Count Sheep to Fall Asleep with DreamMe

By Ashley Timms on under

Most of us are guilty of late-night blue light tendencies. We check our phones, tablets, and computers while lying in bed. The blue light glows as it keeps us awake as we check out the latest meme, grin over fantasy football results, and catch up on the news. But, according to Harvard Health, all this blue light exposure actually suppresses the secretion of serotonin, the hormone that helps us get to sleep. DreamMe is here to make sure you get a good night’s sleep without missing a thing online.

Using a special lens and an app, DreamMe can project just about anything onto your ceiling, relieving your eyes of unneeded blue light stress. Designed by a woman who used to keep her husband awake with constant phone-checking, DreamMe’s projection is dimmer than the light emitted from smart phones.

The technology behind DreamMe is that there isn’t much. Without a single cable or piece of electronics, DreamMe uses the display settings from your smart phone along with a special lens to project onto the ceiling. The aspheric lens, developed by a renowned optics company in Germany, is lightweight and compact. With the app, available for both iOS and Android, you can choose to see the time and date, set an alarm clock, view different time zones, weather, get the latest tweet, and even count sheep.

DreamMe’s final design is the result of months of prototypes; it’s a small yet sturdy product that sits neatly on any nightstand. The casing not only forms an elegant shape, but it also twists to allow you to adjust focus, depending on the height of your ceiling, and also protects the special lens. Coming in your choice of black or white, you can also choose your color for the adjustment ring. Included in the package is a soft cleaning cloth and a plush pouch for traveling.

DreamMe’s success has been widespread across the crowdfunding world with pages on both Kickstarter and Indiegogo. The team have raised over three times their initial target which unlocked stretch goes. DreamMe’s timeline has the product shipping in December, just in time for the holidays.
