Sony ECM-W5 Wireless Microphone Kit: Overview
The Sony ECM-W5 Wireless Microphone Kit pairs two clip-on mics with one receiver, so you can record clean, high-resolution audio for video on Sony cameras, phones, and PCs.
- Ready out of the case: Opening the charging case puts the receiver on standby, so you just pull out the units and record.
- 32-bit float recording: At 48 kHz, quiet voices and sudden peaks stay intact. As a result, you set levels in editing instead of on set.
- Audio inside the video file: On a compatible Sony camera’s MI Shoe, up to four channels go straight into the video. So, there is nothing to sync later.
- Backup and range: Each mic also records to its own storage in case the signal drops. Plus, the link reaches up to 1,640 feet in line of sight.
- Flexible inputs: A 3.5 mm jack on each unit takes lavalier mics, and Bluetooth LE Audio headphones handle monitoring.
For Sony shooters who want reliable wireless sound with less post-production work, the ECM-W5 is worth a close look.
