NUA Smart Carry On Suitcase Follows You Around

We’ve all been there. Freshly checked over by security with your shoes off, jacket hanging on your arm, and your carry on dishevelled. As you repack your bag you realize the time and forgo your shoes and jacket and resort to dragging your two-wheeled bag on any and all sides helping you make it to your gate. And then you can’t find your ticket. Frantically checking your pockets, your carry on has hit more walls and kids than probably appropriate – not quite the holiday experience you had planned. The NUA Smart Carry On is a super intelligent carry on sized robotic travel bag. Using clever technology, this case actually follows you around, keeping your hands completely free to find your ticket or sip your coffee. Incredibly, it actually knows where it’s going.

Looking more like a cooler and equipped with a smart camera, sensors, and pairing to your device with an app, the NUA Smart Carry On is able to determine your location and, using the built in motor, stay by your side as you walk through the airport. The app send you alerts about the weight and location by allowing you to reversely track the suitcase so it can never be misplaced. The NUA Smart Carry On is so smart that it can even use its high tech sensors to navigate around objects such as furniture, other suitcases, and even your fellow travellers.

When the battery is low, simply pull the bag as you would a traditional, four-wheeled suitcase with the telescopic handle and the battery will charge itself. The NUA Smart Carry On has a convenient USB port to also charge your devices on the go while the anti-theft alarm system makes sure it’s always at your side like a trusty companion.

Although still in the prototype testing state, the first product from NUA Robotics is quite the feat. The smart app sends a unique signal to only your case and they recognise each other, eliminating the risk of being followed by someone else’s suitcase. The current travel speed, according to founder Alex Libman, is “slow medium” and the team will soon decide what a safe speed would be. Libman says they do have the technology to go virtually any speed which could make your sprint to your gate even faster.

It took us decades to add two wheels to our suitcases and years after that to make it four. The NUA Smart Carry On has sped up our rate of suitcase evolution by powering these four wheels with super smart technology.
