How much does it weigh? Meaning the whole sleeve and all the adapters/cords/etc.?

what’s the weight & how long does it need to charge its own battery?

ARROE
@Nicholas Pires: Hi Nicolas, battery efficiency is about 80% for power banks so a 100wh battery would delivery about 80wh of actual power to your laptop when fully charged. If your laptop battery is 94wh you should get it to around 85% if it is the only device charging from the battery.
Nicholas Pires
I have a Great Aero 15 laptop that has a 94W battery in it. Will the new battery capacity will of the LAER be able to accommodate it?
ARROE
@Nicholas Pires: Hi Nicholas, We can't give you a firm answer on this right now because our priority is allowing heat to dissipate while the product is charging. We will keep you updated on product development and confirm as a soon as possible.
Nicholas Pires
Congrats on getting funded. With the water protection will you address the concern I highlighted in my previous comment. Thanks
ARROE
@Ben: Hi Ben, not yet. We still have a lot of testing to do for different devices and we are working on materials that allow for heat dissipation but this area is a big focus for us and we will be getting all of the certifications for power banks before shipping anything.
Ben
Hey I found that my Samsung phone gets quite hot when I use the Qi charger. While it resolves itself now, I am curious if you have tested against heat dispersal when the phone is in the pocket?
Nicholas Pires
The seams if the bag and the gaps of the flap opening would have to be secured in a way not to let water enter in addition to the repellant coating
ARROE
@Lewis Liu: Hi Lewis, we can treat the outer fabric to be water resistant yes.
Lewis Liu
Is the sleeve waterproof? Would be pretty nervous carrying sensitive electronics and a battery in the rain without any water resistance.
Justin Yeo
Great news! Now you can fully concentrate on it!
ARROE
@Justin Yeo: It's all sorted now, we are going ahead!
ARROE
@VHo: It's all sorted now, we are going ahead!
ARROE
@Tony Herrero: It's all sorted now, we are going ahead!
ARROE
@Tony Herrero: Hi Tony, did you see the last update titled "Campaign"?
Tony Herrero
Have i missed something? why would project get suspended?
ARROE
@VHo: Thank you VHo. If you sign up on our website www.arroe.co we will be able to update you with next steps if the campaign is suspended.
VHo
If kickstarter doesn't allow you to continue, let me know how I can support.
ARROE
@Justin Yeo: Thank you Justin. We really appreciate your support!
Justin Yeo
Me too. Hope for the best! You have my backing!
ARROE
@Justin Yeo: We really hope so. We are just waiting for Kickstarter to get back to us.
Justin Yeo
So is the project given the green light? Cause only 6 more days to end of campaign.
ARROE
@Brian Willis: Hi Brian, we created 8 sizes so that we could accommodate most laptops and our thickest one accommodates a 3cm thick laptop. We set the sizes based on a survey of the most common laptops being used but if we find that a lot of our backers want a thicker case we can add one. Thanks, ARROE Team
ARROE
@Nicholas Pires: Great!
Brian Willis
Please make the laptop sleeve thicker to allow older laptops.
Nicholas Pires
Liking the new upgraded battery sizes much more functional compared to the original offerings.
ARROE
@BGCrazy: It's added automatically thanks
BGCrazy
Am I supposed to add shipping fee?
Lawrence Lee
@Arroe: Thank you. =)
ARROE
@Lawrence Lee: It's £50 for an extra large battery. Thanks
Lawrence Lee
@Arroe: Thanks for your quick reply. How much is it for 1 x 20000 mah battery to add-on?
ARROE
@Lawrence Lee: Hi Lawrence, yes you will be able to select add ons once the campaign is finished and we do the backer survey. Thanks, ARROE Team
Lawrence Lee
Is it possible to buy additional large battery as I seldom use 5000mah battery, i prefer 20000 mah battery instead and both of it. Do advise. Thanks
ARROE
@Natasha Anderson-Sondesky: Awesome thank you!!
Natasha Anderson-Sondesky
Thank you for your super prompt response. I'll help out now in the hopes that there are more like me carrying beasts with them every day. :) Go forth and conquer, I'm rooting for you guys!
ARROE
@Natasha Anderson-Sondesky: Yes we would love to accommodate as many people as possible. The only reason we haven't done larger sizes is because we have to make minimum quantities of each size and we didn't see sufficient demand for laptops above 15". If we can find enough people with 17" laptops we would definitely make a size for that. Thanks, ARROE Team
Natasha Anderson-Sondesky
Any chance in the future you'll have something to accommodate larger, i.e. 17", laptops?
ARROE
@simon tan: Hi Simon, all of the LAER models have QI wireless charging built in but we didn't do a reward for the LAER PRO with the QI wireless charging receiver because we thought having too many rewards would be confusing. If you choose the LAER PRO reward now you will definitely be able to add on the QI receiver at a later stage. Is that helpful? Kind regards, ARROE Team
simon tan
Hello. Will you be offering a sleeve with Qi wireless charging for those who don't need a sling bag like me?
ARROE
@Tony Herrero: Hi Tony, we have a size that would fit the 13" version but the 15" is too big to fit inside LAER. Kind regards, ARROE Team
Tony Herrero
Hey gusy have a question for you, do you think the Dockcase will fit in the sleeve? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/767329947/dockcase-the-ultimate-dock-and-case-for-macbook-pr/description
ARROE
@Nicholas Pires: Hi Nicholas, we are producing in China but right now the plan is to ship EU orders from within the EU and US orders from within the US. All other orders will probably ship from China. Kind regards, ARROE
Nicholas Pires
@ARROE - Being a UK based backer and this campaign run in £ will LAER be shipped from within the UK? Just making sure there won't be any other hidden custom charges etc...
ARROE
@Kristin Anderson Morin: Hi Kristin, this is really great feedback thank you! We need as much feedback as possible from backers like yourself because despite all our experience this is our first Kickstarter. We have updated the risks and challenges section of our page to be more informative and reassuring. Would love to hear your thoughts. Kind regards, Eoin
Kristin Anderson Morin
Eoin, WOW! It sounds like you really do have a powerful team in place to see this through! I'd recommend you add at least a little bit of that detail to your campaign page, or even the FAQs. It might help others feel more confident to back. Not everyone will look to the comments. And assuming this area gets busy as you gain more support, this conversation will get buried. :)
ARROE
Hi Kristin, So glad you like the product. This is a great question and I am very happy to answer it! Although this is our first product with ARROE we launched a range of charging products in 2015 through another brand called SLAINT, you can see more info on that here www.slaintbrand.com
It was actually the feedback we got from SLAINT that drove us to make LAER. Here is some background on myself (Eoin) and my Co Founder Romain EOIN COONEY has worked in the consumer goods industry since 2002 starting in retail then moving into project management, product development and business development. He has been exposed to all aspects of the industry, retail, design, production, wholesale, e-commerce and marketing. He has worked for brands like Paul Costelloe, Urban Outfitters, Diesel, Orla Kiely, Derek Rose, Tateossian and also advises new start-ups in his spare time. He has studied Law, Design, Business and is an active alumnus at the University of the Arts London.  While working at Orla Kiely in 2009 he managed a collaboration with Apple to create technology accessories which was one of the world's first technology & fashion collaborations. From this collaboration he grew a global tech accessories category for Orla Kiely and then sold the license to Belkin in 2012. Since then he has focused on what comes next, clothing and accessories with integrated technology that has a real life function. In 2015 he founded the brand SLAINT selling luxury bags for men with integrated charging. https://www.linkedin.com/in/eoincooney/ ROMAIN PASCAL is a multidisciplinary designer. He founded his design studio in Paris in 2010, before moving to London the following year. He works with brands in the luxury, cosmetics and fashion industries with references such as Smashbox, Lacoste, Givenchy, Aveda, l’Oréal, Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani. He frequently collaborates with craftsmen, artists and makers for the production of one-offs or small editions which have been exhibited at the New York design week (NY X design), the London Design Festival, the Paris Design Week, the Maison & Objet furniture fair and the VIA,
His research on musical instruments has been exhibited at the St Etienne international design biennial, and the IRCAM in Paris. Romain also worked on SLAINT as a product designer. https://www.linkedin.com/in/romain-pascal-designer/ We have been working with Arrow Electronics since January sourcing components for the product and have been ¨certified¨ by Arrow meaning they have reviewed our product and deemed it feasible for manufacturing. We have been working with our product development and manufacturing partner since March. I am actually going to Shenzhen next week to meet with them and will be able to post some images/updates then! We have been working on LAER for the past 17 months and are fully dedicated to making it a success. This is not just a one off product for us we intend to build a brand from this with many more products to come. We also have amazing people in the consumer tech industry advising us who have successfully brought hundreds of hardware products to market. I hope that answers your question but if not I am happy to provide further clarification. kind regards,
Eoin ARROE Team

Please don't take my question as unfounded negativity. I think this product looks AWESOME, and as you can see, I'm very familiar with Kickstarter projects. But I've learned that there's a lot of risk with manufacturing technology products, and a lot of those on Kickstarter never deliver. You admit openly that this is your company's first product, and seems to also be your first Kickstarter. Would you mind sharing what products, or at least what types of products, your "small team" has a "great history of bringing to market" so we have some confidence this will happen? This has the potential to fall into the "too good to be true" category of Kickstarter tech where the prototype doesn't scale. I'd love to back at a level that gets a reward, but I'd like some reassurance you're prepared for what comes next than a vague statement in the "risks" section. Thanks, and best of luck!
