Firefighter Belt Quick Release Belt

Editor's Rating
4.9?
Discovered on 2017-10-13

Be ready for anything and everything when you wear The Firefighter Belt Quick Release Belt by Victory Leathercraft. Although this belt appears traditional, it’s got a secret. The innovative and cool-looking buckle is a faithful recreation of a 19th-century fire brigade original. Cast in solid brass by an English foundry, the buckle of the Firefighter Belt has a quick release mechanism. The bottom and side of the buckle both have hinges. Staying securely fastened in use, a little pressure from your finger and the buckle instantly releases the belt. The Firefighter Belt can also be fastened and unfastened in the traditional way. However, the quick release option is for sure the quickest (and most fun). In addition to innovative functionality, the Firefighter Belt boasts some serious style. The beautiful full-grain English bridle leather comes in three rich colors. Artisan-made by skilled leather craftsmen in England, the buckle is available in natural brass or with a nickel plated finish.

Pete,
Just received my belt today and am very pleased with it.
The cross hatching on the buckle where the finger presses is a nice touch showing the thought and care that went into this project. You think of everything, not just the obvious.

Hi @Dirk Many thanks for your comments which I hope to be able to answer below. Regarding the edging.... Most belt makers do one of two things - they either take the quick and therefore cheap way out & leave the edges raw & untreated or they use a rubbery edge-coating that looks okay at first but eventually cracks & starts to peel off.
I prefer to bevel the edges by hand and then use a permanent leather dye on them. With full-grain bridle leather such as this, the upper layer is very dense & smooth when viewed side-on but lower down in the hide it becomes more fibrous.
This means that when dyeing the edge, there will be some low spots in the fibrous areas that are tough to reach.
These are usually barely-noticeable and will disappear over time but if you really want to touch them up all you need to use is a Sharpie as they contain non-staining (when dry) permanent ink. Regarding the areas you thought might be lacking in stain.... This leather is impregnated at the tannery with multiple applications of a mixture of oils & waxes.
When I receive the hides, some of the waxes have usually migrated to the surface, giving it a whitish coating that I buff off.
This migration can happen again though & I'm 100% sure this is what you're seeing.
If you rub vigorously with a cloth so that the friction produces a little warmth you should see the effect disappear. I hope that helps Dirk. Please let me know how you get on. Pete

Received my belt today from Canada.
It's a cool looking belt and the leather is thick but not too stiff, has nice leather smell.

You wanted some suggestion for future projects. I suggest belts made to celebrate special occasions. E. G. Canada's 150th. The Queen's 90th, etc. I would assume many people would want something unique like that. You could have a special cast buckle, special leather loop, or even a classic design on the belt.
Greetings Dirk

Hello Pete: My belt arrived today! The Firefighter buckle is really cool and works great. I love the thickness and quality of your belts. Best belts from anywhere in the world... and I have looked.
Just a question about the edging of the belt. On mine (black) the edging has not been fully coated/stained and some of the beige shows through. In some places the belt facing seems to be lacking in stain. What shall I do?
Not a big issue because your belts are so well made.
Please let me know.
Thanks
Dirk
and a very Merry Christmas to you!

Hi Pete This has to be an exemplary KS campaign that can serve as a benchmark for all others to follow. The belts are top quality. Solid buckles, and exceptional leather. Looks and feel, without doubt, like a product to last a lifetime and KS pricing is makes it such value for money. Look forward to your next project/campaign. Happy Christmas to one and all.

@John - wow, that was fast!
I'm glad you like it. Whilst I'm here - I want to say that the final packages left today. These were all UK & US ones. Long-haul and European backers' rewards were sent earlier this week.
US packages are with Fedex as I have a great deal with them price-wise & they're much, much faster than using the postal service.

Hi Peter/other pledgers With regards to add-ons, it’s rather simple. Take whatever pledge, say the £75, then add whatever extra that you may offer, like the previous belt at £60, which means adjusting the value to £135 plus shipping, if any, that is done automatically. During survey, put additional comment about add-ons or in-built into your Backerkit survey for supporters to pay additional. Having said that, are you offering your awesome belts from previous KS?
