@Yuntak Jeong: Thanks! Sure we will indroduce Simpresso to Japan when we start mass production! We had emailed our KS project link to some importers and distributors in Japan, but didn't get any reply from them!
Thanks,

Dear Simposh team, I am sorry to hear about the results of this campaign, and will just like to state my support for your campaign should you choose to launch it again. Best regards
Simposh Inc.
@Jerry: thanks for the informations! Really give me a clear picture about Indiegogo. I understand those backers who don't want to move there!
We will make final decisions on Monday!
I think we will cancel the project later tonight!
If we confirm to relaunch in KS, not in Indiegogo, we will submit right after we cancelled it! We may set a lower pledge goal, and all backers here can make a pledge immediately, wish it can be successfully funded in first few days, and I can ask our production dept. to go ahead with mold making and try our best to keep the planned shipping schedule!
Thanks

@SD: thanks for your opinions and suggestions! I got your meaning, and I think our company will get that too. I will explain all comments to them during the meeting in Monday!
Thanks

@Simposh - I'm on board regardless where you relaunch. If your parent company can provide the necessary funds for you to lower your funding goal then it would make sense to relaunch on Kickstarter since there's no advantage to IGG. The way it works on IGG is funds are charged immediately and then held by IGG until the end of the campaign; the option to refund depends on the campaign type: 1) with both fixed and flexible goal campaigns refunds are issued upon backer request up until the campaign closes, 2) for fixed goal campaigns if the goal isn't met then all backers are automatically refunded, 3) for InDemand campaigns backers have 10 days to request a refund, 4) once IGG transfers funds to project creators (if the goal is met for fixed campaigns and regardless of the amount collected via flexible campaigns) then IGG does not process refunds and it takes it's cut; at that point the project creator has the money and is on their own - they are allowed to issue refunds but they are not required to do so (it's up to each project creator and their conscience). I hope this helps you decide. Feel free to verify. I do agree if you decide to lower your goal and relaunch on KS that it would instill confidence in your backers if you were able to show that your parent company has committed to fund as much as needed to deliver the rewards because no one wants to back a project where they know upfront there won't be sufficient funds to get the job done. I can tell you are a person of integrity so I know you would never do that.
SD
If you think you can make it with a flexible goal it means you can lower your next Kickstarter goal since you can back it up with your own investment. People will be more confident to back when they see it has passed 100% and is trending on Kickstarter. And yes, indiegogo charges us immediately and if im not mistaken we only have a 3 day time period if we want to cancel...something like that.
So to me it makes no sense to launch on indiegogo with a flexible goal. What is your flexible goal threshold? Use that or a smaller goal for your next Kickstarter. People like to see that a project is 200% or more funded but it's an illusion cos when you see the actual goal set it's actually really tiny and that's why its trending as 200% funded! But it gives people confidence to back.
You've got 400 over backers and that's a lot but on the main Kickstarter project list you don't look successful enough cos it only shows 50% funded.
Im not sure if I've explained myself clearly but i hope you are able to get what i mean.
Simposh Inc.
@feeljfryin: That's something we don't like! Ok, I will check with our team again!
Thanks
JC@Simposh
feeljfryin
@ Simposh, in my experience, they charge backers immediately regardless of campaign type. The campaign type may dictate when those funds are given to creators though.
Simposh Inc.
@Daugulas: oh, we didn't know it's charged immediately when you make a pledge! This is the issue which I need to discuss and check with Indiegogo? Is it happen only for backing a "InDemand" projects? Charged immediately is not fair to backers! Molding costs is more than $50K, Simpresso has lots of parts to make the high engineering performance! Simposh Inc will pay rest of the money we need, and maybe invest more $ to apply some coffee trade shows around the world! We have a strong back up from our kitchenware business!
I am confident to get more supports from company at 10K or more! Thanks
JC
Douglas McLean
I am not a fan of Indiegogo, because payment is made to the project immediately irrespective of whether the necessary goal has been met to make the project doable. As a result, in my opinion, too many projects get money that is not enough and they fail and backers get nothing. My question to you is what is the minimum amount of funds that would enable you to manufacture Simpresso?
Simposh Inc.
@Eakachai: everything will be same in the relaunch! We are thinking to be launched in KS again or Indiegogo, but Indiegogo give us a better offer. Will keep everyone updates on that!
Thanks,
JC
Simposh Inc.
@lifecycled: Thanks! This cannot be done shortly, I will pass these suggestions to our R & D team. @SD: sorry that we didn't know the "flexible goal" will give backers a bad feeling! We think it give us a chance when it's not 100%. A similar question had been raised by another backer in the updates! $50K can cover part of molding costs only, our company will invest rest of $ we need. We have a kitchenwares line selling in US, it can back up the $ we need for new product line. If we only get $30000 in relaunch, we can discuss with our CEO and ask for bigger $ plan to make the product go mass production.
We will not downgrade the quality and materials because of less $. We will keep the high quality, we plan to extend the coffee products line like our kitchenware.
We didn't confirm where should we relaunch, but Indiegogo can help us to promote the project. Thanks
JC
Eakachai Varongsinghara
When you switch to Indiegogo, will I get the same perk (Pledge) ?
For example, I want to pay for the VIP reward as same as I pay here.
SD
If you have a flexible goal and only achieve half your goal on Indiegogo, would that be enough money to manufacture the product? If yes, then why is the Kickstarter goal 50k if with Indiegogo you can go ahead even if you dont collect the full amount?
Unfortunately i wont follow on Indiegogo because I dont like the concept of 'flexible goal'. Money will be collected whether or not the goal is met but the money that is raised may not be enough to cover the costs n ultimately the product many not get made. Too much of a risk for me.
lifecycled
Hi eco friendly should be a design criteria... Great to know you think that way. Remember by offering rechargeable power sources the user has control over energy sources. Solar or other green power can be used on charge.
Simposh Inc.
@Daniel: Thanks! We may do that, our team is checking with Indiegogo team. Only 3 days left, but we didn't give up this Kickstarter campaign, we are reaching different potential distributors/partners from worldwide and offer exclusive rights on some countries/markets to them if they can purchase a larger qty.!
Thanks,
JC@Simposh
Daniel Chang
If you do move to indiegogo, I'll definitely back you (assuming it's the same cost). And I'm really hoping for that stainless steel filter (fingers crossed)!
Simposh Inc.
@lifecycled: Thanks! Got your information by message! We really had thought of adding a boiler in future version, charged by USB cable. This cannot be done shortly, because our team is strong at mechanical engineering, electric products are not our professional, and we want to brand Simpresso as Eco-friendly product, non-electrical products like our kitchenware line. We think people who always out for camping, surfing or hiking, eco-friendly products will be their first choice!
Sure we will keep on think to add boiler! Thanks for your suggestions!
Thanks,
JC
lifecycled
Sent you a message on the AU POD business. Some more ideas... You've seen tehe successful nowpresso Kickstarter campaign. An overlapping product. Could you look into an optional 12v DC boiler to heat thee water? This would increase use ability. It might be possible to have the boiler a screw on accessory that can be. Sold with or with out? Your edge might be more cups per battery as it does not pressurise on heat or at least an edge on simplicity as it can be used without the optional boiler.... Make the battery an external USB charger as well.
Simposh Inc.
@Lukas: Full set (included 1pcs reusable capsule and plastic scoop) is around 368g (0.81 Lb), without plastic scoop is around 346g (0.76 Lb).
Thanks,
JC@Simposh
Lukas
What's the weight of Simpresso?
Simposh Inc.
@lifecycled: the pledge goal just can covered some of the tooling costs, I can say part of tooling cost, the cost of first order and shipping will be invested by Simposh. We are selling kitchenware, coffee line is new to us, we don't have any business networks on it. It will be great if you have information about the AU market, please message to me! Thanks!
We had reached some distributors (US, EU, Japan and AU) we searched on internet, most of them need samples for their evaluations. We understand it's hard to make decisions without a real testing sample. Thanks,
JC
lifecycled
You no your minimum numbers for it to make sense to manufacture based on tooling costs. If you relaunch take your time ... Build up a backer base that looks closer to the numbers you needed. For me emphasise the reusable credentials.... Talk with the POD / Roaster supplier in Australia that supplies 80% of the Australian market and is going global. They just got an investment deal with a major global distributer. I can help you track them down if this is not enough information.
Simposh Inc.
@lifecycled @Edgar: should be hard to meet the pledge goal in 5 days. What do you think if we launch at indiegogo? They will help us to promote and they have an option of “flexible goal”.
We are good on making high quality products, but we are new on promoting the idea to worldwide. We had paid to fiverr freelancers, gadget flow and kickbooster for social media promoting, only got total 7500 views... Maybe KS campaigns will be funded only when it take over by PR company who take 35% of funding.
US and EU distributors are interested, but they concern about our delivery schedule is too late, we missed the buying season on Nov and Dec, thats why the business packs didn’t work.
Thanks,
JC@Simposh
Edgar
+1 on the relaunch. I like the idea and was looking forward to it.
lifecycled
Only 5 days to go... I hope you relaunch if we do not make it over the line!
Simposh Inc.
@Jerry-thanks for your supports since our 1st launch! Some of the design modifications were based on your suggestions! We do think Simpresso will be one of the best one, it’s simple, easy to use!
Thanks,
JC@Simposh
Jerry
@Simposh - Simpresso looks great! I just pledged. I hope things pick up because the simplicity and versatility of Simpresso are something a lot of people would really like to have. Thanks!
Simposh Inc.
@Yuntak, thanks for backing us! We had featured on gadgetflow and kickbooster, wish they can help! On the other hand, we are working hard to approach some EU, Japan and Australia importers, may help to give our campaign a pump on the pledges. Please keep sharing Simpresso with friends and family!
Thanks,
JC@Simposh
Yuntak Jeong
I want this!!!
Simposh Inc.
@Patrick: yes, simpresso is a very nice product, it will be the best hand-operated espresso machine in the market. We are working with the gadgetflow team now, wish they can help to bring more pledges later. Our kitchenware product had been featured on INSIDER with 800K views on video, wish that could draw some attentions to our website, and have a look of the Simpresso video there! Still have 20 days to go, we didn't have a internal meeting to discuss the next plan. All of us are working hard on the campaign! Will keep you update later this month!
Thanks
JC@Simposh
Patrick Kaufmann
If you don't find enough founfers here on Kickstarter, do you plan to realize your product on an other way? I really like the product and would be happy to get one Simpresso...
Simposh Inc.
@Daniel: We may develop "Smart Capsule" in stainless steel for future purchase! The plastic materials that we use for Smart Capsule is PCTG, it's durable, high quality and BPA safe materials, and plastic can make different colors options for 4pcs spare smart capsules set in future. Can buy more spare "Smart Capsules" for travels or for family!
Thanks,
JC@Simposh
Daniel Chang
Are there any plans to make the smart cup stainless steel instead of the food safety plastic?
Simposh Inc.
@Something: simpresso takes around 55-60sec to make a cup of lungo (110ml), pull/press the handle around 27-30 times. 25-30 sec to make espresso (40ml), pull/press the handle around 10-12 times. I will ask our team to make videos to show it.
Thanks,
JC@Simposh
Something
I dd not see this info but how long you need to push n pull the handle to get a lungo? Well if you have those stat for the other format too.
Simposh Inc.
@Lois: it’s a interesting concept to have different adapters for different brands. We think that project lead time will be longer than they expected. Materials and size of capsules are different from 4 brands, different methods to pin or open the capsules... Must make sure the extracted espresso is good quality with different capsules set up... Like someone tell you to design a car which can be a supper car on weekdays, a family SUV on weekend, it’s hard to make it good for all.
Its better to keep Simpresso as “simple to make espresso”, extract good quality espresso with both Nespresso and Smart capsules.
If Simposh’s new coffee product line has a great start, we will design and launch more coffee related products, maybe “simple to grind”, “simple ice drip”, must be simple to use our producrs. Thanks
JC@Simposh
Lois
About the capsule compatibility, there's this interesting project.
It looks like evolution of the Cafflano classic for other brewing methods, and looks prettier.
Their espresso module is designed to be adaptable to many capsule system. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fuseco/porta-ristatm-by-fuse-personalise-your-own-coffee/description Albeit, seeing the progress, seems like they'll fail the crowdfunding.
Probably too expensive, and took too long (optimistic expectation January 2019).
Simposh Inc.
@Sophie, those reusable capsules from other brands cannot be worked with Simpresso, it will damage Simpresso because our pistol design and the capsule holder is different from Nespresso machine. Only our "Smart Reusable Capsule" can be worked with Simpresso.
Yes, you can pour iced water into the water tank to make coffee with iced water, but if you are looking for a cold brew coffee with less bitter, that is a different method. Thanks,
JC@Simposh
Sophie
Hi creator
Thanks for fast answer :-) 2 new questions: can you confirm reusable capsules designed as Waycap Ez (KS recent project) will work in the Simpresso without being damaged or damage Simpresso? Also, can Simpresso do cold brew coffee? Thanks you :-)
Simposh Inc.
@Leung kai Ho Billy, thanks for backing our campaign! We will suggest fine or medium fine grinds, not extra fine.
The coffee grind needs to be fine enough to increase the pressure, if the grind is too coarse, the water will go through without extraction due to the low pressure and the space between the grinds.
Extra fine grinds may block the holes of the etched stainless steel filter, we are not recommended. Thanks,
JC@Simposh
Leung Kai Ho Billy
What is the ideal grind for the "smart capsule"?
Simposh Inc.
@Sophie, thanks for backing our campaign! That meant our VIP and Kickstarter price are not included shipping cost, but when you click to pledge our rewards, it will add the shipping cost based on the delivery countries! The shipping costs are charged, confirmed we will not charge you extra shipping cost afterward! Please be noted the charges are not included VAT or other applicable country taxes. Pledgers are responsible for any and all import fees, VAT, duties, taxes, post office fees, and or any other fees their country or government imposes. Thanks,
JC@Simposh
Sophie
Hi creator
Welcome back :-) hope everything will go smoothly!
I noticed in the project description "shipping cost is not included in our prices" but when I pledged I was charged for shipping costs with relevant country selection - additionally to the listed price. Do you confirm you will not charge us some more costs after the end of the project ?
