be a street party!
I trying to get a little more resolution out of my speakers. I'm now buying the new Magico S3 MKII speakers. Chow man
Being optimistic is one thing, but I hope we really get one. Take Care. Siltech
It's a long wait for the MagLev. I'm expecting end of March at the earliest.
Do the math - I'm about #1000 so if they can make 25 per day from 20th Jan= 125 per week = 8 weeks plus delivery . 25 is an ambitious guess for a small company.
We are not little kid's waiting for Christmas so we just have to breathe in..
It's been a lot of fun checking out the vinyl stores & finding a few gems. They just need to be played.
