Titan, A Unique Edc Pen Made With Carbon Fiber And Titanium Grade 5

Editor's Rating
4.8?
Discovered on 2015-12-19

Titan is a cool and practical pen that can be attached to your keys, bag, belt or backpack and used in everyday occasion. Titan is so small and light that you can keep it in your pocket, but at the same time you can use it as a real pen, thanks to its original insert system. It’s made out of titanium grade 5, the strongest available, and carbon fiber, a combination of the two strongest and coolest materials. You can’t go any better than that. A brass version is also available. Titan has been engineered and made to perfection, every single small details has been taken care of. If you are looking for a cool EDC pen this is the perfect one. Weight and balance are perfect both for the titanium and the brass version. The D1 refill can be easily replaced from the front section or from the back. It is equipped with two o-rings, one for posting the cap and the other one for securing a tight closing and preventing any accidental opening.

Hello from Cali, Have all pens been shipped yet? I've received nothing yet.

Received my pen today (Melbourne, Australia). Appears to be a very well made writing instrument. I am carrying it on my key ring and because of the light weight materials I hardly notice it at all. Excellent addition to my Every Day Carry. Thanks Carlo. It was worth the wait.

Just received my titanium Titan in the UK.
The machining and finish are both excellent, with the improved gate clip being a really nice touch.
Any issues I have with the pen are due to the design itself, but since the design is exactly as shown on the Kickstarter campaign page, I knew what to expect and am very happy with the pen delivered.

Hi Craig,
sorry for the delay
at the moment we are just waiting to receive the last part, the little keyring, since we decided to have all parts made in titanium. it should be ready this week. You should be able to receive your titan in about two or three weeks.
I just would like to assure you that we have been doing our best to make this product and we apologize for the delay.
I will post an up date shortly.
Thank you

Why do so many Kickstarter creators these days ignore their backers and display such poor communication skills? It's not like I'm asking a particularly difficult question either.

Review from Kickstarter
@Creator So you said July 15? It's now July 19. Just wondering how you're going?

@creator thank you for the update. I appreciate that your project is probably a small run hence why you keep getting pushed down the list of cnc jobs. I'm sure there are larger more profitable projects they wish to cnc first. If production starts at the end of next week as you say (which is mid June) then I don't see shipping starting at the same time. But we will have patience. It's a prerequisite of backing any KS project.

Just a few more days guys, the titanium production will start by the end of next week, hopefully we will start shipping around the mid of June.
Pens are great, we are having this delay because CNC machines are busy these days for other pruduction, soon will be our turn.
Thank you for your patience.

@Creator Are there any updates on production timings of the Titanium version? You mentioned last week of May or first week of June in the previous update. Is it still the case?

Thanks, it's certainly not a deal-breaker though, if you feel that a larger hole isn't suitable.

Hello Tofty
Thank you for your comment. I will try to make those changes and see how it looks, my concern is that 3,5 -4 mm hole is quite big and it may change the look of that part. Let me try and see how it comes out.
Thank you

@creator. I really like this pen design. Reminds me of the, now unavailable, original Inka Pen, although your pen can be used in the lengthened position much more quickly, than it could. I do however have one suggestion, in regards to the lanyard hole. If the hole were made larger (3.5-4mm in diameter), then the spring clip could be reversed and be clipped directly to the pen, rather than being permanently attached to the pen and clipping to a keychain or similar.
My issue is that; currently when writing, the split ring and clip will be moving around and acting as a distraction and/or irritation to the writer. If you do pursue this a possible option, then please consider making sure that gate clips like the McGizmo clip will fit. At least in it's 20 and 25mm sizes (No.1 Nano and No.2 Micro), as these are robust clips, which are popular with the EDC community.
Cheers

Yeah, I'm with @Matthew, backing the MQR. More worried I'll have issues with it coming unscrewed like my Tiny has a habit of doing. Don't get me wrong, I use my Tiny all the time, just not on a keychain. This is a really cool looking pen. Hope I like using it as much as I like my Tiny.

@creator - if the small hole at the end of the pen (which the small loop goes through) is strong enough, which attaches to the quick release then great. looking forward to getting it. It looks great in the main kickstarter picture in the car. I intend to use it with a magnetic link also on kickstarter which I have backed https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tactical/ti-mqr-titanium-magnetic-quick-release-edc-keychai/description

Hi Ron and Matthew, thank you for your comments.
It could definitely be an option, but in that case you would lose the benefit of a quick release and use the pen with the cap posted.
I am thinking of offering the pen like it is, but with the possibility of connecting the pen directly to the key ring by eliminating the chain and the quick release devise. However, the one I use come from Germany and they are good quality, I have been testing it for almost three months now I don’t have any problems. Same thing with the o rings I spend a lot of time screwing and unscrewing the pen and there is no signs of any malfunctions.
Thank you

@creator. Great looking pen, I like the the fact that you can extend it. The clip at the end of the pen though doesn't look that durable. I hope to connect it to my house keyring with my car keys, I don't want the keyring side to break off. I agree with Ron about the loop on the pen side and key ring with no chain if thats an option. If the loop on the pen side was solid/thick and unlikely to snap off it would be quality.

Carlo, this is a really nice project... I wish I had heard about the previous two.
Nevertheless congratulations on this one.... My only hope is that you do deliver as your schedule says, April 2016?
Good luck.... Maybe you'll have some stretched goal?
Regards,
Sam, London.

Carlo My 3rd pen with you. Any thoughts on the keychain link. I thought maybe something stronger like a loop on pen side and key ring (no chain). My current edc pen gets rattled with my keys and other items on the key chain. Ron
