A Nintendo-themed instax printer is here
Fujifilm and Nintendo have collaborated to create a Switch-themed version of the mini Link printer, with complementing colors and even a Pikachu case, as well as the instax mini Link for Nintendo Switch app that lets you print screenshots or videos recorded from your Nintendo Switch. Discover more in today's blog.
This entire new concept lets you bring games from your Nintendo Switch and bring them to life in printouts. This new Nintendo-themed instax printer uses a Bluetooth connection with a smartphone via a dedicated app, instax mini Link for Nintendo Switch, to produce a high-quality printout of an image from your smartphone. Grab a screenshot of your favorite moment from a game, choose from different character designs, and select a frame to print. All of which can be done through the Nintendo-themed app.
Available themes in the free app
The new instax mini Link for Nintendo Switch app comes with three themes: Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Super Mario, and New Pokémon Snap. Additionally, the app includes 59 frames, including characters from these three games. That’s an additional 23 frames than the current Link app, so you can get more creative with your printouts. These frames allow you to choose a layout that best suits your image. With your printouts, you can create a journal, send a personalized note to a friend (on the blank space underneath the printout), or keep a scrapbook of your top gaming moments. The options are endless.
How does the dedicated app work?
To take screenshots of your gaming device’s screen, you’ll need to scan a QR code from your Nintendo Switch. This displays automatically once you’ve taken your screenshot. Then, launch the instax mini Link for Nintendo Switch app on your smartphone and press the “Switch Direct Print” button to scan the QR code that connects your smartphone to the Nintendo Switch. Transfer your chosen image to the app, and it’ll display the themes and frames we mentioned earlier. The app will then automatically switch to the Print screen for the finalized version.
Is the printing hardware any different than the Instax Mini Link?
No. The printer’s hardware is the same as the previous instax mini Link, although it comes with a Switch-inspired red and blue trim and is available in Ash White. There’s even a specially designed silicone case featuring Pikachu (which is only available with the special bundle kit). Not only is this case adorable, but it also protects your mini Link while storing it in your bag.
Overall, this Nintendo-themed instax printer will be released on April 30, and you can visit the official website for more information. Does this app update excite the gamer in you? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
