MyŒno Smart Wine Scanner

Never waste money on a bottle of wine you don’t like with the MyŒno Smart Wine Scanner. By using the MyŒno Smart Wine Scanner, you can always choose a bottle of wine that corresponds to your taste. Simply dip the MyŒno Scanner into your glass of wine to instantly receive its main oenological characteristics on your phone. Similarly, the app displays the strength, tannins, acidity and evolution levels of the wine. Furthermore, you can rate the wine according to your taste. You can even tag the flavors you recognize, which helps build the database. In addition, you can easily find similar wines by comparing data collected from other users. Before you buy a bottle, use the app to compare the characteristics to your favorite style. Finally, if the characteristics of the wine don’t match your taste, it’s likely that you won’t enjoy it.

Hi myoeno team, I tried everything but I'm unable to connect my scanner to the smartphone. Scanner shows up on bluetooth and asks for a password but after putting in the right password it doesn't show up on the app. It does show up on bluetooth settings as connected devices but not as actively connected. Could you problem solve this?
Scott W
The problem is that I tested several times and got a different result each and every test! Also your response raises another concern, the wine that I added along with many others are now in the database although the results are incorrect, should these wines not be purged from the database in order to eliminate erroneous results?
MyŒno Team
Your second trial was good but not the first. The result (5% or 95%) appears when you put too quickly the wine scanner into the glass before the solid green light. Please note that the calibration phase is done outside the glass of wine and when the ligth is solid green, you can dip the scanner (points 7-8 of the notice). And your different tests will be consistent.

I keep scanning the same wine and each time I get a different reading, first time I got 52 power, 5 tannin and 49 acidity, 10 minutes later I got 76 power, 65 tannin and 52 acidity, since then I got several variations, each time I cleaned the scanner, dried it with the supplied towel and followed the instructions to perform the scan, why is this happening?
MyŒno Team
You can access to the guide as mentionned inside the packaging at
That's correct, in iOS, you will see your device only in the MyOeno App.

I would appreciate if you can let me know the shipping status of my scanners.
David Klein
I have haven’t seen any tracking information, will that be sent out soon?
Scott W
The tracking info i received is showing my delivery stuck somewhere in Canadian Customs since December 20, its a little disappointing not to know what exactly is happening with it, is it possible to get an update?
Greg Pajak
My scanner didn’t make it to me for the Christmas deadline. When will I get updated shipping info for the device? I have send a few messages and no reply.

@ Marc
EVOLUTION: Information about the youth of the wine or maturity. Shown on a 100-point scale. The higher the value, the more the wine has evolved (aged). Generally, purplish-colored wines have a slight evolution compared to brown-colored wines.
Marc McGuinness
Dear MyŒno Team,
Thank you so much for sending me your product! I received it yesterday and tested it immediately! Everything seems to work fine. However, I was wondering what exactly "Evolution" is supposed to tell me in the app. Can you give me more information on this?
MyŒno Team
Great to read your comment!
You can create multiple profiles, even on the same smartphone.
You just have to logout and create a new account. Of course it's easier if you have different smartphones :)
However, note that the Scan cannot send the measures to 2 smartphones at the same time. This is the regular Bluetooth technology. The best solution is to redo the test.
Travis Cogswell
Just got the scanner AWESOME simply awesome. Is there anyway to have multiple profiles. Me and my wife are completely different in wine taste and would like to separate it. Or do I just not know what I’m doing. Cause that might be it also. Anyway thank you it is great.

Disappointed others got their today and mine is stuck somewhere on the east coast. Guess it will come the 26th, sigh. Solid effort though coming from France

Your first trial was good but not the second. The result (5% or 95%) appears when you put too quickly the wine scanner into the glass before the solid green light. Please note that the calibration phase is done outside the glass of wine and when the ligth is solid green, you can dip the scanner (points 7-8 of the notice). And your different tests will be consistent. Today you can delete a wine in your history. Just slide to left on the wine and the trash appears :) In the new version, you will be able to modify your wine card after the validation. For the mark trouble, we noticed that if you slide up before validate your card, the button "confirm" overlaps the marks. In this particulary case, when you validate, you could unintentionally change the mark. An update in the ergonomy is needed. Let us know the mark you want at and we will change it quickly :)
Hi creator
Received mine yesterday and tested it twice today, in the same wine (a bordeaux) in the same glass and got 2 different results :-/ I tried to clean the lower part where the laser is (in a small water glass) and wiped it very gently then re-tested it in the same wine glass (same wine same quantity) with no luck. Is mine defective? Also a suggestion: to be able to modify (or even remove) a wine we tested: I firstly did the MyOeno check in the glass then waited a few time to taste it and when I came back to the file to indicate the savors i had recognized and to choose a mark it was impossible to edit the test - and worse, the app automatically indicated 5 stars whereas it was absolutely not the quotation I wanted to choose :-/ therefore it could fail all my future tastings:-(
Got it delivered by mail today! Just in time for the Christmas gift. Looks good and works perfect with the beta version app in English. Thanks for this fast service!
MyŒno Team
@stefan Today if your phone language is not supported by the app, the default language is French. We will publish soon an update to change the default language in English. The beta version is ready to test. We send you an access ;)
Bonjour, thanks for sending the tracking information. The package is already in the Netherlands! Compliments as you are the fastest kickstarter project ever! Just downloaded the MyOeno app and registered. Somehow I am not able to change language settings in English. Any advice how to do so?

I understand your question.
Be sure that we do not plan to sell our database to external / partners websites.
Thank to your phone we can know (if you previously accept it) your localization in order to make you appropriate suggestions. But nobody else will contact you or know your data. By the way, our compagny just records email adress for the customer service.
Of course our App respects GDPR and CNIL current regulations (including servers good practices).
MyŒno Team
Thank you for your interest and your support!
Our goal is to send the products this saturday afternoon.
So you will receive soon an invitation to indicate your adress for the shippment.
Hi creator
Great idea but one of your answers below seems quite frightening to me.
[...]If you Scan wines of your country, other users will discover and maybe buy these wines. And if our application makes you recommandations of foreign wines, I’m sure Internet purchase will be a good solution. In addition, in few weeks, we will improve the relevance of the recommandations according to your localization in order to easily and rapidly obtain the wines you should love![...]
==> Does it mean you will sell your database to external / partners websites for them to provide us offers / recommandations? Your sentences seem like this is what you plan to do.
Also, what about our data protection in your servers? Will the app be gdpr compliant? Where will our data be stored?
I'm so glad to be an early bird owner. :)
but I have a question : Since I participate I did not received a mail asking my adress for the shippement. Is it normal ? Thanks guys!
MyŒno Team
You are right! This is our main concern today. For example, we are on the right track particulary with online wine retailers :)
Altman James Heddens
Love the concept, love the execution. I think a lack of a community might be the downfall. At this point I think building a solid user-base should be top priority and most beneficial, this is where most "community" driven devices and databases fail. This is good for self tracking on things you buy and decide to try, but being able to effectively narrow your selections before purchase is a huge draw to a lot of markets...
I think you need more international exposure, especially Napa Valley, Tuscany, Ribera del Duero, countless places in Chile/Argentina, etc. Get the wine makers to actually use it and the data as a selling point for them. That gives the user a benchmark and the vintners free advertising data.
MyŒno Team
Thank you for your interest!
Please do not hesitate to contact us:
Great idea! This is what I'm seeking for! Wondering how we can connect to see if any opportunities to make it available to more Chinese consumers?
MyŒno Team
@Alex, thank you for your questions. - We currently have a database included more than 2000 wines in few weeks. The database will build up from other users (specific wines) and from partnerships with wine professionals (common wines). Rome wasn't built in a day, that’s why we need also your support :)
- You could charge your MyOeno Scan thanks to an USB cable included in the packaging.
- Thanks to your pledges, we will created additional functions on our App like: food and wine pairing, wine cellar management, pesticide detection, automatic recognition of the label and other! You can have a look at our timeline ;) That’s the main goal of this campaign.
- We don't see any benefit to detect the wine’s age or identify the wine brand because you can find easily this information on the bottle. However, the evolution level measured by our device give you a good idea of the maturity of a wine whatever its age. It depends mainly on the wine’s components, the climate and the work of the winemakers. Interestingly, different wine brands could have the same characteristics and thanks to the app you will easily find similar wines. We hope that you will enjoy soon your MyOeno Scan!
Alex Simion
Congratulations for the idea and concept, guys. Mais, j’ai une question. Can you confirm the fact that you don’t currently have a database with wines and the database builds up as long as the buyers keep adding wines? Just to clear this up, do you affirm or infirm this? Moreover, how do we charge the MyOenometer? Are you planning on updating the app in the future to allow more features for the Oenometer? Something like detecting the wine’s age with +-1 year error or identify the wine brand. Thanks in advance for your response, based on it I’m going to decide whether I should keep on backing the project or withdraw.
MyŒno Team
The device has 2 main interests: To know and understand the wine characteristics you love. There is no doubt that the Scan is useful, wherever you are :) To know the wines you should love. If you Scan wines of your country, other users will discover and maybe buy these wines. And if our application makes you recommandations of foreign wines, I’m sure Internet purchase will be a good solution. In addition, in few weeks, we will improve the relevance of the recommandations according to your localization in order to easily and rapidly obtain the wines you should love!
Steve Sebban
So in the case I'm the only one with MyOeno in my country, is the device still useful to get recommandations on wines?
MyŒno Team
You're right, MyOeno uses a user-based reference database.
In addition, we have formed a team of sommeliers, wine merchants, and restaurant owners who improve and complete this database!
The main idea is to collect wines which cover as much as possible their diversity.
Of course, all red wines are interesting, not only French wines ;)
Steve Sebban
If I understood correctly, to be useful, MyEno uses a user-based reference database. Will you also develop your own database? Will this database contains international wines or only good for French wines?
Joschka Schaffner
Thank you!
MyŒno Team
@Joschka - Thank you for your comment. We added Switzerland;) It was an oversight!
Joschka Schaffner
Hi guys First of all, I have to say this looks like a very cool gadget.
But why do you not ship the early bird scanners to Switzerland? I'd love to get mine in December.
