Echo Look Is Your Intelligent Fashion Guide

Echo Look Is Your Intelligent Fashion Guide

Amazon’s Echo devices have always been very clever. Powered by the Alexa smart assistant, they allow you to ask for information or to control your home with voice commands. Now, Amazon has come up with something new. The Echo Look camera has all the same features, with the addition of perfect selfies and an intelligent fashion guide.

– Hands-free camera blurs the background on full-length selfies

– Style Check feature lets you get a second opinion from fashion experts

– See how you look from every angle with live video streaming on your phone

Intelligent Fashion Guide

On the outside, the Echo Look is a glorified web cam. Of course, you can tell it when to take photos and videos. It can also intelligently blur the background in your full-length selfies — but smartphones can match these features.

What makes the Echo Look impressive is the software. Having synced the device to your phone, you can request fashion advice and even keep a personal look book.

You may wonder how any device can give useful fashion tips. While the Echo Look is largely untested, it has been taught by top fashion experts. The artificial intelligence uses this information to compare outfits with current trends. As more people use the app, it will only get smarter.

You can also use the camera to see your blind spot. As you turn away from the device, you can see a live view of your derrière via your smartphone. Never again will you have to ask “does my bum look big in this?”

Like previous Echo products, the Look has a built-in speaker and microphone. You can use voice commands to control the camera — “Take a video”, for example. Likewise, you can vocally request a weather forecast or adjust your thermostat.

“Style Check keeps your look on point using advanced machine learning algorithms and advice from fashion specialists. Submit two photos for a second opinion on which outfit looks best on you based on fit, color, styling, and current trends.” – Amazon.com

What We ❤️

Being able to ask for a second opinion should prevent fashion disasters. You can also check to see whether you have toothpaste on the back of your shirt…or is that just me?

Room for Improvement

The Echo Look will set you back nearly $200. That’s a lot of money for a camera and 4 LED lights. You can also bet your bottom dollar that Amazon will collect information on your fashion sense at some point.

Availability

The Amazon Echo Look is available “by invitation” at the moment, priced at $199.99. In other words, Amazon is picking out a select few who have expressed an interest.

You can put your name on the list via Amazon’s website; a wider release date has yet to be announced.
