TRINUS – The Affordable All-Metal 3D Printer

Editor's Rating
4.8?
Discovered on 2016-04-07

Made of industrial grade parts, the TRINUS is the professional 3D printer you can afford. Not only this, this all-metal 3D printer can transform into a laser engraver within 60 seconds. Trinus is made with all premium aluminum and steel parts. Not only does it have a metal frame, it also has metal internal components. No loose belts or plastic gears. Again, with 11 modular units, you will be able to set up TRINUS in no time. Scaled down from industrial-grade machines, Trinus delivers stability, accuracy, and durability. At its core is a single-axis slide that is commonly used in industrial machines but rarely found in desktop 3D printers. The team was able to design a low-cost single-axis slide that delivers extremely high precision but keeps Trinus affordable. With all metal internal components, Trinus does not require constant recalibration. Its parts stay in place. Because it is so stable, Trinus maintains quality printing up to print speeds of 70 mm/sec, and is capable of running at a maximum speed of 150 mm/sec. It prints at a minimum layer height of 50 microns, generating clean and smooth prints. A powerful printer now brought to you at an affordable price.

You made some decent points there. I seemed on the internet for the problem and found most individuals will go along with with your website.

After study several of the blog posts in your web page now, and I genuinely like your way of blogging. I bookmarked it to my bookmark site list and might be checking back soon. Pls have a look at my web site at the same time and let me know what you believe.

Hi! I know this is kinda off topic but I’d figured I’d ask. Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest writing a blog post or vice-versa? My website discusses a lot of the same subjects as yours and I believe we could greatly benefit from each other. If you happen to be interested feel free to shoot me an e-mail. I look forward to hearing from you! Awesome blog by the way!

I really like your blog.. very nice colors & theme. Did you create this website yourself or did you hire someone to do it for you? Plz reply as I’m looking to create my own blog and would like to know where u got this from. kudos

Trinus is printing nicely beside me as I examine both sides of the Kodama Obsidian/Furling Yan issue. Kodama says they were ripped off; Furling says the Yan was first and Obsidian is the mimic. Now, why does this remind me of the earlier Trinus/Panowin F1 combination? I hope everyone here gets their Trinus up and running (mine's been fine) and that the Obsidian comes in the end.

Daniel, thank you, but I don't use Facebook at all. I'll try and get them but im betting I need an account.
Again, if they were on the website, so much easier for everyone.

@Jens, totally agree. It's really silly we have to read through a hundred forum posts, or Facebook, or some random guys website, to get the most basic of documentation. Should be a pdf file of documentation, software, and config files in one spot. Makes no sense to do all this work and put out a really quality printer, and not do that last final step for the people who bought it.

Would be super nice if you guys provided config files for the most popular slicing softwares, Slic3r, Cura.

@david bollman; have you tried CURA, AstroPrint or S3D? You are not limited to Pango ;-)
As long the export is gCode you are fine.

Compared to the people that haven't gotten the printer my request is relatively minor. However the difficulty I've been experience with making a regular STL 3-D print through the software provided or worse, using better but external software has been very challenging. I would highly recommend you take the time to make a good plug-in for 3-D slicer that will out-of-the-box print to the STL file without any issues because every time I go in to print a new one after been away from it for a month or two weeks I spent probably an hour figuring out what I did last time to make it work and
it really shouldn't need to. I'm nearly positive I want to bottom maker bot it would've just worked. It doesn't take into account the many deep grooves I have in my heated bad because of variations in the vertical direction of the Trinis with the various Slicers.

@xin I had a bit of trouble with this myself. The issue is that your not actually getting the filament loaded all the way. Try trimming the end of the spool at a tapered angle and wiggling it at different angles. You will know when it is in properly because it will drop in further. When you print you should no longer hear the clicking

I really like the Trinus - but I did not even consider taking a look at the Obsidian because there is literally NO concept for documentation. The three Downloads are okay, but every thing else is scattered on social media and the forums. Some things not even searchable (annotated images posted on facebook). Kodama should really take a look at e.g. E3D and make all information available in a searchable and easily readable way. What a bummer. :(

Dear Trinus backers, two exciting announcements. 1) As promised in the original campaign, we are developing a CNC add on that goes above and beyond what other machines in our class can do, and we will present our prototype results soon on the forums and Facebook. 2) Trinus has a new brother: Obsidian. Obsidian is a fully-assembled 3D printing kit with the same PLA print quality as Trinus, in a simpler and more affordable package. The goal of Obsidian is to make 3D printing easy and affordable for everyone. Please share with your friends and family, or maybe even pick one up as a gift or for yourself. :-) * Next KS Update coming soon. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1403065126/obsidian-3d-printer-high-quality-sleek-and-afforda/description

HI Kodama / Lucas. Can you please follow up on my ticket / Tickets... really not getting traction on getting my missing parts sent out. My first ticket 45697 is still open since 3 months ago. when I commented here two weeks you asked me to make a new ticket - 47514. That also hasn't been replied to. I'm unsure what else I can or should do apart from spam these comments (my previous comment requesting the ticket to be looked into was skipped over).

For everyone asking about unfulfilled orders from the eCommerce store: Our current warehouse in Boston was not able to cope with the large number of recently incoming orders. We are currently moving to a bigger and more advanced location in New Jersey. This week logistics in the US will still be slow, but were promised "full speed" operations again from next week. Sorry for any recently missed deadlines, we are working on improving this! Lukas

I purchased a second printer on BackerKit on approximately March 13, 2017. My payment was accepted on March 15, 2017, and it was noted delivery was to be in April. I have heard nothing since and have sent several emails asking for more information on delivery. At this point, I say just cancel my order and refund my money. It is to much trouble to get any information from you and I am very disappointed in response time (or lack there of).
