Anyone familiar with Amazon’s earlier venture into the 4K smart TV market knows it left a lot to be desired. They were affordable, which was a plus. However, they didn’t bring the quality you’d expect to see from the big companies attached to manufacturing. Recently, Amazon announced its new self-branded line of TV products: Amazon Fire 4K smart TVs.

There are two separate series: the Fire TV Omni Series and the Fire TV 4-Series. The Omni Series is the better of the two, while the 4-Series is the most budget-friendly. Are they actually any good? Should you buy them? Let’s take a closer look at these shiny new displays, shall we?

Amazon Fire TV Omni Series

Th Omni Series lineup includes the following sizes: 43 inches, 50 inches, 55 inches, 65 inches, and 75 inches. Prices range from $409.99 to $1,099.99. The new TVs use LED panels and have 4K resolutions, which can handle HDR10 (High Dynamic Range) and HLG.

The 65- and 75-inch models offer support for Dolby Vision HDR. They have 4 HDMI ports with one that’s compatible with eARC like audio/video devices. Also featured is support for VRR and higher refresh rates. They can even do Dolby Digital Plus audio too.

Amazon Fire TV 4-Series

The 4-Series lineup has many of the same features as the Omni Series, minus things like Dolby Vision HDR. The sizes for the 4-Series are 43 inches, 50 inches, and 55 inches.

Prices for these three models range from $369.99 to $519.99. This should provide some budget-friendlier options for those looking to swing below the price points of the Omni Series. The differences aren’t too drastic, however.

Should you buy Amazon’s new 4K TVs?

Amazon clearly has learned from past mistakes after its earlier attempt. The new Fire 4K TVs are definitely an improvement from last time and offer a better experience.

For example, the inclusion of more smart features, as well as Alexa support, are welcome additions. If you’re already invested in the Amazon ecosystem and want a TV that integrates into that more directly, these are worth your consideration.

Similarly, if you’re looking for a solid smart TV with plenty of affordability, these may be what you’re looking for. They don’t exactly blow the competition out of the water, given the wide array of displays on the market, but they certainly shouldn’t be overlooked either—especially for Amazon fans.

The Amazon 4K smart TVs are available for preorder on Amazon or at Best Buy.
