Laptops are there a many but 2020 seems like a whole new year for them. From 2-in-1 touchscreens to 360-degree hinge designs, the laptops we saw at CES 2020 simply blew our minds. Some of them are still concepts but overall, this has been quite a pleasant year at CES for laptops.
There was a time when working full-time with just a laptop seemed too far-fetched. But that seems like the Stone Age right now because laptops are now the go-to machines people use for maximum work productivity. Considering CES 2020 had so much more to offer with futuristic laptop designs, we think it’s only going to get smarter and better over time.
So, what do these futuristic laptops look like? Some have foldable screens, some have a 360-degree hinge design, whereas some others come with a full-width secondary touchscreen.
If that isn’t enough, there are designs with built-in Tile trackers to make sure you never lose them.
Dell 2020 XPS 13 Lightweight Laptop
This compact, ultra-thin device now has an integrated infrared camera designed for Windows Hello. Plus, while its webcam is actually 2.5-millimeters smaller, it uses a four-element lens. So this lightweight computer provides crisp images and reduces outside noise. Constructed with precision from top to bottom, this Dell laptop has a sleek aluminum chassis for a minimalist look. Not only that, but it also comes in two models: black carbon fiber or white arctic, which uses woven glass fiber.
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga Laptops (2020 Version)
Last updated in August 2019, Lenovo has once again decided to refresh their flagship ThinkPad X1 lineup with the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga Laptops (2020 Version). Similar to the previous models, these laptops also feature Intel’s latest 10th-generation “Ice Lake” processors and up to 16GB of RAM. However, the new models do come with the capacity of having up to 2TB of internal storage. Additionally, the laptops have function keys that can help you start and end a voice-over-IP call quickly.
HP Elite Dragonfly G2 Laptop
Designed primarily for those working on the go, the new HP Elite Dragonfly G2 Laptop goes one step further with 5G connectivity and Tile tracking. So, you can easily locate your laptop if you misplace it with the Tile app. The 5G connectivity is currently only with Sprint with more carriers to join the network in the coming days. What makes this laptop worth a try is an impressively lightweight design that weighs only 2.2 pounds (or about 0.99kg).
Acer Spin 5 2020 Convertible Laptop
Along with updated hardware abilities, the Spin 5 2020 version is a lighter model of its predecessor. In fact, it’s almost a pound lighter than the previous model. Furthermore, the new Acer Spin 5 lets you choose between two of the 10th-generation Intel Ice Lake chips. Operating on Windows 10 Home and offering a maximum of 16-gigabytes of RAM, this convertible laptop is designed to get the job done.
Acer ConceptD 7 Ezel & ConceptD 7 Ezel Pro Swing-Hinge Laptops
These convenient laptops have a swinging hinge. Because of that, you can position them in five different ways: sharing, pad, floating, display, and stand. The hinge on each of these Acer laptops goes across the full length of the computer. In doing so, it adds strength and stability. You can prop it up in a tent-like fashion to display the ConceptD 7 Ezel Pro as a stand, or you can pretend it’s a tablet in pad mode. Lenovo Legion Y740S Slim Gaming Laptop
It might measure 15.6 inches, but the Lenovo Legion Y740S Slim Gaming Laptop is super portable. That’s because this is a lightweight and thin gaming laptop. In fact, the Legion Y740S weighs just 1.7 kilograms—that’s about 3.7 pounds—and is only 14.9 millimeters—about half an inch—thick.
