Discovered on 2017-12-16

Protect any lens anytime with the KUVRD Universal Lens Cap. With a one-size-fits-all design, this clever lens cap takes the confusion and guesswork out of protecting your lenses. The KUVRD Lens is made of highly durable yet stretchy material. It remains at 60mm and can stretch as wide as 150mm. With this, it truly fits every single lens you own. In addition, it works on both the front and rear of your lenses for all-over protection. The KUVRD Lens also goes above and beyond a standard hard lens cap. Thanks to the seal it produces, the KUVRD Lens is resistant to the elements including water and even dirt. Plus, it will never fall off so you can have total peace of mind. It also protects against changes in temperature, altitudes, and environments.

@Daniel, thank you. I followed your advise and send KUVRD a direct message. I hope they will respond.
I posted my comments on this board because there are many similar in content messages as mine, and although creators are not informed about these posts, one would think they would frequently visit the board and read and listen to what their backers are saying .
There are a few replies from KUVRD on this very same page.

@KUVRD I got your information that you will ship my pledge to me on 4/6 and give the tracking number.
But I don`t get anything till now.
When can I get it?

@Diamantis Tavartzoglou I would recommend you send your comment as a Direct Message. The creators are not informed when you leave a comment. The comment area is like going into a store, leaving a note on the public bulletin board and hopefully the person sees it without knowing you left it.

Really sorry to say that both of my lens caps have split, the first one took a month and the second split the first time I put it on my lens. Which by the way isn’t big. Sad.

Prior to posting a comment ,there is a note below that urge us to be respectful and considerate!!
KUVRD, have you ever considered, how irrespectful and inconsiderate you are when you are not taking that time to reply to your backers whose hard earned money you used to produce your product.
From where I stand , you took my money, send me nothing, provided a tracking number that informs me that, and I quote "April 3, 2018 at 5:59 pm
Shipment Received, Package Acceptance Pending
PROVO, UT 84601 " and you REFUSE to reply to the comment I posted six days ago.
Well done. Congratulations.

@Tom Falardeau-Leclerc, I am having the warehouse reship your order, I'm not sure why you have not received it yet.
@Alexander Kotka, it has a special coating on the inside to prevent dust/lint from sticking. The great thing about the ULC is that you can also just rinse it off and it is good as new!
@Alfred, I'm sorry that you are having the same issue. If you wash it off, it should be fine!

I supported you on the kickstarter project and I already send you an email that I did not recive my products here in Germany. I write again to complain about the delivery. There was a custom office notice in my mail, that told me that the parcel was send back to you because of custom issues. I am still waiting for my lens caps. Can you give me a delivery date for the products?

Unfortunately, one of my KUVRD lens caps (all are used over 100mm Lee filter rings) developed a tear. It started with the rubber material showing a greyish discolouration and then there was a hole ripped into it. I start to doubt that the one-size-fits-all solution is really viable - it still takes considerable force to put the KUVRD cap on or off. It should have had a ~1cm larger diameter to better fit the large filter adapter ring.

Thanks for the video!!! it's super clear.
I personally would prefer the last option where the hood is mounted into ULC. I hope the rubber 'friction' is good enough to prevent the hood from falling off accidentally. On the other options of wrapping the ULC onto the hood itself, this way may work with the full screw type of hood, but maybe slightly risky of losing the ULC on hoods that come with an unlock botton i.e 24-70mm L II. Because of my own carelessness, I personally have lost several 24-70 hoods :( Also, its kind of weird to put the ULC on those big hoods (100mm L macro, or 70-300mm L). Maybe just me haha.. Anyway I am super satisfied with the quality of the ULC. Keep up the good work guys!

Review from Kickstarter
@Gerhard Huber, THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR THE COMPLIMENTS & THE IN-DEPTH REVIEW!!! In regards to the effort needed to stretch the ULC over larger barrel diameters… you’re totally right… Some even grip so tightly that, like you said, it might remove the lens hood as well. This is one of the biggest reasons why with iteration #2, we’re doing a larger size ULC as well… Not that the ULC doesn’t fit 99.9998% of lenses already, but to take into account the inconvenience AND additional effort it takes to stretch the ULC to fit over lenses with barrel diameters exceeding 105mm… We want the ULC to compliment your photography style, not detract from it by eating up time, creating hassles that are otherwise non-existent and frustrate the user. With the larger sized ULC, it’ll require the photographer much less effort to stretch over any larger barrel diameter lens and still hold true to the benefits that the original ULC has to offer! :) So yes… “Everyone out there using lens hoods, take into consideration that the lens hood might be accidentally removed with the ULC due to the internal grip and pressure it puts on a reversely-mounted lens hood." But, in regards to potentially undue stress put on the lens hoods when reverse mounted onto a lens… this shouldn’t be concerning at all! We’ve tested the ULC on multiple lens hoods (with varying diameters) and removed the ULC 50+ times from each to test exactly this. We also performed duration-testing, stretching the ULC over multiple lens hoods that were reverse-mounted onto lenses (all with varying diameters) and left them in that state for upwards of a month. With both tests, we saw no visual or internal effect to the hoods and all lenses functioned as they initially did before being tested. With that said, it does fit awkwardly on some lenses, especially most fish-eye lenses that come with fixated lens hoods and lens hoods that are “w-shaped”. Nonetheless, the ULC does still fit, doesn’t fall off and provides more protection than a standard Traditional Lens Cap! Thank you again Gerhard for such an in-depth review. We really appreciate it! :) :) -KUVRD

Review from Kickstarter
@Christopher Cahyadi, great point! So, one of the ‘loopholes’ to getting around that is by first reverse mounting the lens hood onto the lens and THEN stretching the ULC over both the lens hood and the glass of the lens! Don’t worry about undue pressure. In addition, if you’re still using your Traditional Lens Caps (TLC), you can always:
1. Reverse mount the lens hood onto the lens.
2. Pinch and lock the TLC onto the front face of the lens.
3. Stretch and cover the TLC and part of the reversely mounted lens hood. At KUVRD, we call that leveling up because you just created the SUPER LENS CAP!!!!!! AWWWWWWW!!! Oh, and if you’re having trouble visualizing any of that, we’ve put together a basic video all about the lens hood and how it can interact with the ULC (WARNING, it is BASIC and LONG cause it was shot in one take… and there is one part where it takes me forever to remount the lens hood cause… well, I was really tired at that moment and forgot I was filming… haha. Nonetheless, here’s a link to the video; https://goo.gl/SF53MQ Hopefully those ‘loopholes’ and and video help with that current annoyance! :) -KUVRD

Review from Kickstarter
I've received my KUVRDs as well. Apart from the inevitable rubber-like smell (that will hopefully disapper after a while), they feel solid and soft and convey ample confidence to protect the lenses. The KUVRD fits nicely over a 100mm LEE Filter ring, which enables me to ditch the ugly plastic caps, while providing better protection. It took some force to stretch the KUVRD over the filter ring but then it nicely encloses the front part of the lens, even wraps around half of the focusing ring. Lenses tested so far: Zeiss 21mm f2.8 Distagon, Nikon 85mm f2.8 PC-E and Nikon 35mm f1.4. I have removed the hoods from all lenses because I'm using the LEE filter system. The Zeiss lens has a metal hood with sharp edges. I would hesitate to use the KUVRD here. I think what needs to be understood is that the KUVRD needs quite some force to be stretched over the lens. While this provides good protection, it does not go well with plastic lens hoods which typically flex as well and which don't lock strongly to the lens. Therefore, when you want to remove the KUVRD from the plastic hood, you may accidentally remove the hood as well. This isn't a problem for me as I'm not using hoods any longer but others should take this into consideration. What I'm 100% sure about however is that I'll never use again these crappy pinch-lock plastic caps! All in all - great product and even the plastic boxes are quite useful for storing other small stuff!

Received my KUVRD. Overall a good product... but it's not designed to cover the lens with the reverse lens hood on (canon 24-70L, 100mm Macro L or 70-300 L). Seems like I have now basically need to travel with the hoods separated which is annoying. :(

@Mark Pell, You are the one that needs to check the customs and tax requirements of importing goods into your country. It is unfair to expect the creators to have full knowledge of the laws and charges of your government as each country has different laws and, as some projects can have backers in over 100 different countries, it isn't possible for a creator to know all of the laws for each country.
