Editor's Rating
4.8?
Discovered on 2017-11-28

Revolutionize the way you sit with the BackStrong Sit-In-Motion Technology Ergonomic Chair. Aside from being a comfortable chair, BackStrong actually corrects how you sit using Sit-In-Motion Technology. The patented technology offers a unique seat design with ergonomic features. By automatically aligning itself with you, you receive better back support and stress relief. Likewise, it cradles your lower back, relieving vital pressure points and instantly improving your posture. The freely rotating bucket design immediately adjusts to any position you sit in. In addition, the saddle hugs your pelvis and fits your physiology. This feature offers natural support by putting the natural S curve in your spine. Similarly, the back provides a supported sitting position, so you always maintain the correct posture. Furthermore, the saddle hangs from the arm of the chair and moves with you. Finally, BackStrong even assists you with a supportive push when you get up.

Need a little info regarding the StrongBack chair. PM-ed Dr. Dennis. Please and thanks.

Do we have to do anything to take advantage of the faux leather upgrade or is it an automatic change?

By the way, I already saw the video and the picture of the product from the updates section, but I want something more informal video of someone seating on the chair and move around with it.

So, should I expect to get this by August or September? The chair better be nice since you guys delayed so much. Also, would you be able to post the manual in pdf file, and the real image(or video) of the chair once it is assembled? Thank you.

Hello! Thanks for the latest update. I understand it takes time to get things right. If we are interested in purchasing a second chair (you mentioned at a discount), will we be able to do so in the Survey? Or how can we do that?

The last update was on May 12 so it is now just over 3 weeks with no further updates. 🧐 No timelines, no surveys, no chair. 😔

I will be moving within the next month or two to a new address (having expected this chair to have been delivered in March..). How can I change the shipping address?

Guys, can you PLEASE read previous comments/updates before getting in a mardy... BackStrong have responded to 90% of the Q&A comments, which is more than you'll get from 99% of KickStarters! Compared to other projects I've backed (*cough cough* Ossic X), their monthly correspondence is more than enough to give me confidence in their deliverability!

Just my $0.02 -- even if there isn't a full update to share, at least pop in every week or 2 to say "no updates, everything's running smoothly, still on track for shipping in September!" or something along those lines.

I thought we were getting the chair in February...and now it's going to be September??? Is there any way to cancel the order???

Hi guys -we are pushing hard and the design is locked for the recent questions below: Surveys have NOT come out yet. We will get them going as soon as we can. As far as getting another chair at a discount in the future, we will absolutely make this available to our backers.

I agree David and believe this is the case. Seemed to me they made one big adjustment and caused unforseen consequences. Honestly if there were more world manufacturer's that did equipment making like this it wouldn't be such a gap in time. The impression I've gotten is that there aren't that many that specializes in office chairs and the ones they went with have tight schedules. And seemingly not very easy to communicate with..

I think at this point you have to push to get your first generation chairs out.
Any improvements should be saved for model 2.0 or 3.0 etc. People get lost in the idea to better a product to a degree and it could result in endless updates and an eventual bankruptcy.

Hello, I didnt recieved a survey to choose the color of the chair until now. Is this correct? Thanks

I apologize if this has already been asked but will Kickstarter backers be able to order an additional chair at a discount in the future? I expect to need 1 more later this year but I'm not exactly sure when yet. Second question, is there a guest chair you recommend that would complement the BackStrong Chair? Something that would somewhat match the color/style. Thanks.

Good info in the video. What?... NO cupholders? I'm kinda kidding... OR am I? They look sexy... the CHAIRS, that is. The soul is all in those details, be proud of them. Cheers!

Hi Philip & Jason, I just read back through the past updates and noticed that the updated estimated shipping date is mid-August. Taking this into account and that the team seem to be hard-pressed keeping everything moving forward, I am accepting the fact that they would rather us not bother them with feedback about keeping the community excited about the progress and am going to disappear until towards August.
I would of liked to have shared the journey with them, however will have to hold off the excitement until closer to August. Good luck BackStrong team! I believe in you and am looking forward to seeing the fruits of your hard labour in August.

Interesting comment thread. It funny that I was coming to this site to inquire why there had been no updates for almost 2 months only to find that others had the same questions. At this point, I felt that the project had been abandoned. Good to see (it appears) that the project is still ongoing. I must agree with Andrew and Jason. At the least, 1 (one) update a month should not be too hard to produce and should be the minimum that the backers should expect. Thank you for listening to us.

Review from Kickstarter
Jason you said it better than I could ever! BackStrong, please don't read what we are saying as criticism, rather feedback. We LOVE this project, that is why we backed it. We also understand the desire to get it right, while keeping to promised deadlines. When we finally sit in the chairs and feel the difference, it will make it all worthwhile.
What we are asking is that you don't go through the journey on your own, with us on the sidelines patiently waiting. We actually want to hear the story behind the process. As Jason said, if you set a schedule of sending an update each week, you will probably find that you will be answering less comments and receiving more encouragement. The updates don't even have to be videos if they are quick updates, just a summary of what has happened in the last week and what you are excited about is perfect.
Please don't be like the people frustrating you with no communication, and help us build a community that are even more proud of the chair because we went through the journey with you.

By the way - we know exactly how you feel - we are promised updates as well - but for one reason or another - with final details being tweaked - as we want them to be perfect - its costs us time. Please know we have been working very hard to move forward - and we are.

Hi Jason - we are putting together an update as we speak. We will be posting a video to tell you exactly whats been happening. Our motto has been "not till its perfect". We are just about there - with a lot of blood sweat and tears along the way! Please stay tuned and thank you for your patience. We are on track - but we want to make sure what we formally announce for timing is legit to maintain trust.

I absolutely agree with Andrew but also understand your desire to want to be as accurate with details as you can be. That said, reading that an update is coming "VERY shortly" or "as soon as possible" raises expectations for a relatively small timeframe. When there is no followup until a backer prompts for one, coupled with a series of missed deadlines, begins to erode the very things that backers get involved for. As Andrew stated, we want to share in the journey of what brought this product to life so that we can enjoy it that much more. I would advise that even a weekly two sentence update with whatever detail you feel comfortable providing (similar to Andrew's example) would keep your backers engaged, informed and most importantly, at ease with the process and timelines however they may shift.

Thank you, I appreciate you taking on my feedback and responding with details about the changes for tooling. It makes sense that you need to make slight adjustments to fit the manufacturing process. I look forward to hearing how it goes ;-)

Review from Kickstarter
Hi Andrew - we have had a rush of minor changes as we start the tooling process and we are quite literally awaiting new and updates from the factory that are concrete enough for us to share and set expectations properly. Please note there is no reason to assume we are off track from our last projections - however we really want to be correct when we formally update, with detail. Our goal was to provide a detailed update last Friday latest - and we are here tonight waiting again given these tweaks that we change on our end in a CAD, then the engineers review and confirm - and tweak - at the factory - until they are all 100% right. Please stay tuned, believe us, we are itching to update more than you know and get focused on shipping. Thank you for your patience!

Review from Kickstarter
There seems to be a lot of talk about updates coming "soon" and "shortly" - what does this mean?
Are you scheduling an update at the end of the week? End of the month? Sometime next month? The reasons for not getting in before CNY were well articulated and completely understandable. What is not clear is what is happening now. Things happen with new ventures and timelines need to be adjusted, it is a part of the kickstarter process. Not being informed with what is going on makes it difficult to remain passionate about such a worthwhile project. We care and want to be a part of the journey with you, that is why we invested (or at least that is why I invested). By giving us more details we can experience the journey with you, instead of waiting for a result on the side-line. When specifically will there be an update? Even if the update is "have called the manufacturer 4 times and not got a response".

Hi all - we will be pushing out an update VERY shortly! We have had back and forth with the factory all week confirming specs and final changes to get the tooling locked. Kristal - to answer your questions, we will be communicating with everyone one to confirm addresses and shipping. We will have a limited warranty on the chairs too.

Since it's being pushed out much past original date. It happens. Will you verify the address to make sure someone has not moved? Also do you stand by the product? If something is wrong with it is there. Warranty?

Hi, it’s been 9 weeks since the Feb update that said the surveys would be pushed out in 4–6 weeks. I realize you guys have been finalizing some stuff so I’m not pressuring, just trying to keep an eye out for the email around the right time. What’s the new timeline on the surveys?

Hi All - we are working on getting an update shortly - we are presently working to confirm the tooling of one specific part that we want to make sure is safe (and will not pinch fingers) . We will be on a call with China tonight to (hopefully) confirm the plan that will allow us to confirm our pending dates and start the roll to get surveys out and delivery dates locked. We are still very much in the same window of time as suggested in prior updates. We will advise as soon as possible!

@backstrong Thanks for the update! I'm happy to wait a little while longer to get a better product. The alternative would be knowingly shipping something a bit inferior and therefore creating a newer version with updates that I would definitely want to have had included with the original. I can think of quite a few big name companies that go that route and I am very happy that you aren't following their path. Thanks again for the update!

My job just told us that we are all moving to home based agents.. so no more used herman Miller chairs for me.. and I have a broken office chair so gonna have to buy a get by chair until I get these delievered.. glad to see talking about the technical side of the why and seeing the actual chair.. That being said.. I bought 2 chairs.. ,I feel like you guys think the protype that you guys already made is actually up to snuff just not as comfy... is there anyway I could either buy one of your "finished" test chairs that celebrities tried out or give up one of my chairs for one of them? I really don't want to go to Office Depot lol.
