Discovered on 2017-12-06

Use a single light for any situation with the PAL Portable Modular Multi-Use Light. This rugged and powerful light pairs with accessories to offer illumination whenever you need it. When you pair PAL with its accessories, it becomes a flashlight, headlamp, lantern, bike light and a task light. Furthermore, each of the fixtures enhances its performance. For example, the flashlight handle doubles the battery life. Additionally, the modular connection makes it easy to operate with one hand, giving you the ability to customize your lighting instantly. Likewise, PAL features a mechanical, electrical and magnetic connection to ensure that it securely and smoothly attaches to its accessories. In addition, PAL delivers up to 15 hours of continuous light. It also features flood and spot modes, an intuitive four-button interface and three brightness settings. Finally, PAL is shock and water resistant, making it ideal for outdoor adventuring.

@Tony Luu - YES! We just sent out an update to all of our backers! Good things are happening and we are making solid progress!

@Stan Faryna - Once we come to market, PAL will be available for single-unit purchase - we know that having more than one light is critical, so we will have the individual units available for sale. Also, PAL currently has two built-in rechargeable 18350 lithium ion batteries.

Will PALs be available as single unit purchases?
Will PALs be available with rechargeable batteries in the future?

OK thank you very much.

@Daniel - Thanks for supporting our campaign! The rechargeable batteries are non-replaceable. The lithium ion batteries are fully enclosed inside PAL.

Are the batteries user replaceable?

@Adam Solo - Yes! PAL has two rechargeable 18350 lithium ion batteries that are included. The Flashlight handle also includes a rechargeable 18650 lithium ion battery for extended runtime/recharging of PAL (or your personal electronic devices on the go)! Thanks for the support!

Are the batteries built-in and included?

Love the concept but I’m gonna opt out if the shippingcosts don’t lower drastically.

@Michael Malone - Thanks for the note and the support. We like the way you think! This is actually a feature that we have considered! We want users to have the ultimate access to reliable lighting, so we are working with our firmware engineers to optimize PALs functionality when paired with the Wall Charger. Keep the good ideas coming!

A possible future feature? When plugged into the wall and the power goes out, the PAL should light up to make it easy to find.

@Anders Oster - Thanks for the suggestion and the support! We love to hear from our community! We debated this issue for a long time (with a lot of different users). There have been many good arguments made for both versions. Good news though! We do have a 3-strap version of the headlamp strap accessory in the pipeline. That's the beauty of our modular connection - PAL can attach/detach to a growing number of accessories to meet the needs of our users. Thanks again!

This type of headlamp strap would be better : https://www.rei.com/media/product/124323
I'd want to be able to wear the headlamp over a bicycle helmet.

@Debra - Thanks for reaching out - and for the kind words and support! We are putting together an infographic which will explain all of your questions (and more) in greater detail. In the meantime, here are answers to most of your questions. Hope this helps! :) - 5hrs run time on High (350 lumens). PAL will recharge in roughly an hour on the Wall Charger. If you attach PAL to the Flashlight accessory, you will have immediate access to light - there is no down time for charging. The Flashlight accessory has a built in 18650 lithium ion battery (~3000 mAh), which can fully recharge your iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus or iPhone 8 (and then some).

Cool concept. I have some questions:
You note that the charge can provide up to 15h of light. How long on the highest setting?
How long does it take to fully charge via the wall charger?
If you attach a drained PAL to a fully charged flashlight accessory, will it function immediately or will it need some time to charge?
How much does the flashlight accessory weigh?
What is the battery size in the flashlight? Would it fully charge an iPhone?

@Stan Faryna - This is a great idea for a feature, thanks for sharing! Yes, there is a waterproof micro-USB port on the body of PAL (light unit) - allowing you to charge your device on the go via power bank, solar charger, etc. To clarify, there are three main ways to charge PAL:
1) via the Wall Charger accessory
2) via the micro-USB located on PAL
3) via the Flashlight accessory (this is a proprietary feature that we call "power coupling", which allows the PAL to harness/store power provided by the battery located in the Flashlight accessory.) Thanks for the feedback. Hope this helps!

Interesting design concept. Another stretch goal could be a 5 minute 1000 lumens safety mode as an upgrade. That would put it in the gift giving category for me. Is there a USB port on the body of the light unit?

@Christopher Mc Verry - Thanks so much for the support and for the kind words. We decided to include the bike mount into the Everything Pack to keep the reward packages clean and easy. If we are wildly successful with our original goal (which we hope is the case), we will consider releasing the Lantern accessory as a Stretch Goal. We know it is a very synergistic accessory, and we will be releasing as soon as possible. We have done a lot of homework with various logistics companies, and while we agree that postage is a little high for certain countries, we do believe it to be accurate based on the packaging size and weight. Please let us know if you have any other questions/feedback! Cheers!

Postage seems a little expensive too at $60 to Australia.

Hi i like it. The only issue is I would of liked a camping/treking set without the bike attachment. Also regarding the still to come attachment for the lantern attachment when will that be available? & are you doing pre orders?
