🤔 Is It Worth It?

Debate the value of the latest gadgets and whether they truly live up to the hype.

Can anyone who owns the Nothing Ear vouch for the microphone quality?

Chad M. Jun 16

Hey everyone!

I've been eyeing the Nothing Earbuds for a while now. They look fantastic but most of the reviews I've seen only talk about sound quality and noise isolation. I'm on calls all day though, and I need earbuds with great microphones so I don't have to swap devices mid-meeting.

Has anyone used them for call heavy days? How do the mics hold up?

I've been thinking about grabbing a pair myself and so I'm also curious what actual users have to say.

In the meantime here's what I've found. Overall, the Nothing Ear earbuds' microphones get solid marks for clarity, especially on the 2024 model, and they do a great job on calls.

Some say in really busy places you might hear some background noise, and a few users have had one earbud struggle to pick up their voice, so if that happens, you’d want to reach out to support for a replacement.

All in all the mic performance is good, but just keep in mind there can be the occasional hiccup.

@jiro I've got impression that people complain more about the latency. Especially if you have an iphone and been using airpods, you might feel the audio delay. But overall it's a good choice. And it looks awesome. I think I'm gonna buy it either way so I'll let you know soon.

@brad_mt I use it for a month now. I noticed it once and switched the Low‑Lag Mode on  Nothing X app. It reduces the delay significantly. I haven't noticed any delay ever since.

Alright, I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting to have strong opinions about earbud mics, but these actually surprised me. The call quality has been solid so far that I don’t feel like I need to yell to be heard, even when I’m walking outdoors or near traffic. People on the other end haven’t complained, which is usually a good sign. Comfort-wise, they sit pretty well for long stretches without feeling invasive, and I’ve definitely had a few “oh right, I’m still wearing these” moments. Are they perfect? Maybe not, but for casual calls, voice notes, and everyday use, I’ve been more than comfortable and honestly kind of impressed. 🙂

I bought the Nothing Ear. Generally, I'm happy with the purchase--the design is killer and the mics are fine for work calls. But, if you need them for studio-quality sound, like for content creation, I'd look for something specifically for that purpose.

Hey! I haven’t personally used the Nothing Earbuds, but I’ve read through a ton of user reviews and test feedback, and I’d say the call quality is a mixed bag. They seem to do a decent job in quiet environments, like a home office. Most users report that their voice comes through clearly enough for Zoom or quick check-ins. But if you're in a noisier setting, like a café or walking outdoors, the mics tend to struggle. A lot of users mention issues with muffled audio or background noise leaking in. So if you’re on calls all day in different environments, you might want to consider something more reliable, like Jabra or AirPods Pro.

yeah it's pretty and all but it's not like significantly cheaper than AirPods. but definitely go for it if you're thinking of getting the Nothing phone too
