Sony ECM-AX10 Spatial Audio Microphone for Smartphones: Overview
The Sony ECM-AX10 is a pocket-size microphone that plugs into your smartphone’s USB-C port and records spatial audio, so viewers hear sound from around the whole scene.
- Four-capsule spatial capture: Four omnidirectional capsules record the direction of each sound, not only its level.
- Three recording modes: Pick Ambisonics for spatial playback on YouTube with Eclipsa Audio, binaural for listeners on other platforms, or regular stereo.
- Clearer sound outdoors: Noise-cut and low-cut filters and the included furry windscreen reduce background and wind noise for clearer recordings.
- Live monitoring: A 3.5mm headphone jack lets you hear the spatial mix while you shoot. Plus, the ATT switch cuts input by 10 or 20 dB for loud scenes.
- Pocket-ready build: At about 0.85 oz, it fits in a pocket. The Sony Spatial Audio Video Tool app handles shooting, edits, and export.
