Editor's Rating
4.8?
Discovered on 2018-06-27

Prevent your dog from choking on his favorite treat with the Bully Buddy Bully Stick Safety Device. Designed to maximize safety, this device lets your dog chew on bully sticks without choking on the end piece. Moreover, the Bully Buddy keeps your dog safely occupied with a bully stick for hours. It also encourages good chewing behavior and mental stimulation. Featuring a secure clamp, the Bully Buddy tightly grips the bully stick with one-way teeth in three places. Once the inner grip is locked in, it won’t let go of the bully stick. Just twist the adjustable collar to lock it down and untwist to release. Made from durable rubber, the device is just right for dog’s gums and teeth. Likewise, the rounded rubber end encourages engagement and manipulation. Dishwasher safe, the Bully Buddy comes in two sizes. The BB1 is suitable for dogs from 10 to 25lbs. while the BB2 is for dogs 25 – 70lbs.

Hi again! Sorry for the delay in replying — had my hands full the last couple of days. I really love how you’re eager to develop more products and that you are hearing everyone’s feedback. It’s truly wonderful! I’d be very happy to help beta test and/or review any upcoming products if you ever need volunteers (I have 20 years of experience!). :-) Will will absolutely send that e-mail — I’m sort of up late and going to bed now, but hopefully I’ll be able to at some point tomorrow. Thanks so much for connecting me with the best person to speak with. Take care!

Hi Sally! Yes! Our bully sticks are hand selected and sized to fit each Bully Buddy allowing us to guarantee the safety of your pet while using the product. The version you see in the videos here is best suited for dogs size 10-25 lbs, so the bully sticks are sized with that in mind. That being said by the time these orders are fulfilled we will also have our Bully Buddy 2 ready to ship for dogs up to 70lbs and we will have sticks that are sized for that version as well!

Hi Marsha! Sorry to hear about your pups allergies! We know that finding healthy treats on top of having dietary restrictions can be tough! The BB2 is still in design, but the plan is to have a whole family that will accommodate all sizes (jumbo included) as well as different types of chews. We also plan to use lightweight, durable material that is suited for power chewers. That way dogs that are larger in size and dogs that may be small, but are mighty powerful chewers can enjoy the product all the same. We will keep you updated on this design as we develop it. If you'd like to sign up for our email list, that is also a great way to stay up to date on the Bully Buddy launch as well as our future product launches! You can do that with one click on our website at bowwowlabs.com/pages/email-subscribe As for partnering with organizations like K94life that is absolutely something we do and we would love to get connected to them. Would you mind sending an email to our Marketing Communications Manager Brittany at brandolph@bowwowlabs.com to discuss the relationship further? We would love to chat about it! Thank you for your thoughtful comments, we are so happy to have supporters like you!

That’s wonderful! I saw your smaller version on Amazon a while back, and I was totally bummed that there wasn’t a larger version. Of course, this happened before I brought my service dog home from his Cochranville, PA-based organization (www.k94life.org — they are always looking for donors, partners, and volunteers if your company does that sort of thing — tell them Hughie and I sent you!). During our Team Training, we were told that antlers and bully sticks would be the only natural chews that we could give our pups because they pose little to no chocking risk beyond the nubs that eventually are left. I was so excited to try bully sticks, but I never got the chance since Hughie developed MAJOR allergies soon after arriving home with me (a 300 is extreme on the blood work, and he scored 1500-2000 on many allergens). Since it seems most Bully sticks are made from cow beef, he can’t have them. Bummer! I wish they’d make bully sticks from other animals that Hughie isn’t allergic to — or least I haven’t found anything other than beef or nondescript pizzle. Out of curiosity, how large of an item can the Bully Buddy 2 grip? What’s the inner diameter? I’m wondering if it might be wide enough to grab a split large-jumbo antler. If not, that’s fine — and hopefully you’ll eventually make something that’s with an inner diameter that can grip larger antlers and with the purpose of helping dogs grip those awkwardly shaped, heavy chews. Also, how well does BB2 stand up to a power chewer? I’d hope that the bully stick is more attractive, but on the off-chance that a power chewer dog tries, will the BB2 be able to withstand it? Have you considered making an optional silicone or rubber protective cover available to protect BB2’s grip? Anyway, I look forward to telling CPL and my fellow classmates/handlers about your product. Our service dogs are our lifelines, and their safety/health is a huge priority — anything that promotes that needs to be shared, and I’d be happy to do so!

Hi Marsha! Thank you so much for your note! We are already in the design and production phase for the Bully Buddy 2 which will accommodate dogs up to 70 lbs. That version will be ready to ship when the kickstarter orders are filled so we will be able to send our backers the size that is perfect for their pup! We plan to not only have a family of Bully Buddies, but Bow Wow Labs will also be producing many other products so we will definitely keep your suggestions in mind - they are helpful to growing our business! Thank you!

Such a neat idea! It’s a shame my service dog can’t have bully sticks because of his allergies, but he’s very trustworthy about spitting out even the smallest bits and pieces of his antlers that are too tough to chew/swallow. Nevertheless, there are real choking hazards that most dog owners don’t realize when it comes to giving dogs rawhide, pigs ears, tracheas, and other such parts. Bully sticks and antlers are the safest bet, minus the fact that some dogs try swallowing the pieces when they get too small. That said, I wish this product would also be adjustable enough to accommodate large and jumbo antlers because it would simply make them much easier to hold. Even with Hughie’s ginormous paws (Ruffwear size 3.25 — their biggest show size!), it’s often kind of clumsy to hold his split antlers. You guys need to make two sizes of this product with an adjustable center that grips the chew for the purpose of simply making awkward large/small chews easier to grip — and then change the name to Bite Buddy since it’ll accommodate any jerky, bully stick, antler, and anything else that’s long and narrow. I call dibs on the first one when you make it happen! :-)

My dogs are connoisseurs off bully sticks but they are also connoisseurs of trying to swallow bully sticks when they get down to a small-ish size. This product has allowed me to leave the house during the day and be able to sleep at night without having to worry about them choking to death. They love it, we love it. EVERYONE SHOULD LOVE IT! Happy customer!
