Hi everyone. First and foremost, we are terribly sorry for not replying here! We were focusing on the messages and totally didn't notice the comment section. Sorry. @shai
We just released an short update. In the next few weeks we will be releasing several updates regarding the device. We are on schedule, and should be able to send it to you by the end of June. As for the app, it will be released together with the device, as it is still undergoing rigorous testing.

Thank you for the warm words and feedback. As mentioned a previous update, we are considering putting the battery in the device in the near future. However for the first lot, we declined to put the battery in order to fulfill our promises for the date. We are so sorry to say this, and can't stop those who need the battery from cancelling the pledge.

Review from Kickstarter
If you proceed with an electric chord, then I no longer wish to back this effort and a full refund. It won't be hassle free if you don't make it battery powered. It seems that you aren't listening to your backers. A battery-powered device is what you advertised and what your backers want. It is that battery that makes your device unique amongst the myriad of devices available, including some with smart phone apps which don't require users to buy essential hours from the device manufacturer (which are still cheaper than your even after the $10 discount you are offering). You seem to be too focused on the delivery date. I back several Kickstarter campaigns and very few meet the originally posted delivery dates (one coming up on two years). That is because through the design process the campaign organizers work through challenges and obstacles they encounter in an effort to deliver the product they advertised, and to be sure top quality is achieved. I'm fine with that, as long as they provide regular updates. It is part of being a Kickstarter backer. If you deliver a product that is not battery powered then it will not be what you advertised during the campaign, nor will it be very unique and therefore worth the higher cost. Profitability is important for any business venture, but not at the expense of customer support/loyalty.

Thank you for the suggestion. We are not considering single use batteries as they will require constant change and defy the original goal of a hassle-free smart diffuser.

I really appreciate that you’ve taken the time to respond personally. I am also going to have to wait for the next gen since the battery is the main selling point for my needs. I’ll keep a small pledge to show my support and watch how things go. I realize your team is trying to make a sound decision, and I cannot be upset with that — it’s the responsible thing to do. I guess I’m just baffled why your team woke up and realized this problem now with a day left in the campaign rather than before you launched. After all, the issues with shipping batteries worldwide span back at least two years and is nothing new. It’s an issue all projects with batteries must deal with and consider. They factor getting certified by various safety organizations (ie: FCC, CE, etc.) to make shipping batteries possible into the time they need to finish R&D, manufacture, and then deliver. I assumed you guys had a plan to get the proper certifications if you were launching a product with a battery and didn’t even mention the shipping issues as a risk of this project. I’m disappointed, but I respect your decision to do your best to deliver. I just hope you won’t have lots of upset backers post-campaign who may have missed your last minute update. Even with a power plug, Scentee is a great machine for people looking to get a smart diffuser and don’t need to move it around or place it in an awkward spot. Perhaps when it’s time to work on 2.0, I can help your team beta test and improve Scentee — I have 20 years of hardware/software beta testing and reviewing experience and would love the opportunity to help improve Scentee’s UX and UI. Feel free to contact me in a private message if I can ever help! :-)

@Marsha Tyszler @ʕ•̫͡•ʕ•̫͡•ʔ (● ˃̶͈̀ロ˂̶͈́)੭ꠥ⁾⁾ @Jedi Master @shai graifner Thank you for your very honest feedback.
My name is Koki, CEO of Scentee. I know a lot of people want the version with battery and looking forward to getting this.
After a deep consideration, we decided not to attach the lithium ion battery for the lot from kickstarter. Even I like the generation with lithium ion battery as a CEO and I would. But finally sorry to anounce that we've decided not to accept it for this verion. First of all, the main reason we announced the update of this before finishing the campaign is we want to delivery the product completely to all users in the world correctly by time. We've got pledges from more than 30 countries from the world, and for this I've been searching carefully in advance for the all shipping into the world. However for some countries we found a difficulty for shipping world wide because of the air shipping regulations of these days. In fact it is mainly caused by shipping issue, not our development issue. Well, I really want to do something responsing to your warm words , feedbak and special support for the pledge for the project.
Let me suggest you to refund the battery cost, 10 USD for each device for all. By the way, to avoid accepting the lithium ion battery for this genaration doesn't mean we don't ever accept battery in the future model.
As soon as I finish all preparing for the shipping, we may produce the version with lithium ion battery version again. Of course, some people may cancel the pledge disappointing at our decision, and I am sorry for that. In the last, we are of course producing the device itself, cloud, and app all together every day to the best in our factory to deliver you this product by the date of delivery. Thank you for your all support and we promise to deliver you this product soon. Scentee

I’m waiting for a response too — I’m trying to give them the opportunity to consider and reply to our comments before I decide either way. This is an expensive purchase even with crowdfunding discounts, so this decision to possibly back out doesn’t come lightly. I’m hoping the team is having an emergency meeting and will come back with a response ASAP. I don’t even think the issues they mentioned with the batteries as reasons for changing to a plug were mentioned as risks for this campaign, so when I backed, I assumed they had a solid plan for development, sourcing parts, testing, and shipping with new lithium battery rules. And if they are going ahead with switching to a plug, for backers who stay, the price of Scentee should be considerably less (and they should offer a choice refunds or scent capsules to make up the price difference). I’d really like to understand how this just came up now and wasn’t considered before the campaign was launched. Other than what I said in my prior comments, I agree with you that Scentee would not be much different than other such machines that are sold on Amazon and elsewhere if the campaign switches to a cord. There’s even a smart diffuser with a power cord called Lumiere that was created here on Kickstarter, and it essentially has the same features as Scentee, PLUS the ability to use your own essential oils. Lumiere is less expensive than the price of Scentee. I have Lumiere, and it’s been a great machine — except for the power cord often limiting where I can put the machine. When I saw Scentee, I felt that the lack of a cord would allow me to use a diffuser in places that are impossible to accomplish while attached to a power source. If the cord is there, then I may as well keep using the smart diffuser I already have. Or as you said, people can easily get something from Amazon. I’m shocked that the campaign does not realize the value behind making Scentee 100% wireless as there’s no other machine on the market with this feature. Sometimes risks must be taken in order to bring something truly novel to the market — and yes, there are risks and complications in making Scentee rechargeable, but it is this one feature that truly brings something unique to the world of diffusers. What happened that the campaign feels it’s too risky with a day left in their campaign? Why would they not have made these considerations and planned properly before launching the campaign in order to reduce the associated risks as much as possible? And with such a last-minute decision about the battery, then it leads me to worry what other major features the campaign may decide to switch post-campaign and/or what other crucial details and decisions they may have overlooked or not fully considered in regards to R&D, sourcing supplies, selecting manufacturers, shipping, app development, etc. I’m hoping to see a response from the team soon so I’ll have ample time to weigh my options. I’m disappointed in the last update for many reasons.

@Marsha I haven’t bought a diffuser yet (even a cheap one in Amazon) because I saw this campaign and I was like oh yeah! Finally a diffuser with no wires that I can put in my center table and would look amazing! Haha. The possibilities of moving these diffuser from a high shelf to places with no access to outlets was my main purchasing point. Back to square one. Lol. I might wait till the @creator respond before backing out. I am still sure it could be done.

I agree 100% with all points that Marsha makes. - when you make the change less than 24 hours that’s considered a good BAIT-AND-SWITCH. Lol. Great points, Marsha! BTW, please @creator don’t consider us haters or that we want to smear your campaign or something. I am sure that we are giving you our honest simple feedback. In the end, you’ll do what you gotta do, I guess. Kickstarters usually do improvements to design and function, you just did the opposite. Lol.

Review from Kickstarter
Some campaigns get around the battery issues you’ve mentioned by shipping units without a battery installed and then having users buy one themselves in their own country to insert. For instance, you could tell us what kind of lithium batteries are needed (such as 18,500), and then we can go buy them ourselves. I really like the idea of Scentee being wireless so it can be placed anywhere in a room, moved easily, etc. The cord may be okay for some, but I see it as a major feature because of where I’m intending on using it. Making this change with only 24 hours to go in the campaign is a bit unfair as I’m certain many backers won’t see this update until after the campaign has ended. I realize the problem and you have valid concerns, but when you present a campaign with a major feature and then change it at last minute, you aren’t giving backers enough time to decide whether the product is still right for their needs. Some campaigns make minor changes to their devices that are cosmetic or changes to an equivalent part because a supplier backed out — you’re making a major change to Scentee’s user interface and user experience. Yes, you’re doing so before the campaign is over, but you will have upset backers who will not have seen this update before the campaign ends. Why is this only coming up now with 24 hours to go rather than considering the major issues and risks that are faced by using batteries? Did your team not consider these matters before the campaign? What led your team to make this change on the last day of your campaign? Even though I’ve seen your update, I’m a bit torn about how to proceed because I love Scentee, but I really need it to have the capability of being powered without a cord. I would also think that the price should go down considerably if you’re removing a major component — integrating a battery would cost far more to develop, purchase the components, do safety testing, etc. than using a simple power plug. I’ve been your biggest fan, as you know, but this decision really feels like a major last minutes afterthought that changes the usability of your product in a major way. It limits where you can place Scentee (ie: can’t place it on a high shelf, in the middle of a table, etc. because of the cord), the ability to move it around easily (many outlets are behind furniture or in awkward places, and moving a Scentee would require moving the furniture to get to the outlet and/or buying much longer USB cables), etc. Had Scentee been wired from the start of your campaign, I don’t know if I would have backed it. The price of Scentee now being too high since it no longer has the charging capability is a secondary issue, as I explained above. I’d really hate to back out of my pledge now, but I may have to if you’re going to change the power source because of where I intended on placing the device and how I would have moved it around. I have a lot of thinking to do now . . . backing out of a pledge isn’t something I do unless there is a major reason, and this change may sadly constitute as such.

@creator please reconsider having the lithium batteries. There will also be some backers who unfortunately won’t see the update about the AC power and they will be pretty pissed once they know about not being wireless once they read the update after the campaign. Just saying. I don’t think it’s cool at all that you confirmed in some of the comments that it was lithium powered only to change it 24 hours before the campaign ends. And not to mention that in ALL your pictures and press kit and a few YouTube vids you show the diffuser without wires. Anyways, it’s just honest feedback.

Review from Kickstarter
Your last update was very disappointing & like the comment below, your choice to change to AC is a deal breaker. I felt encouraged to ask more questions but now I'm not interested unless the Scentee Machina is battery operated. Your reasons for changing to AC are not realistic & I've backed 63 projects on kickstarter & a lot of my pledges include battery operated technology. Everyone else can ship without a problem, why not your team! It doesn't look like you've seriously considered your logistic planning. Lastly, the portability of Scentee for camping or instances where electricity are not available have downgraded it overall potential & is now comparable to a general oil diffuser like your previous project was, only now it wired. This is sad. I'll wait for your response & if it's not pleasing, I'm out & wish you guys luck.

Thank you for your concern!
Yes, refills will be around $18. We understand your perspective. In this case though, in addition to making sure that we deliver the best fragrance quality, we have built the device around the concept that you can control the diffuser smartly so that it suits your needs (i.e not having to be on 24/7 (which will make it last way more then 30days), can control through smartphone...etc), which on a technological perspective too, costs us a little more than usual diffusers to make that happen. >Or is there a way for us to put our own oil or fragrance in the machine?
Since we manufacture our own fragrances that are suitable for the device, putting in any other liquids will damage the device. Please check the explanation in the update.

One more question: the refills price would be around $18 bucks (1800 yen) right? Could you make that cheaper? $18 bucks it’s imo a very expensive for just 30 days (at regular strength) given that you could buy oils for $3 bucks for regular diffusers and last a couple of years. Or is there a way for us to put our own oil or fragrance in the machine? These are some concerns of mine. I pledged for a few early birds, but I am still debating. Anyways, thank you again.

>How long will one container of scent last?
It is desigend to last for about one month for normal usage (normal strength, 8 hours/day). >What is the breakdown for usage inline with your app?
There are three strengths (or lengths): 3, 5 and 7 seconds. You can control the rate of spraying (spray each x minutes). Also you can set it as an alarm. >Can your Scentee App blend scent together for Quattro?
You mean two spraying two scents at the same time? No it can't. But it is a feature that we can definitely look into. >Is there a manual setting to use without the app?
Yes there is. There is also a button to turn the device on/off and select which bottle as well. >Can your pair multiple Quattro or Uno?
Yes, through the app. >Are the Scentee containers pressure sensitive or can they travel in planes?
They can travel by plane. (no pressure problem). But due to the size of the bottle, it can't be in a hand carry. >Are the scents you use 'organic'?
Some are made from organic material , some are made for room fragrance artificially.
