Hi, my autopi doesn't seem to connect through the sim card anymore, it worked for about half an hour and then lost the connection. I've tried the sim card in a phone and it works. I can connect to the wifi, are there any commands I could send locally to find the problem

Did any of the 1st batch receive the device? According to KS there are 50 people in first batch. But I can't find any videos or articles from people who got it and did an unboxing or review?

Hi Andy,
I have sent a response to the email you sent us, and the bottomline is that everything should be operational. The password reset functionality will tell you that an email has been sent, even if no account was found, this is security best practice to not leak information about which accounts exists. I have updated the notification text so that it is more obvious. Can you check that an account exists by checking your inbox for the "verify email address"-email that you received when you created the account? Kind regards,
- The AutoPi Team

Hi AutoPI team, I am a backer and since soon I will receive my AutoPI, I would love to access your platform too.
Unfortunatelly I forgot my password on your platform, and tryed several times to reset it, without success. Last time was today, and after several attempts I havent received not once the reset mail from you. Your reset email system must be broken as today is the third time I tryed. Please fix it and let me know in order to access my autopi account. Thanks

As the backer #253, when I will receive the AutoPi?

Review from Kickstarter
Hi Mark, When you receive your device there will be an install/getting-started guide. It should be fairly easy to use.
The full extend of your particular vehicle should be much more detailed once you get access to the cloud.

As it’s getting close :-). Can you remind me how the device will initiate/install? Is there some sort of connection process that determines the car (type) and lists the available data? In other words how do we determine what we can do with our particular vehicle?

Hi Brian,
Great question. From the start we wanted to be able to build the AutoPi with a solid foundation for the future, this means that we are able to continue this business for a long time. Of cource there are no certanties with anything. That is why we decided from the start to make AutoPi Core open source. This means you will never have a "bricked" device and you never have to rely on our contingency. We know this is important for the reason you just listed. That being said, should AutoPi at some point cease to exist, we will at that time lay out a plan for you all to continue the work we have started. Best regards,
- The AutoPi Team

Nice to see that shipping is starting. I was thinking about something the other day. Two of my favorite items from Crowdfunding have relied on cloud services. And have announced bankruptcy and that the services will stop working. Limiting the usability of the devices. None has offered the community to take over or released the details needed for users to run the service in their own cloud with same functionality. What is your plan? How will you finance the cloud services, and do you have a contingency plan?

@Brian, Yes its possible to configure where the data is sent to. You can redirect data to your own server if you want to build everything on your own.

Regarding the whole AutoPi cloud, can the device use a Private "cloud"/(your own server).
AutoPi.io
Review from Kickstarter
@Mark S, Thank you for your question. Yes, we can imagine a way to detect if the car is locked or not. On most cars this information should be available on the CAN bus. If the information is available you should be able to set up your desired functionality using our internal if-this-then-that engine. So, it would simply be a matter of you configuring it to your need. If it’s not available directly from your OBD port, then you could manually wire the central locking device onto one of the GPIO pins of the AutoPi and then control if from there. If would require some manual work from your side, but it should be possible. When you get your device and log into the AutoPi Cloud, you will get access to a library containing information about the features that has been "discovered" and verified for your specific car. This is a library that will expand as users detect and discover new functions.

AutoPi : Scenario
Could you imagine a way to detect if the car central locking is activated or not? If it’s not built into the cars “bus” data, could a separate feed into your system sense if it’s locked or not?
Trying to see if I can do an “if - then” that says, if after 6pm and car not locked, then lock? Send out to central locking control/device (after being wired up)? Saab 93 “Linear” 2006 (convertible) Also, do you have a list of what cars provide what “bus” data?

For 4G connection, is a data plan with a carrier required? Or will it work globally without having to get a SIM or data plan?

Yes one of the features of the AutoPi, is that it will be able to share the 4G connection through a WiFi hotspot. So that you can log on with your other devices. @All
Thank you for the great support. We really appriciate all the help you guys have given us. You are the best :-)
