Astro Smart Foldable Ukulele

Bring your music passion anywhere with the Astro Smart Foldable Ukulele. Astro is a foldable and collapsible ukulele that comes with unique features and shapes. Thanks to its compact size, Astro comfortably fits into your bag or backpack. In fact, it’s small enough to fit inside your jacket pocket. Plus, it won’t weigh you down due to its light weight. It uses a patented mechanism that connects the neck rotation to the floating bridge, allowing you to fold the ukulele. In fact, you don’t even need to release or remove the strings to do so. After folding it, you can keep Astro on a desk using its apposite support. Additionally, Astro offers a reduced acoustic power, making it suitable for playing during your daily commute without disturbing others. Astro comes in both an acoustic and electric version.

Auguri!
Não dá para acreditar que não seja funded. É um produto espectacular!
Pena que só o tenha descoberto agora mesmo. Vou passar a palavra a amigos meus. Pode ser que ajude.

Thank you very much to all of you for the support!
Hi keinan, thank you first of all!
Due to its compact size, its power cannot be compared to an acoustic guitar, it is suitable for practise and play in quiet locations; the amplification via headphones or speaker is needed to enjoy at full the execution, also in loud situations. Best regards

Such a great execution for a compact and foldable ukulele design..!

First of all, I love this idea, and I'm all in... It looks like I'm the first backer to choose the two pack! Thanks to the creators for all the work they've put in to get it this far and for all the work they'll be doing to bring it to completion! I'm just confused on this one point... I've noticed a few mentions of plugging headphones directly into the E version... I was wondering how loud (or quiet) this ukulele is? I normally think of a ukulele as being loud enough that you don't need earphones unless you're in a band where everyone else is amplified, in which case, your earphones would typically be plugged into a monitor line rather that directly into the instrument. I guess I just don't see the practicality of plugging headphones directly into the instrument unless it's really quiet (like an electric bass). Would this be loud enough without amplification to keep up with three unamplified acoustic guitars and perhaps 10-30 people singing along?

I hope that this project will be funded.
However, the amount of contribution is in the middle of the goal.
If this campaign does not reach the goal, is there a second campaign for KS (including Astro E pro)?
Or are you planning to sell Astro on your website?

Hi team,
can a built in tuner be added to the ukele?

Hi team, stumbled upon this by accident - I don't play myself, but absolutely love this concept! If you haven't already done so, can I suggest you get in touch with the "Ukele Orchestra of Great Britain" - if you don't know them, they're a Ukele group which travels the world, playing everywhere from Sydney Opera house to the Albert Hall. If you could get them one and get them to maybe do a quick video or support in some way, they might be able to turbo-charge your campaign! Not sure of any other equivalent groups, but I've always loved seeing them live - and their reach is HUGE. 43,000 Facebook followed, 72,000 youtube subscribers, millions of youtube video views. If you can tap into that audience..... Good luck with it - I wish you every success!!! I may yet be tempted to take up a new instrument....

Hi Joux, yes we will add anchoring points for the strap.
Hi Ava, thank you for asking,we would like to produce our ukulele in ABS and WPC, that stands for Wood Plastic Composite. It is an innovative and very recent material in the injection moulding technique ; its physical properties are much more similar to wood than plastic, and so would be the sound.
We ran some test locally, the folding feature and the unique design were really appreciated, unfortunately these two prototypes do not reflect what the final instrument would sound like, we made our best to explain the concept of Astro with 3D printing and prototyping techniques.

This is really cool - looking forward to seeing more updates.
Backing Astro E but I have a few questions regarding sound: - Because everything about the instrument affects the sound from construction to material. How does the ABS/WPC material sound when compared to a regular ukulele? Would love to see you guys elaborate more on the material choice and build since this dictates the sound of the instrument and its acoustics.
- Did you conduct user testing with musicians/ukulele lovers? It might also be interesting to get user feedbacks on both the portable design and sound. Keep up the good work, I hope you reach your funding goal soon :)

As Astro is small, is it possible to add something in the model to connect a strap ?

No, the final ukulele components will be injection molded in WPC and ABS materials, we used the 3D printing only to develop these prototypes.

Hi Cheung, Astro E will be equipped with an internal Li-ion battery, chargeable via micro USB.

where does the internal amplifier of the Astro E get its power? Does it require batteries, or do you need to plug in an external power source?

Hi Ellie, yes you can edit your pledge up to the end of the campaign, I guess in your case you should delete the pledge as a guest and make a new one with your new profile. About the currency I don't know, maybe it depends on your location, or try to look in your profile preferences, thank you.

Would it be possible to change my order to the Astro E from the Astro A? If so could you let me know how to do this? I supported the project before I created my kickstarter account. Also, is there an option to pay in euros (or sterling) rather than dollars?
Cambrian Industries
Review from Kickstarter
Hi Ian, yes exactly, Astro E has a structure identical to Astro A, but it is equipped with a piezo pick up and an internal amplifier, that will allow you to plug your headphones directly to the ukulele.

So the E version is an acoustic one that also has an electric pick up? It’s not just electric?

Really hoping this picks up steam! As a person who regularly travels via plane a ukulele that doesn't take up a whole carry on spot would be so incredibly useful, keeping my fingers crossed!

Hi Dave, we were considering an upgrade kit, but there are some technical issues about the disassembly phase, that may cause damage to the instrument; So probably no

Can the A-version version be upgraded into the E-version (by adding the pickups) if I choose to do so sometime in the future? Will you offer an upgrade kit?
