Jacopo Dondi – 24-Hour Watches

Editor's Rating
4.9?
Discovered on 2016-06-30

Jacopo Dondi watches are designed to display time in a much more natural way than your everyday wrist watch. Telling the time on a 24-hour dial can be tricky, to begin with, however, you soon realise that it’s a much more natural way of visualizing where you are in your day. Jacopo Dondi’s classic styling and elegant details look undoubtedly familiar but will ultimately change they way you perceive time.

I understand. I hope you get to that place...

Hi Etienne, Thanks for the feedback! I think while we're still bootstrapped, our watches will always stick to more reserved themes - it's just the "safer" way for us to grow. Once we are able to experiment, we'll be sure to keep you in mind ;)

@Jake
First my honest opinion on the new Cambio colors. I hoped for more daring color schemes. For me the Inizio gives me a feeling of being free, vacation time, Fun.... The color schemes seems to much of a business vibe. I hoped for dial colors like Yellow Sunburst, Blue skies or Picknick green with bold rubber strap colors (again yellow please)
All in an effort to appeal to the Free spirits, travelers and fun persons inside all of us.
Perhaps an idea for a next 24 hour watch.

just informed my fellow members on the Dutch watch forum about the Cambio. Hope it helps, you deserve it. The Inizio is such a great watch....

Hi Manuel, The way to undo the 10-minute delay - other than setting the watch 10 minutes ahead - is to fully rotate the hand around the dial once and then set the time, always turning the hand clockwise only. Let us know if you still have troubles. Jake

my watch has started to run about 10 minutes slow. I have followed the instructions below: 1) moving the crown anti-clockwise (i.e moving the hand forward only)
2) setting the time about an hour and then fine tunning it But I can see the 10 minutes behind right after I set it (i.e. I don't have to wait till the next day) It's weird because the watch was running on time when I first got it. Any ideas??
Etienne

Jake, i have always move the hand clockwise by turning the crown anti clockwise. I did however not do the fine tuning for the final hour. I will have a go with that and let you know.

That's so awesome to hear, Etienne! Thanks for raising your concern, too. We've worn ours for almost a year now, and although they're certainly showing signs of wear, we can't say we've had an issue in the area you are referring to. As for the 10-minute delay: When setting the time, ensure that you only ever move the HAND CLOCKWISE - by turning the CROWN ANTI-CLOCKWISE. If you go past the current time, you should take the hand all the way around the dial again, instead of going backwards. We find that it's best to set the time about an hour before the current time in position ii and then fine-tune the time in position iii. Trust us when we say that we are also disappointed with this "quirk", but it's something all 24-hour brands have had to deal with when using Ronda GMT movements. We don't quite have the luxury of being able to produce our own movements just yet!

Jake, just funished a business trip from The Netherlands to Tasmania and New Zealand with a great compagnion on my wrist. I love it. The design is awesome, the watch is very light and comfortable to wear and the 24 hour mindset is sweeeet... One concern i have is how long the leather strap will last before actual wear is shown where the strap sits in the buckle. But time will tell. With every time zone crossed i changed the time and i did had a few situations where i also saw the time being 10 min behind but not all the time. Perhaps this happens when having the watch in the crown position for fast moving of time and upon pressing the crown, it is turned slightly? Just a thought since i did not see it every time Etienne

We've contacted Ralf regarding his issue below. If anyone else is having a similar issue - where the watch is around 10-20 minutes slow all the time - our first recommendation would be to read the instruction card again and follow the steps verbatim. If you're still having an issue, reach out to us and we should be able to help somehow =)

I have the same issue. I can set the time and next day its at least 10 minutes off (to slow)

We've already reached out to Janice, but if anyone else's watch is doing this, it shouldn't be, and you should contact us as soon as possible.

The watch is pretty, but it stops all the time and I have been having to wind it everytime I wear it... Is there anyone facing this problem as well?

Hi, we haven't received the watch. There is no update from DHL since 28th Aug. The address is in China. The DHL says we cannot raise an inquiry. Only the shipper can.
Can anyone please help?

I definitely am looking at the time in a different way. More in the general area, more like the quadrant of the day instead of 14.58. Love it!

Very happy with mine. Been using it for a week now and love the 'almost' time. At first is was focussing with 1 eye closed to read the time, but now i just take a glance and know, with a -2 or +2 minute accuracy, the current time. Very well done and surely a collectors item with the watch lovers.

Still loving the feedback so far, guys. It's a shame that Manuel is having trouble with his, but we've sent him a message to find out what's happening. If anyone else is having trouble - whether it's delivery or the watch itself - please make sure you also send us a direct message. We do get notifications for comments, but these can be missed sometimes, or not seen for days!

Black leather strap white dial is excellent! Even better at this price point! Great job in a distinctive timepiece. Wish it had a sapphire crystal. Truly well done!! Cheers!

Got mine yesterday. I live south of Boston for those wondering about USA deliveries. I never received a notification from DHL so if you haven't don't panic. Watch is as advertised. Nice piece, clean, has a sheik look to it. Congrats to Jake and Carmen on a nice piece.

Received the watch last week and it's absolutely amazing. As I promised somewhere 100 comments ago, I'd give a quick update on what it's like for me to use. As I said then: I have trouble reading a "regular" watch (or any analog version of time) due to dyscalculia. And even though I've perfectly managed to work around the issues that come with that... the one issue I hadn't really solved until now is:
"I'd like to wear a decent watch that's not a smart-watch or a digital watch, as they often look bulky or sporty or childish". Last week at the unboxing, I was well satisfied with the Jacopo Dondi. Thanks for the personal message on the wrapper by the way! I've been wearing it the last couple of days and I'm honestly enjoying it. Reading the time takes a little (a day or so) getting used to, but so far I've been able to read it accurately with 2-3 minutes difference to what my phone says. And aside from that, the watch simply looks amazing, clean, shiny, decent, etc... Thanks a lot! If for some reason it ever breaks or gets lost and it turns out you don't sell it anymore.... I hope I can somehow convince you to make one more haha! Cheers!

@ Manuel, As far as we can tell, nobody in the US has received their watch, yet. Looks like it should happen before the week is out, though! =) @Mathis, That's odd that you haven't received an email from DHL. I'll send you your tracking number in an email. Feedback has been great so far, guys! We're beyond happy that people are loving their watches! Jake

Any one in the US has gotten their watch, yet?? It's weird because I check the DHL tracking, last week. It said that it had departed the "Destination Country Facility"...so I thought that it was already here in the US. BUT I just checked again in DHL and it says that it has arrived at the "Destination Country"....how many "Destinations" can this watch get to, seriously??!! Anyway, just venting about DHLs weird tracking system. Glad to hear people are liking their watches, that's a great sign and makes my waiting worth while, I guess ;-)

Hi guys, congratulations on getting your products out and glad I could support another Aussie kickstart. Reside in Sydney and just recieved mine (slightly later as the local courier was stuffing me around a little... All good tho). Happy with what I unboxed so far and super excited to wear it out. Also appreciate the little touch by setting it to my time zone. Alex
