Atelier Teratoma Backpack Upgrades The Picnic Experience
Picnics have been around for thousands of years. The experience is a symbol of teams, families and fun. Like most people, you’re probably still using the traditional basket to carry food and other outdoor accessories.
Atelier Teratoma hopes to change all that by offering a new take on the iconic picnic gear by turning the piece into an astronaut backpack.
It Comes With Digital Features
The picnic basket of the future is filled with features that you rely on daily. First it includes USB charging ports for your smartphone and other digital devices. There are also speakers built into the back of the bag that point outwards. With that you can listen to your favorite tunes while entertaining guests. For easy communication, there is a panel that allows you to connect to the monitor and reach your nearby friends.
Overall, the picnic basket looks very minimal. All the useful parts are strategically placed around the accessory to maximize accessibility.
Still Packed With Picnic Essentials
The Atelier Teratoma picnic backpack also comes with a handful of essentials that you would normally use during outdoor events. It comes with two pillows and two chairs. Two cup holders can be found on the lower compartment of the picnic basket. Because the bag is filled with digital features, there are two stands that can be activated to prop the basket upright. This turns the bag into a table.
What’s The Story Behind This Picnic Device?
“Traditionally the picnic is associated with the search of natural environments to share a meal. But what happens when we bring this idea to a context defined by hard pavements, congestion and new ways of communication? We believe that today the natural setting for a picnic should be the epicenter of the city: the square,” said Eugenio Fernandez and Victor Nouman, designers of the upbeat picnic backpack.
