Sticking to the format, does smart swab really work?

brad_mt Mar 26

Has anyone out there actually used those smart swabs or any of those swirly-twirly ear cleaners long enough to know if they're actually safe, or are we all just blindly shoving plastic corkscrews into our ear canals and hoping for the best?

Because every time someone tries to "revolutionize" ear cleaning it ends up being some weird tool that either pushes the wax deeper or feels like it was designed by someone who’s never had a human ear. And don't even come at me with those tiny robot camera thingies. Hard pass. I don't need a live stream of my eardrum, thanks.

I lost at the comment about the live stream 🤣 🤣 🤣

Didn't use a smart swab tho, it kinda creeps me out. But I guess it might be the same as the usual ear stick cleaners that we use. Idk, might give it a try

Alright Brad here’s the deal, I’ve seen those Smart Swabs and similar “innovative” ear cleaners and I’ve got the same skepticism. They always market them like they’ve cracked the code on ear hygiene but in reality it’s just another way to spiral wax around and hope it doesn’t get lodged deeper

I mean let’s be real, ear canals are self-cleaning to a point and jamming a plastic corkscrew in there sounds like a DIY way to end up Googling how to remove earwax without a trip to urgent care.

Also I’m 100 percent with you on the camera gadgets. Nobody needs a personal IMAX screening of their eardrum. Some things are better left unseen 🤣

If you’re set on cleaning your ears warm water in the shower and a soft towel usually do the trick for me. Or you know, go old school with a few drops of oil and let nature do its thing. But hey if someone out there has had life-changing results with a Smart Swab, I’d love to hear it preferably without an ER horror story attached.

@cody-walker but I feel like nature is not doing it's job properly here. you don't wanna end up being known as the full-of-earwax guy

Brad, I get the curiosity because who doesn’t want a better way to clean their ears, right? But every time a new “genius” ear-cleaning gadget drops, it’s like they forgot how ears actually work.

Smart Swab looks cool in theory, but let’s be real, twisting something into your ear and hoping it only pulls wax out feels like a gamble. And the fact that they never show what happens if you twist it the wrong way? Suspicious.

Also, what’s with ear-cleaning tools acting like they’re reinventing hygiene? If Smart Swab was truly a game-changer, wouldn’t doctors be recommending it instead of saying, “Please stop putting things in your ears”?
