Get a full view of the road around you with the Argus FHD Smart Rearview Mirror. This device uses a built-in camera to finally get rid of blind spots. The Argus FHD is a full-screen display mirror. It’s as big and wide as possible to give you a clear view of both sides of your vehicle. In addition, it’s small enough to not obstruct your view through the windshield. The Argus FHD also converts to an 8.88-inch LCD screen and works with the included 180-degree camera. The camera offers multiple view modes to cater your view for far views, backing up, and even at night. The buttons on the front also allow you to adjust the brightness between high, medium, and low. Incredible, the Argus FHD Mirror lets you see four lanes at once. With all of this information, you can drive safely and with total peace of mind.

Dear Backers, Firstly, a big thank you to all for giving such incredible support throughout the campaign! Especially to KB and David, Argus couldn't have gone this far without you! Since it was Argus first time on KS, there were definitely some inadequacy and improvements that could be done. Therefore, due to the unfamiliarity of KS platform and rules, regretfully we've decided to cancel this project for now in order to prepare a relaunch in early August so that more content can be shared and more audience can be reached! So please keep following us and see you very soon! Best Regards,
Argus Team

Sorry it didn't pan out KB. I bought 3 units but still that was not enough to move the dial. Both of us have been trying to get our hands on one of these for a long time and it looks like Argus won't make it either. Hopefully, next time. Argus, please come back and give the KS community another shot.

Do you see any issues mounting this camera on a Honda Pilot hatch door? Will opening and slamming shut the rear hatch cause the camera to move or will the mounting bracket hold fast so that the view does not change in the rear view mirror? Thanks

Argus, by the way, I love the new video. I always wondered what the view would look like with rain on the back window snd this video illustrates that well. Thank you and good luck achieving your goal today.

KB, I first noticed you on KS back when you were trying to pledge for the Perigon rear view mirror. You snd I both left messages for Perigon for months after it was over and not funded without any response. So, when this project started I actually notified you on Perigon to let you know that this Argus KS had materialized. That said, neither KB or myself have any ties to either company thus the reason I'm not following Robs rant. Hopefully KS will get involved and tell those who don't have a life to keep their thoughts and opinions to them self until they get the facts straight. KS can contact me any time that they desire for the facts.

Dear Mr. Giles, It is our first time on KS and Argus truly apologize if our backers have been too supportive about our project thus perhaps mistakenly violated any sort of community guidelines! Please kindly understand and we shall definitely remind our backers to follow such provisions. Thank you!

I am looking for a solution that has a camera mounted forwards (above the front passenger seat, in order to quickly decide whether overtaking is safe (view of side back and side front simultaneously). Would you offer to relaunch such a feature?

Review from Kickstarter
Hi David~ Argus definitely appreciate all the backers' support and pledges, and comprehend that your referrals and comments will be the key to popularize our product everywhere else! However, please kindly understand that Argus is not Perigon. Our product specifications, components, process, performance, accessories, etc., far preceded and thus inevitably at higher cost for manufacturing. FHD screen alone is at least 40% more expensive than that of any HD display panel, not to mention the FHD camera that can provide 180° and multiple view modes at same time must use customized lens and algorithmic technologies. Therefore, the rewards offered on KS have reflected our sincerity at nearly 50% discounted of what Argus will offer to the general market after its mass production in October. As you might have already seen Gentex HD in the market offering at US$1199, Argus FHD is only 1/4 of its price on KS!

Hi all~ Argus truly understands your concerns and our method of replacing the traditional mirror is simple and always reversible! If you haven't checked out the video inside "Updates" section, please do! The process doesn't harm or damage your car, since the key is the metal clip on windshield window that won't be teared down. Thus you may always clip back the traditional mirror when you want to resell or return leased car.

Review from Kickstarter
Hi Ibby~ Thank you for your comments and suggestions. Argus shall take into consideration for any possible improvements! In response to your comments, firstly, Argus is a completely different concept and design from those rear camera systems that you had referred to as “widely available in the market”. If Argus is similar to that, then there would be no point for launching a campaign in KS and senseless for advanced backers to even consider pledging. Argus is a safety assistance product which is designed and built to conform with original car makers' specifications and requirement. All the components and testing procedures follow stringent industrial and automotive grade. If you have a chance to see the new rear view mirror inside Cadillac XT5 or CT6, or even Gentex Full Display Mirror System, then you might understand that Argus is similar to those but different from the “$100, China-made, look-alike, rear camera systems" that you may find on Amazon or eBay. Gentex system is even priced at a retail of US$1199 for single viewing angle, not because of the high profit that it tries to exploit from consumers, but simply because of its differences in design complexity and parts used as well as image performance. It's like Apple iPhone, Sony, HTC, or Xiaomi may all be smartphones, but why pricing varies so much? The purpose of conventional rear view mirror is to see what's behind the vehicle no matter for lane changing during fast speed or parking and backing-up during slow speed. Common rear camera systems may be good enough to use while "backing up under slow speed" BUT unable to use while fast driving due to image lagging and lack of clarity. Accidents may very well happen in split of a second, thus image delay simply cannot be accepted when using display type of rear view mirror in lieu of the traditional mirror. No matter Cadillac, Gentex, or Argus, customize its processor, screen resolution, and camera angles that out-surpass those of $100 systems for complete safety assurance. And even amongst the top solution providers, Argus is the only one providing true FHD screen and FHD camera as it requires cutting-edge technology to achieve. Seeing is believing! The videos truly cannot demonstrate or reflect Argus performance. We highly recommend you to try and compare for yourself!

Argus, Remember that your pledgers are part of your sales team. If they love the product they will tell their friends and family members and spread the word. So if you need to offer your product to KS pledgers at a discounted price, maybe you could right off the sales as advertisement because it's exactly what we are. Example: I bought the KS ONE80 headlamp and sold over 300+ of them after I purchased my original 4. Think about that.

Review from Kickstarter
KB, I'll take 3 units at $199 like I pledged on the Perigon KS. Argus, you can do this in a few, outside the box, ways. You could lower the price like KB suggested to $199 for a single unit but you also need to offer a 2 and 3 unit package as well. One thing I have never been able to figure out with KS creators is they go up on the price the more units one buys. It seems that if you buy more than 1 unit that the overall price of each unit would go down. Think about that. Also, you could sell these on you website but offer you KS pledgers a code that's good for up to 3 units. Make pledgers an offer that they can't refuse. If you offer it, they will come. Good luck on you decision.

I agree that replacing the rear view mirror is a bit too much for me - I don't want to ruined the original car!
Ibby
Review from Kickstarter
While I agree that this is a great product, the reality is that you're charging too much for an item that is widely available in the market for a fraction of the price. I agree that Argus has features that other camera systems don't have, it doesn't justify the 300% price increase as compared to comparable items on the market. I currently have a full screen rear view mirror with the multi camera angle capability that I paid $100 USD for. The only difference being the wider angle HD camera that Argus offers. Please consider reevaluating your pricing structure. Having worked in the manufacturing industry, I have a good understanding of the production costs and profit margins on a profit like this. Make the price point more attractive to buyers and you'll hit your funding goal in no time. On a side note, I also believe it's important to offer an option to mount the screen on your dash or windshield instead of replacing the rear view mirror. I don't intend on replacing any mirrors on my leased company car. Kindly advise your thoughts on this.

Why is it that I would think something like this would be selling like hot cakes but it's not? Anything that helps people drive safer, to me, would be worth investing in. On the road, it's life or death and every second counts. I'm a defensive driver, maybe that's what it is. KB help me out here...

Hi David~ Thanks for liking our videos! We will upload videos on the current method of wiring and camera mounting in the next couple of days. For your suggestion on rear window inside mount, our mechanical designer will try during the following week to see its feasibility. As for the auto light sensor, we apologize that it cannot be done now since our board design has pretty much been fixed. Frankly speaking, we have tested on the roads for over 6 months, normally we would only need to manually adjust for the nighttime if preferred less eye-dazzling. Otherwise for most of the time, staying on "HI" brightness level worked perfectly during any condition.

I like the new mirror installation video but can you go a little further and illustrate camera and wiring installation as well? I need to know how difficult this installation will be so that I can determine whether I will be able to perform the installation or have it done by a pro. Also, no word on the auto light sensor mentioned below?? If it's something that can be done, I'd be willing to wait longer to receive my items to have it included. As for the new video, I noticed that you are using a Phillips head screw to mount the new mirror. You may want to rethink that and make it a Hex or Torx bit instead. Either will hold better, be harder to strip and can be torqued down tighter. Just my 2 cents. Thanks

Hi all~ Thanks for all the suggestions and comments. We are discussing internally now to see if any of these are feasible and within Sep delivery schedule. We shall get back to you asap. @Kit - About replacing the original rearview mirror issue, you can always change it back when you've decide to resell your car. No matter the original mirror hinge or the new display mirror hinge, it is actually a clip-on to a metal base that's glued to the window. So it is very simple to interchange as long as you keep the original mirror for future use. We shall upload part of the installation video inside the "Update Section" to show you how it works~

Will there be an auto sensor built into the mirror that detects lighting conditions like whether it's day or night and adjust the mirrors lighting accordingly or will it have to be manually adjusted every time by the driver? Thanks

Will you considering a rear window inside mount that adheres or mounts to the rear glass keeping the camera out of the elements? Thanks

Review from Kickstarter
Hi Kit~ Thanks for supporting our project! As per your questions, please kindly see below: 1. The camera can be mounted anywhere preferred near license plate, trunk open switch, or even underneath the spoiler. Yes, you will need to drill holes if using metal clip. However, we did do some experiments using super adhesive double-sided tape to secure the clip, and it seems that even through rain or shine and without screws can be tightly fastened. Also, we are preparing another "without drilling" mounting option by securing the camera to a license plate holder. However, that won't be a standard pack option as there will be added cost. We will try to post some photos of different installing methods for your reference. 2. Yes, with our current design, you will need to replace the original rear-view mirror inside your car. We have a proprietary hinge for every car model in order to withstand the display mirror's weight. Reason is that the original mirror hinge won't be strong enough to hold any display mirror without having to bow head when under shaking drive. But if your worry is about having to go back and use the traditional mirror view occasionally, our conventional mirror performance is even better at a larger size!

Hi David~ Thanks for supprting our project! We will be shipping internationally from Taiwan to US, and the rate for couriers like UPS/Fedex will cost around US$150/set. Thus we will be using EMS instead, which will be around US$70/set. Since we cannot afford to bear all the shipping cost, thus we have offered a 40% discounted rate, charging US$40/set only. For your 2 sets, it should be US$80, but we offered slightly more discount for duo backers as a token of appreciation, thus only charging US$70.
