Hi! Soo queestion. I am planning to use these to livestream music festivals. Have you used them before in a cell phone/signal rich environment? Did the quality of the feed degrade or did connectivity issues arise?

Going through the survey, in Question 1, what's the difference between a) Batteries & Quad Charger +$29.99 b) Additional Batteries & Quad Charger +$29.99 and Add on Quad Charger w/ Batteries - For Uni and Pro $25?

Daniel - Your 4K camera will still retain a 4K image capture to card. Monitoring will be in 1080. To ensure the long range distance we must transmit in 1080.

Review from Kickstarter
One more question:
I understand Freecast is only a signal transmitter/receiver right? I mean if I were to upgrade my camera to one that can capture and record in 4K onto an SD card or SSD I would still be able to use Freecast to transmit to my iPad for monitoring in 1080, but the capture and recorded videos in my SD Card or SSD would still be in 4K, right?

Review from Kickstarter
You mentioned the devices allow for 4K signals but is down converted to 1080. I assume this is related to latency issues. You also mentioned that you are concentrating on the current campaign and not considering hardware/firmware upgrades currently. I am OK with the current specifications. I just wanted to know if you have planned for future scalability. Do you foresee a possibility for the existing transmitter to transmit 4K signals to a new receiver?

Awesome. I'll hold off for now and check back on the 4th and see where it's at. I think the products awesome, and for live broadcasting it has everything you need. Right now this is solely gonna be used for focus pulling so my fingers are crossed for that basically zero latency! Cheers for the speedy response as well.

Maixm Levy - We are working to bring down latency via HDMI. In testing we are between 4-6 frames.

Review from Kickstarter
Hi,
I just backed this project as it looked like a great wireless monitoring solution. I only just watched the latency video, and for anything critical like focus pulling or gimble operating it is far to much. I was wondering if this is something you plan on bringing right down (<10Ms) for the HDMI output? I understand with the streaming to iOS devices & live that latency is going to be there, but for HDMI I would of thought it would be better. I realise this project really isn't aimed at me, and it was my mistake for not researching before backing but at it's current stage the latency is far to much for what I need so i'll have to back-out if this is something that's not in the pipeline.

Marsha Tyszler -  The Kickstarter has shown us that our backers are most interested in our Universal Kit, so for now we’ll be focusing our energy into making our flagship product the best it can possibly be.  At the same time, we’re definitely always thinking about our road map for future products. For example, we’ve gotten great feedback from people that want a more professional version of the Universal that has SDI/BNC, which we’ve been exploring with our manufacturers. That said, our product roadmap is at a very early stage, and we can’t say for certain when we’ll be releasing new products (or the price point for such products) as our focus has been on the current offerings. Our devices do allow for a 4K signal, but down converts it to 1080. As far as the other features you mentioned, it’s again part of our R&D and product development process, and it’s difficult to say when or if we’ll offer these solutions in the future. We are working with our manufacturers on other devices, including a live switcher. We are showcasing the switcher at our NAB booth, but this are very early prototype that we’re still testing and validating. Again, we have no exact roadmap for these products release. Great idea on the GoPro case, it’s definitely possible for us to offer this as an accessory in the future. Thanks so much for your support, we love hearing from you and can’t wait for you to try Freecast!

For us GoPro users...Lifeproof makes a series of mounts called Lifeactiv...I've found them to be really useful for Mounting the GoPro and the Fly360 cams. Go search eBay for just the plate and round mount.... think that might be a good workaround..the Hero5 dive case might work or just a flat back on the skeleton case. Just an FYI...I think they're phasing out the Lifeactiv line so pick em up on eBay now. Once you see it I think you'll understand.

Thanks SO much for taking the time to answer my q's! :-) I watched the live stream back, and the vids on your YouTube channel -- looks like people were pretty interested! I'm curious about what you have planned in the near future too. You've alluded to some other devices and/or accessories coming soon in the campaign and some of the conversations I heard at the convention. I just want to be sure whether the current universal version of the FREECAST system is right for my needs or if it's better to hold off a bit for whatever you have coming soon. Do you know when you're planning on releasing details for the other equipment you're working on (as well as expected price point range)? Do you think you'll be able to offer 4k support, higher frame rates, multiple transmitters that can switch between several vantage points, and more "pro" features like that? Btw, any plans to make a GoPro case that fits with the universal system? I think it would be pretty handy! Overall, you have a really amazing concept here that's going to be amazing for making it possible for many more people to obtain access to equipment for casting, monitoring, etc. without selling their limbs. It's gonna be an awesome ride, and I'm glad to be along for it!

Jonathan Elias - Thanks for joining our live stream today! Hope we answered your question there, but for anyone else reading, the Professional version does not support the GoPro5 because the casing does not fit. Someone enterprising could try to cut up the casing of our transmitter and make their own rig somehow, but we definitely don't recommend that. To answer your second question, all of our devices have a standard quarter inch screw thread in the back, allowing you to connect your transmitter or receiver to mounts, tripods, and any gear that you can screw Freecast on.

Patrick Lynn - You're correct, our Standard and Professional versions only work with GoPro 3 and 4, but our Universal works with any HDMI camera, including the GoPro 5. Check out our "Compare Models" section in the Kickstarter for all the differences between our models, and let us know if you have any other questions. Feel free to change your pledge, and thanks for your support!

Marsha Tyszler - You have asked many questions, I will do my best to answer. Camera types
- There is a demo on our site connecting to a GoPro Hero 4.
- If the camera have HDMI out you can connect to them via the universal. Legacy Cameras
- We initially developed the Freecast for the Hero 4.
- The Kickstarter has shown us that the Universal is our number one seller, and will eventually be our main device. Streaming Networks
- We are working on Periscope, Instagram, UStream, Livestream, & Twitch.
- Your analytics and comments would still be enabled through the platform of choice.
- Each network will show or save your previous posts per your settings.
- Currently we only support using our application to be the portal to your social network. Upgrading
- We do not plan to upgrade our current devices, and currently do not plan to offer hardware upgrades. Our price point has been kept low in order to make our devices available for all content creators.
- If we do release new products within this line within the first year of release, we will offer an Upgrade to our backers.

Jonathan Elias - If we missed an email from you we apologize. The standard comes with an enternal battery. The Pro and Universal does not include batteries, but we will be selling them for under $20 as an add-on item. Due to internal shipping regulations for Lithium Ion batteries we could not include them.

I have sent out about 5/6 emails asking if batteries will be included after your email response was "Batteries will be available for sale as an ad-on item." My additional emails that I have sent over and over again have asked: with your backing of Standard/Professional & Universal kits do we get batteries and chargers with our orders as well or do have to purchase those additionally because our kits do not even come with them? Thanks.

So if I want to use this with the upcoming 2020Cam (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2020cam/2020-vision-ultra-high-end-4k-action-camera-sports), MokaCam, and possibly other VR cams, I would need the universal kit? How easy is it to attach FreeCast to various types of cameras? (Do you have a setup video demo somewhere?) Just gotta ask out of sheer curiosity, lol -- why did you guys make a special kit for older cameras . . . and not just 1, but 2 of them?! I know people still may be using them, but aren't the chances that someone who'd want Freecast would be using the latest cams? I'm just trying to understand the logic of developing 2 totally separate kits for legacy Heros. ;-) I need to ask if Periscope is definitely in your pipeline, as I use that most often. I've been wanting to broadcast to other networks like YouTube and Facebook, but Periscope is definitely most important to me at this time. Also, on any social network, do all features like commenting and broadcast metrics work? Will my casts be visible on each social networks' cloud/history as though I had broadcasted from there directly if I were to login to each individual account? And could we ever connect directly to any supported or unsupported social network itself, or must we always use the Freecast app? (Like can I use Periscope producer until you get it integrated into your own app?) If we want to use additional cameras to broadcast in the future, will it be possible to add to our base kits? If you guys ever upgrade hardware features in the not-so-distant future, will we possibly be able to upgrade our kits' via firmware updates and/or hardware updates (like if we mailed them back)? Or will you offer a trade-in program in the future? As early adopters, we take a risk, and it would be amazing to know that we could always have the latest features. Please think about it! Thanks so much!

Patrick Lynn - Please take a look at our caparison chart. Standard and Professional only work with GoPro Hero 3 & 4. The big difference between the two is that the pro has a metal casing and lcd screen that shows you channel selection and battery life as well as a confirmation everything is linked. The Universal will work with all go pro's and any hdmi camera.

Would love to know how much compression on the output signal there is. I guess what I'm asking is if I send the signal from a pro camera to a monitor / recorder (Odyssey, Atomos) will the file be useable? I see that it only send up to 1080p/60.

As much as I am interested in this, I'm also very concerned about this project. You claim that you designed this item and that it took you several years, yet the company Crystal Video (CVW) in China has been showing this exact item with the exact same name at several trade shows since at least 2016. I feel that you are misleading backers here and that you’re only sharing part of the story. Proof: https://www.facebook.com/crystalvideowireless/
Proof: http://www.inter-bee.com/en/forvisitors/exhibitor_info/detail.php… Can you kindly respond to my following questions: 1. Are you a US representative or importer for the Chinese CVW company? 2. How will you process broken units? Will they be shipped to China first and then back to the States? Who will pay for shipping and what will the turn around time be? 3. Is your team developing the software and firmware updates and putting them out to the public or will we be waiting on the CVW team in China to do so? 4. Since this is not a wholly owned product by your company, can you give your backers any guarantee that CVW will not simply stop selling the product through you or discontinue the product without notice? Or do you have an exclusive agreement with CVW for this product? If so, for how long? I look forward to your response! Thank you.
